  1. Past hour
  2. If the offers are bad enough that the Sox are in, why wouldn't he just go back to Japan and try again next year?
  3. Personally, I think it’s going to be Okamoto based on his K% and BB%. Feels more like the kind of guy they would target based on what they are trying to do here (OBP, patience at the plate, good walk rate, defense, etc).
  4. At the moment, I would expect Cholowsky at the 1.01 and then us trying to push a couple of prep players down to our second & third selections. One those kids may be a CF type, but you can’t really draft for need early in the draft. Getz will likely have to address CF in the near term in a different fashion.
  5. And you guys thought I was joking with finding "Murakami is coming" in Venable's quote
  6. We can’t draft higher than 10th in 2027. Might as well make the 2026 season as watchable as possible.
  7. Every player a club signs comes with risk. This should be a relatively easy decision. Getting fans into 2026 should be a motive enough.
  8. It would certainly generate a little excitement that we sorely need. Outside of the draft next year, we need some hope and reason to watch.
  9. He isn't good enough to command an opt out not with the posting fee on top. Three years with a vesting option makes sense to me. I'd offer 3/65 with a 500 PA 30 million option for 2029. If he's just a 1 WAR player bench him and move on. Little downside risk here given the context imo so get it done.
  10. They will be interested in the best player available. That's currently Roch Cholowsky a SS at UCLA. He's one of the most exciting position players we've seen in recent years.
  11. The other day, I guessed a 3-year deal with a player opt-out. That's probably not feasible. I'd love for the Sox to sign him, just for the marketing opportunity.
  12. Not all of them are guaranteed to do well in MLB either. It's easy to remember the successful but there are plenty of failures.
  13. Prime Gallo with a better BA/OBP is an MVP. I too would take that.
  14. So I'm assuming they want someone athletic enough to play CF.
  15. I mean I’d take prime gallo with a better BA/OBP. Certainly a risk, but we have no payroll to worry about
  16. Prime Joey Gallo was one of the best home run hitters in the game and an above average hitter even with all the strikeouts. I’d definitely take that at first base on this team. They desperately need more power.
  17. It’s a gamble for sure, and one I would probably take if his market and projected deal aren’t there.
  18. Wow it's like a greatest hits post.
  19. I'm not sure he's that good. However he would not get more than a 3 or 4 year deal from anybody so the risk is relatively low if he stinks the deck is cleared around 2028 when ideally the money is refreshed via Ishbia and Sox can play in a bigger pool. Signing him also would give the Sox a big marketing boost in baseball crazy Japan. Small upside to consider revenue wise long term.
  20. It would be nice to see the Sox make an effort at something more exciting than another team's castoff. This would be a really good move to regain some fan interest at a cost that should be very affordable. I am all in.
  21. So you want Gallo, minus the OF/CF value
  22. Today
  23. Murakami could strike out 200 times a season for all I care as long as he hits bombs.
  24. Side note: The Sox Sunday home uniforms should be the pope outfit. Just go all in.
