  2. true story, my ex was a Cubs fan. And our relationship was bookended by the Cubs Sox series last August and this year's Series

  4. My MLB Sox game was blacked here in SW Florida so I watched the Rays feed but I caught the Vargas homer on Facebook with Schriffen, he was just horrible on that call, something he really needs to work on. I’ve sort of been in his corner thinking he would be more than adequate by now but now I’m not sure.
  5. It’s crazy how much Buxtons body has betrayed him.
  6. We are now less than two 1/2 days from the trade deadline. One thing to think about ahead of the deadline is what is the rotation plan is for 2027. At the moment, you have Burke & Martin as locks and Kay as a solid back of the rotation option. Then there is a massive group of arms who could be in the mix for the other two spots between Schultz, McDougal, H. Smith, Sandlin, S. Smith, Adams, & Thorpe. This latter group includes a former All Star and four former Top 100 prospects, but all of them come with question marks. Theoretically, we should feel awesome about this group with the breakthroughs of Burke & Martin. Obviously that really isn’t the case as many of these guys have gone backwards this year and the others haven’t had a chance to prove themselves at the majors due to injury recoveries or other factors. I would NOT feel good about starting the 2027 season with two of these guys in my rotation and even moreso not when that would make Kay my effective #3 SP. As such, one rotation upgrade is an absolute must and two is probably ideal if we’re really going for it. We should have cash to burn this offseason and adding a pricey free agent SP should the priority. No doubt Skubal is who we should target, but obviously that’s super unlikely and not worth planning around. The other best free agent SPs are Gray, Gausman, Ray, Peralta, Woodruff, Holmes, Mize, Singer, Flaherty, Boyd, Martinez, May, Rogers, Ryan, Griffin, & Bubic. King & Burnes also have opt-outs. That’s an incredibly deep free agent class and at our single biggest area need. Ultimately, I bring all this up for two reasons. First, many of these guys will be available at the deadline (by my estimate, 11 of the 19 guys above). If you really like one of them and plan to pursue them aggressively in FA, why not spend a bit more now at the deadline to bring them into the fold and give yourself an extended sales pitch window. Second, does the depth of this market change the thinking on adding a controllable SP this deadline? If a salary floor were to be implemented, adding a second pricy SP would be the best way to solve it. In conclusion, I love me some Reid Detmers and think he would slot in perfectly between Burke & Martin, but am now leaning towards going the rental route at the deadline. If I could get him for a pitching heavy package (guys in the group of seven listed way above), I’d certainly do it. But if it requires Carlson, then I think I probably pass for now and save that chip for later. I’d still try to add two rentals SPs this deadline and make sure one of them is a free agent priority.
  7. why is Nightengale putting out fake info and stirring twitter into a frenzy lol
  8. CBS Sports this AM has the Sox post season chances at 72.3% and projected wins at 84.3%.
  9. And his nut. Unfortunately, we are still working on Jerry’s coin purse.
  10. That would be awesome.
  11. Agree, especially since Ramirez is struggling so much for Cleveland.
  12. If the Sox trade for Skubal, Ishbia is busting open that checkbook.

  15. One small nugget of a rumor and we're quickly five pages deep. We're dying here.
  16. Both kay and fedde have performed well for most part. Their stuff has been better than Schultz....getting into 95-96 mph range at times Nosh is the weak link right now Our vets: Benny,fedde,kay,Grichuk....all have chipped in on field and off.
  17. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/articles/one-unexpected-guardians-trade-could-173104431.html SI is really falling off. Trade struggling Tanner Bibee for someone pitching better? Brilliant.
  18. Jerry Hairston Jr. predicts a multi-team trade for Skubal"I think the Tampa Bay Rays are going to be extremely aggressive," he noted. "I'm hearing the Brewers are going to be active, and hopefully the [Chicago] White Sox can be active as well." From all of the reports going around, it's interesting to see Hairston lump the Chicago White Sox into the mix. Not many teams have predicted Skubal could land there, especially knowing that would keep Skubal in the American League Central for the rest of the season, at bare minimum. Hairston continued, "Obviously the Dodgers are going to be in on it... I think if the Dodgers do pull off this trade, I think it's going to be a multi-team trade. I think it won't be just one for one as far as Tigers, Dodgers, if they do get it done."

His 6.50 ERA looks worse than the arm behind it: a 38:11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 36 IP suggests a pitcher throwing better than the runs indicate. The thirty-year-old's biggest problem this year has been home runs; he's given up 12(!) in 36 IP. That rate is an outlier - he only had a 1.3 HR/9IP rate coming into this year - but that will need to be lowered considerably if he's to have any success. One thing that will work in his favor is no longer pitching in Camden Yards, which has become notorious for giving up home runs since they moved the fences in." average fb = 93
  20. Still complicated with MINN at +1 and everyone waiting to see what DET will do...but going .500 (so far) during this stretch when they were staring 1-5 in the face before the G3 NYY comeback is pretty sweet can't ever count them out feels a lot different than 2012 waiting on DET to finally step on the gas at the end what's really weird is neither Buxton nor Ryan are leading the Twins now
  21. They have a site picked out just south of Raymond James Stadium, they need to be in Tampa, the Lightning sell out every game, the Bucs draw very well. The Trop’s location in St.Pete is too far away from the population base in Tampa and is too long of a ride and hard to get to with lots of congestion on the bridges. The fans who live just east of the Bay itself like in Ruskin and Sun City Center have to travel way south and out of the way to get to the Skyway bridge and then come back north, the only towns that have an easy trek are those who live in Sarasota and Bradenton and towns north like Clearwater and Dunedin.
  22. T.Rogers has really been pitching well AND an expiring contract https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/mlb-trade-deadline-white-sox-continue-their-search-for-starting-pitching-195439525.html
