  2. I'm a LuBob fanboy to be sure, but I think he could be a part of this team on a new deal even if continues to hit, like, .680 OPS. His glove is too good and CF is too important of a defensive position. There's no clear replacement for him in the system. I like Ely Brown, but he's a 12th rounder who may or may not be up to the task, akin to Duke Ellis. If Marcelo Alcala keeps up the good work, maybe he's the guy, but he's only 19. We might hope to have a center fielder prior to 2030. Trent Grisham might be the only realistic FA option in 2027 to fill CF and I'm not sure I'd trust him to maintain his production. You wouldn't want to pay him $20mil for his recent level of production and injury history, but I like him a lot better than Cedric Mullins at $7mil for example. Not many center fielders have his tools and ceiling.
  3. 50-50 calls are usually pretty close, which is why umpires mess them up and there are challenges. I’d rather the umpires get the call correct the majority of time than have it simply go the Sox way every time.
  4. pretty much. Hawk was a total homer and he's the best Chicago broadcaster I've listened to. Neil Funk was really underappreciated too. Major troll, very amusing, until he lost his eyesight and started confusing Taj Gibson and Tyrus Thomas. I think Schriff could get better if he actually tried at his job. And didn't put his foot in his mouth 100 times a season. I ain't mad if he's gone after next season, I'm also not mad that they moved on from the guy who has grander ambitions than local announcer. Mike Breen is also a great national announcer but sucks listening to on Knicks games, Clyde Frazier does all the heavy lifting. I couldn't imagine Joe Buck, Al Michaels, etc broadcasting local games. These guys all have national interests they don't want to piss off. Benetti knows how his bread is buttered and it isn't by Chicago or Detroit. It's not so much homerism as actually rooting for your team. Every 50-50 call, Benetti is all like, "hmm, I dunno, it's pretty close..." like come on man, support the team.
  5. Benetti may be better at announcing football and basketball than baseball but the only thing Schriffen is better at than Benetti is SlamBall, and that’s only because Benetti has never covered it. You mention that Benetti’s “careerism” impacts the number of Sox games he can call, but mention nothing about our other broadcaster nearing retirement with only one gig who takes off numerous games and rarely even makes west coast trips. You also seem to be annoyed that Benetti wasn’t a complete and utter Sox homer like Schriffen who was constantly trying to tell us that a 100+ loss team was so good, even when they were setting the MLB loss record. That was simply delusional and makes it appear that he thinks Sox fans are complete and utter morons. Finally, how many moronic basic baseball questions does Schriffen posit to Stone each season? You would likely lose count of tracking them after a couple games. If you did a drinking game around it you would be hammered by the 7th inning.

  7. Read a story tonight that was pretty interesting. Story said the U.S. Copyright Department for the second time has turned down the Athletics attempts to copyright the name "Las Vegas Athletics." Part of the issue is that the A's actually aren't in Las Vegas but Sacramento at least for the next two years. You talk about a total cluster#$%^ 😆
  8. good luck, Jason! I wasn't mad they moved on from him. His careerism impacts his ability to call local games. "hmm, I dunno, I don't think that call should favor the Sox" is not the attitude to have. Dude also has no depth perception, could never tell a home run off the bat. He's much better at both football and basketball. Loved when he filled in for Bulls games. Try to catch whatever NFL game he's announcing. He really reminds me of a better, non-lame version of Joe Buck. His future is bright. But I got tired of listening to his constant "unbiased" haterade at the local level. Make or break year for Schriff. I think it's a contract year. Derrick Rose took a leap and won MVP his third season, maybe Schriff will do the same. He'd be fine if he knew anything at all about the sport. Maybe somebody told him to watch some baseball.
  9. You have to assess that vs last minute getting a guy because a team or two were over committed.
  10. I'd rather use it to get a better return on Robert
  11. They have Cole Young as basically their only 2B right now. Looking at the profiles there's a good shot that Sosa is the better player in 26, in what should be a contention window for the Mariners. I dunno, I'd argue you are never getting 9 WAR from a catcher again, and even regressing to a 4 WAR star puts them behind the 8 ball a bit. They need to try and improve.
  12. Sox have like $800K unaccounted for. It could easily be spent though.
  13. It's rare for such an accomplished coach to become available. Their season got screwed by the Lamar injury, but even so, Harbaugh has been blowing a lot of winnable games with them in recent years. Not to mention all the issues in the playoffs.
  14. Mariners have top prospects around the infield and just locked up Naylor, not sure what Sosa does for them. And with Julio in CF, Robert’s value to the M’s is diminished, unless he finds his All Star form at the plate.
  15. Schiff is an asskisser, which is JRs number ask. He will be here at least until Uncle Ish takes over
  16. I wonder if Kingsburys desire to be Head Coach again came out a little bit when the season went sideways and Quinn was done with it. Kingsbury has had a very weird Head Coach trajectory, and I wonder if he is even worth it for a Gm to gamble on again after Arizona ended with a thud
  17. Yesterday
  18. JR driving him away and replacing him with someone who is highly unqualified doesn't impact the play on the field, but it sure typifies how he has run this organization over the last two decades. At least when the decade is out, our team should be under new ownership. When Pope Leo throws out the first pitch at the new ballpark, I don't expect Schriffen to be there unless he bought a ticket to the game.
  19. Good for him. I wasn't at much of a fan until his replacement showed up.
  20. I feel like there's a joke in there about some recent staff members....
  21. This. Even the idiot Matt Nagy had that one terrific season remember? After that all garbage.
  22. Shocked that Harbaugh got the boot in Baltimore after all that he's accomplished. If the Bears hadn't already grabbed Johnson, I'd hire him in a second. He won't be unemployed for long.
  23. I've got a new diet staple then next season....Cuban Comet Sandwich and a Helmet full of nachos. Thank you, Doctor.
  24. Plenty of veggies in the helmet nachos. It's basically a health food
  25. The only vegetable i've ever seen at Sox park is a grilled onion.
  26. Stone talks about how he only eats meat/steak and is apparently as repulsed by vegetables as a 5 year old kid.
  27. I didn't mind watching Benetti get a little sloppy on occasion. Nothing wrong with that at a baseball game. Plus it provides good contrast from Stone acting like he would light up in flames if he even came in contact with a piece of food in the booth.
  28. Great for Jason. Anything that gets him away from Detroit more often.
