  3. Why are they playing an ALCS game at 1 PM local time on a weekday?
  4. Randazzo is already calling Bulls preseason games. If he indeed lives in Chicago (despite calling Nagels games), I'd be surprised if it isn't him.
  5. Some announcers have contracts that allow them to take days off to do network gigs, but the team also gets a certain number of days where they can override that - opening day, potential clinchers, etc. - when they want their number one announcer on the local broadcast. Wonder if John's contract didn't have that clause, or the team decided they were just as happy to have McKnight call a game that would have a bigger-than-usual audience. If the latter, that's telling, as was John's decision to call a UFC event in the first place.
  6. Chris Getz lauds White Sox for 2026 successes before sett...Given that his team squandered a 2-0 lead in the ALDS to the Cleveland Guardians, Chris Getz couldn’t exactly take a victory lap in his year-end media session with reporters on Wednesday, but although
  7. Don't intend to stir the pot here, but I think I might've missed something. Did Tommy get a little riled up during a post-game news conference, or what exactly happened?
  8. I mean the sentiment is fair. A $1000 ticket in NYC probably doesn't go for $100 in Tampa
  9. Right. And as of right now, Vargas is my 1B after next year, barring a Mune extension. Heck, they can even split 1B/DH duties if he is extended since Benintendi will be gone.
  10. I don't know. At any rate, someone was charging that much for tickets at a place that has had a history of not selling out in the playoffs.
  11. Beckham was out of the org by the time Getz got here. Fulmer was pitching in the bigs before Getz's time. Colas was acquired after Getz's time as director of development. So, no. I don't believe he had anything to do with rushing those guys. It's kind of known that the White Sox would draft college players who were mostly "developed" in college and could shoot through the system. No, I don't think the director of development was making the decision to promote players prematurely, and then to allow them to languish in the bigs without proper support. The main evidence we have that Getz wanted to do things differently is that once he became GM, he started making wholesale changes to development that resulted in tangible success. I can't see how the way Bill Veeck handled a prospect's timeline in the 1970s has any bearing on how the organization is run today.
  12. I thought MLB controlled playoff pricing?
  13. Playoff attendance issues have resurfaced at Tropicana Field. The Yankees probably boosted the attendance in the ALDS, but part of the problem in the ALCS games is that the Rays were charging $185 per ticket for seats in the 3rd deck. FOX 13 Tampa BayWhy empty playoff seats at Tropicana Field are sparking b...Low playoff attendance and falling ticket prices at Tropicana Field during the Tampa Bay Rays' American League Championship Series matchup against the Cleveland Guardians are sparking widespread backl

  15. We still have plenty of room to get better in the field. No one is "expendable", though I do hope all are "expandable" on their successes.
  16. I see Roch and Carlson on different timelines/generations. Emerson might have made Carlson expendable. Roch makes one of Colson/Meidroth/Vargas maybe even Antonacci expandable soon enough? A while back, I suggested that the Sox trade Vargas after 27 if they aren't resigning him (that was a very popular suggestion). Roch could fit right in. Colson was annoying at the end of the season; but he's a good defender and with just a bit more contact..... Sox even have some other MI that look interesting. Maybe another Meidroth that we don't know about. I'm hoping Meidroth is the Sox version of Altuve for the next 10 years.
  17. And I am pretty sure that Getz also had Vaughn on the major league roster as GM and traded him too.
  18. Chris Getz was the Director of Player Development. JR was the Chairman. I believe they both are still with the organization. Now do you share some concerns?
  19. Who was in charge of the team then? Are they still around?
  20. @caulfield12 sure has a problem with authority, doesn’t he? I wonder if he even obeys his paramount leader?
  21. Bigger contracts won't create better players. The question is will it redistribute players from the Dodgers and Mets to the Pirates and As? I'm not certain it will. I think the floor inflates the bottom and the cap deflates the top. We still have the question is having the bulk of your payroll concentrated in two the three superstar contracts or upgrades at more positions?
  22. I think you are right...he stays here. But as for speculation...it feels like it is becoming a Joe Borchard situation although Colson has contributed more that Joe B did so far. And when we needed to give Joe B a change of scenery we ended up with Matt Thornton I think...which was alright. I would hope Colson would get more of a return than Matt Thornton though.
