8/22 GT Sox/Mets, 6:10. Jump on the momentum
I was telling my wife yesterday he’s been quietly so solid for us this year. Then he hit that bomb. It was glorious.

It's a rough half century in the rust belt.

I have to give you this. If you don't have an argument, you sure can make up one to get mad about. Again, this isn't about zoning, planning, or anything else typical. This is property law as it applies to railroads, who have been granted near absolute power in this country by virtue of rewriting property law in the late 19th century to seize land to go cross continent and create company towns. You can turn it into a values judgment if you like, but I am stating facts and history here, from first hand experience. My hometown is on the tail end of almost 20 years of dealing with a railroad expansion where despite sitting through dozens of community meetings, studies, environmenal impact statements, etc, they were presented with much smaller impact alternatives, they went forward with exactly what they said they would seizing a few hundred houses and properties through a center swath of town, putting up hideous walls as a barrier along the route so they could increase speeds, closing off a couple of dozen crossings, including a few vital routes for fire and emergency response teams with no care for anything but their bottom line over any community concerns, including literal life and death ones. This wasn't a unique experience either. Towns all up and down this corridor saw the exact same thing play out, regardless of political affiliation, socioeconomic background, or anything other than being in the way of the ideal path.

Also, I don’t think anyone here ( including me ) has really properly appreciated Grich and what he’s meant for our team.- 8/22 GT Sox/Mets, 6:10. Jump on the momentum
Really hope we see Castillo come out of the gate sharpe and are able to get him to throw like an ace again. We really need some starters to step up and throw like reliable frontend guys.- 8/21 Games
His stuff isn't bad; his command on the other hand.,,, But I agree with comment above - the other orgs turn the Cannons into relievers. The Sox spend their scarce personnel budget on relievers.- 2026 Old Sock Drawer
Jacob Misiorowski is similarly running away with the NL Cy Young at -750, with Chris Sale (+850) and Cristopher Sanchez (11-1) posing outside shots. In the AL, Cam Schlittler (-170) continues to hold a slim lead over Dylan Cease (+135), with Sonny Gray the only somewhat close contender at 28-1.- 8/22 GT Sox/Mets, 6:10. Jump on the momentum

Agree, we really haven’t had a period of good consistent pitching all year which is why our longest winning streak has only been 5 games, since we are leading the league in runs scored and if we had more consistent pitching the Sox would probably be leading the division by 8 games.Today

It's def an interesting area of politics with a lot of brain rot on both ends. In general development is good. There are cases where it's too much too fast, but in general without development cities would decay over time or at best stagnate. I've been part of it for the last 20 years of my life first in Brooklyn now in Seattle, it is disruptive at times, but I sure wouldn't want to live in neighborhoods going the other way. I saw Detroit, Flint, and the entire SE MI area depopulate growing up you don't want that!- Magic Number

For some unknown reason, liberals now hate zoning and love letting real estate developers do whatever they want, thinking it's like a 'progressive' point of view. Reagan and friends did a number on people's brains.- Magic Number
It's been about a month since this thread was posted and the Magic # went from 60 to 30 even though the Sox record since then is 13-14. . If the Sox can play just a little bit better they could wrap up the division title by mid September. The Central being terrible is helping more than the Sox performance. That being said nothing comes easy especially with the starting pitching staff being as precarious now than at any point in the season. At various times though we have got great performances when we needed them and for long stretches of time from Martin and Burke and better from Kay and Fedde. Kay has been better since he changed where he stood on the rubber. He has picked up some of the slack created by the Martin decline . He has 7 consecutive starts giving up 3 runs or less. Since the beginning of May he is 8-5 3.43 ERA and 4.25 FIP. Sox are 12-9 in the 20 games he's pitched since then covering 102.1 innings . Fedde has been pretty steady over the last few months. Since 4/24 any game in which Fedde has pitched at least 3 innings the Sox are 13-7. Burke had an incredible run even though his last 2 starts have been a struggle . Since 5/26 in 16 games covering 93 innings the Sox are 11-5 . Burke's ERA in those games is 2.81 with a 3.35 FIP, 112 K & 28 BB.- Bullpen numbers...
The Jay Cuda chart he posted the other day was illustrative. Sox have least starts of 5+ innings from SP but also the best winning % when SP go 5 plus. We have a good offense but a mediocre at best rotation. The bullpen honestly has been pretty fucking good since the ASB. Yea we've blown a couple but also they've locked down (like last night) a few times and given us 3-4 scoreless.- Magic Number
I can picture the car rocking slightly.- Bullpen numbers...
But they have been showing signs of fatigue since the last Boston game at Fenway, four games lost where they had a lead in the 7th inning or later. And Brazoban has been a failure to this point.- Magic Number
