  8. I see Elko is at 1B for the Dash.
  9. Maybe the worst series AT HOME this year, but that Brewers series to start the season was as bad as it gets.
  10. The guys really seem to feed off the crowd and Mexican Heritage Night is one of most raucous (if not the most) games of the year. That + Mune's return has me super pumped for tomorrow. Wish I could go
  11. Today
  12. Random musings: #1 Totally agree with it. #2 Just last year we thought catching was going to be a strength, turns out it hasn't worked out that way. I know some don't care for Lee but he's got to be better than Romo and maybe deserves a shot. #3 Wouldn't count on Pereira, he hasn't even started baseball activities. That concussion must be really bad. Hays is a wild card, guy can't stay healthy so who knows even if he does return, how long he'll be able to play. #4 I get they hype with McDougal but the guy is coming off an arm issue. Everyone seems to be assuming he'll be fine. I'm not. Need to see the rest and rehab actually worked. #5 The rotation absolutely needs help. Two starters with Schultz possibly being sent back down.
  13. Braves club is miles better than the Sox and they have a recent track record of very good success to make one think they'll be fine the rest of the way. Unfortunately you can't say the same about the Sox. Not a valid comparison in my opinion. Let's see how they play against Sacramento. Win the series, take some positive momentum into the break and get some much needed rest.
  14. I really won’t mind if they don’t bring any big additions on and stand pat for the most part. Should that be the case and trade targets are too pricey then that just will have to be ok… If we win the division or a wild card spot, cool… regardless this team is heading in the right direction and a couple of bumps in the road shouldn’t make people lose their fucking minds. Though, I lost mine decades ago so… I’m not really one who should talk. poop.
  15. Yup, this day was no doubt coming, especially with this rotation. Doesn’t help that we are currently exposed against LHP and Vargas & Grichuk both are in the midst of cold streaks. Always sucks when you get kicked to the curb like this, but Murakami will be back tomorrow and that should provide a much needed bolt of energy and more importantly provide us with the one most dangerous power hitters in the game.
  16. At this point I'd be surprised if Boston is selling. The 10 days after the break should determine it once and for all. If they stay hot their fan base will demand that they add and not subtract.
  17. I don't think it would be a failure either (in fact I don't think they will claim a spot) but a missed opportunity none the less.
  18. Great post and spot-on. Also, this series confirmed a couple of important things: Junior Perez is not part of the solution against LHP and should be sent down when Murakami is activated (and ahead of Gonzalez IMO) A RH hitting backup catcher is now officially a need at the deadline as Teel can’t currently handle LHP and Romo is not a major league player We desperately need one of Pereira or Hays back to help against LHP as there are too many strong platoon guys on the active roster presently The bullpen outside of Eisert appears to be stronger than most realize providing 11 scoreless this series (McDougal likely will replace Eisert) The rotation is the primary weakness and will need to be addressed in several ways for the Sox to make the playoffs and compete in October An outside addition to the rotation that can knock everyone down a spot is critical even if that isn’t a true #1 starter (which we can’t really afford) We need to find a way to give Martin some rest down the stretch as he looks fatigued, whether that’s going six man or skipping a start here or there
  19. Again a lot of truth in your comments. The next 10 days or so after the break could determine if the Sox will be actively looking to bring folks in at the deadline or stand pat and hope for the best. With so many teams still "in it" it may not be wise in the long run for the Sox to trade away assets and have to pay a very high price. We'll see.
  20. Still in first place through no fault of their own.
  21. What's funny about this is every team in MLB -- EXCEPT the White Sox -- has had a 4 game losing streak. But I guess the Braves season ended when they lost 4 in a row.
  22. Unfortunately many people here forgot how baseball works and think that cold streaks aren’t possible unless your teams sucks.
  23. Goober is the only poster I have put on the ignore list in my 20+ years on this site…he’s that big of a goober
  24. Eh I think they’re playing with house money this season. Sure, it’d obviously be great if they stayed competitive and made the playoffs. I don’t think it’s the colossal failure you’re making it out to be if they don’t, though.
