The Cease trade was fucking cow dung. You know it and everyone knows it. No need to cuck for the guy. Preller held Getzy over a barrel and whispered in his ear that he was his daddy. It was basically the opposite of the James Shields trade. Also, I wouldn’t mind if they had Jake McCarthy right now over 275 plate appearances from Dominic Fletcher. Most of his moves lately have been good to great so perhaps he wised up with experience.

To make it a finer point, we all have been taught most recently that the top organization prospect(s) traded is reserved for superstar trades. Even then, the returns aren’t what they might be in the past. That’s the new MLB. It doesn’t happen anymore for guys like Detmers.

Given what we just went through with Cease and Robert and even Crochet other name trades, trying like hell in forums to understand the perceived low return of TOP ranked prospects…….we are the same fans willing to give up out top prospects for a guy like Detmers. I don't really want to trade for Deitmers or anybody of significance unless the trade is clearly an underpay from our perspective. The team is still growing and young. I don't have expectations of a World Series this year. The team got good by developing young players. The other item is having additional years of control, is nice. However, what are they going to be valued at given what next year could be, which is probably a shortened season? I would probably do Carlson and Quero for Deitmers as my high package. My thought process is we have a significant amount of middle infielders in Meridoth, Antonocci, Montgomery, Cholowosky, Thome, and Prosek. I would imagine two of that combination hold it down for the next 10-12 years. They could like Quero and feel like he is fixable. However, I would not trade any young pitching as this is something we are lacking.
