His start against Cincinnati isn't one that came out of nowhere. Let's see what can be done. He did look a bit better in the last two innings and I actually think he would have been ok going 5. We'll see. I think the key to Reds start was he relied almost solely on the fastball and change up while mixing in the sinker when needed. Also changed arm angles really effectively.

Dude Panican’ed due to Peters’ temporary slump and gave up too much for a potential non-tender CF in the offseason. Castillo blows and we could use Mason Adams right about now. What GM pays a big price for a player that hasn’t been good for 2 full seasons and then employs him as a backup CF that only starts against lefties in a playoff run? Getz is basically showing us that he fucked up by the way Doyle is being used. He should have just brought back Billy Hamilton. He could also play Gold Glove defense and OPS around .630 and would only cost $780K. 🤣

Javier Mogollon is a guy I've slept on. He's 20 years old in A+. Had a big game today. 3-6 with a HR. Through 27 games he is hitting .283, .410, .462. 30% strikeout rate though.

Ron Scheuler was once in the same fix for much less money and they made him pitching coach. Was that JR?

You know they won't do that . It's 5 starts into a 2 ,possibly 3 year commitment. He could turn it around next start and go on a roll and pitch well in the playoffs. You just don't release a guy that you are already committed to, especially with their best guys struggling and he is one of them. Who's going to do better ? Sandlin, Thorpe, Urquidy, Cannon , Schultz ?

Kay seems like a great guy. He has a niece diagnosed with pediatric cancer so it's a cause that hits close to home for him.

I don't think he pitched badly against Boston or quite frankly even against the cubs. His defense really let him down against Boston and the home run he gave up was actually on a really good pitch. Don't think he was particularly good tonight but he battled his ass off and I think was finding something in those final two innings. Would rather see a start like this than Burke's last night because he kept the pitch count low.
