Fake insiders would speculate Sox landing someone and hope to be right rather than disputing potential FA signings. The guy seems legit but he probably got wind late last night that Sox did check in on Imai in the last 24 hours and thought there’s a chance, only to then find out they’re not going to make any offers.
-
If he’s good and leaves, you offer the QO and get a draft pick.
-
Well no, it’s just that he would’ve entered free agency again next offseason if he’s any good. And if he stinks, the Astros are stuck with him for two more years. Seems like a much more player friendly contract than team friendly.

This dude is now giving me a sob story about how much hate he got last night. I have to say I don't know how we have all these weirdos who say they have sources but they are all amusing in their own way.
-
I don't want any player with these conditions. Sign a 1-year deal or a 3-year deal.

Sox the "front-runners" for Imai
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, gotta make sure we save that money for Jerry's kids. -
You could always sign Imai’s teammate Kona Takahashi. He’s on the same signing deadline as Imai but he’s a year older and doesn’t strike anyone out, so he’ll be much cheaper.
-
Yep. Dude is a clown and a sham. He didn’t say we got him, but he did waffle and say there was some hope… for all of 3 minutes cuz he bought into some random Japanese dude’s overreaching tweet.
-
I gave him a little s%*# for doing this.

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

What a fucking clown to do this after incorrectly saying we got him last night -

Still need another SP…who is next on the list? -
As expected, he’s now victory lapping.
-
Bummer

-
He would be QO eligible right? Idk if you need a certain amount of years but I know players who opt out of deals can still be offered the QO.
-
Jerry would never sign a deal like that, especially for a pitcher.
-
Yeah looking at these contract terms, it kind of makes me feel better. He basically would’ve been a 1 year rental here.
-
boras is a wizard. Horrible deal for Stros. All downside no upside.
-
Yep. He basically either gets paid for 3 years if he sucks or gets a chance to opt out each year for a long-term deal if he pitches well.
-
Finally a reason to hate the Astros.
-
So basically Sox would have had to trade him after a few months if he performed well.
-
Jerry is just saving the bag for Tucker.
-
So essentially it’s a 1 year deal if he’s any good?
