White Sox Winner!
I don't follow FutureSox to a great degree of depth but is the cat drafted out of Arkansas at AAA a guy?

If Stoney decides to hang it up, can we get Dan Plesac full time as a color guy? He and Schriff are pretty solid together. They’ve got good chemistry.

Give Roch a week behind the plate down in Charlotte and bring him up as the Sox full time catcher for the rest of the year.

White Sox Winner!
Might be time to get Boston Smith behind the plate more.

I remember that weight training for baseball players was considered a no no back in the day. That being said I will take today's nutrition/fitness/recovery over anything they did in the past.

I wonder if Joe Ryan is in a dead arm phase or is he hurt?

That move would be a huge benefit to keep the bullpen fresh.

"This year, with the help of (Wright State associate head coach) Jordan Chiero, I really took off. He always kept me going in the right direction to grow every day. He did a good job of making me understand that.” His catching skills improved after returning to the position following two years in the outfield (started at Cincy) and a third season playing both infield and outfield. “At the end of the day I wanted to win,” Smith explained about his original change of position from catcher to the outfield. “My mind wasn’t set on playing pro baseball, it was about winning. Then last year everyone got hurt and they needed a shortstop. I have a selfless mentality to do anything to help win games. I still did reps with the catchers, there was enough time to get my work in and stay fresh, and that ended up helping out this year.” Smith pointed to “being a complete catcher” as what will be key in moving up the ladder of the organization quickly. “God gave me a unique ability to hit and steal bases, not many catchers do that,” pointed out Smith, who is the only person in his family to play athletics beyond high school. “This is the first year since I was a junior in high school that I was a full-time catcher. If I continue to improve at that, which I think I can, I really like my chances.” prepbaseballreport.com https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/239436/

So what does all this weight training do as all we see are more and more MLB players on the I L with leg injuries. Baseball is a game of agility and you aren’t going to be agile if you’re muscle bound, the muscles become too tight and you look like Charles Atlas. Teel probably went overboard with his weight training in the off season, back in my tennis days the trainer at my club in Wheaton believed in just toning up, not building up the muscles. In the old days of baseball we never saw hamstring pulls, all the teams wanted for players were to be in shape with running, stretching and calisthenics.

So a lot also depends on whether they can extend either Vargas or Mune instead...since they weren't willing to invest it into pitching. OFC this could also turn into another Chris Sale/Red Sox (did have the 2018 WS title) contract long term...although Garrett does have another six years left to go in Boston first. Sale was worth 20.5 fWAR/6 years with Boston, btw.

"Right now, Crochet isn't healthy enough. Sitting at a table in the back corner of Loco Taqueira after celebrating his personalized Sam Adams-sponsored "Crochet Pale Ale," the pitcher explained how he is "just hammering rotator cuff" exercises, trying to strengthen the areas in and around the shoulder area. As for when he will be getting the go-ahead to actually start throwing again, that still remains to be seen. "To be honest, I'm not sure just because I'm not there yet," he explained when asked what would be turning point to allow for actual throwing. "You know, we're having conversations every week and evaluations about probably every seven to 10 days, just kind of checking our work and making sure that we're still trending in the right direction. And we've been going that way for a while now. Since stopping plyos, especially, I feel like I've seen drastic gains. But as far as what makes you ready ... I mean, I'm not an athletic trainer, so I don't really know." Bradfo also confirmed on twitter his 120 day left arm injury clause in his contract that turns his player option into a club option in 2032 is in play for his injuries.

But Crochet has been hurt and he doesn’t get knocked for that? Interesting.

Three major injuries in one year leaves the team with tremendous uncertainty...when Teel/Quero was promoted as a niche advantage over the rest of the league a year ago, albeit an ongoing challenge to get both of them enough playing time.

2026 MLB Catch All (Non Sox, Non AL Central)
Does someone really have a Cubs' Jesse Chavez jersey? Somehow that's about perfect for the National Anthem slapper? If it's not that affront, it's Miss America getting upset after her ASG performance of America, The Beautiful, where she has since been "body shamed" for being too thin or deemed by "trolls" as not pretty enough lol. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/article/im-miss-america-that-doesnt-mean-comments-about-my-body-dont-hurt-200153429.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjg1cqUyeOVAxXgKEQIHcklC6IQFnoECAUQAg&usg=AOvVaw3TsnALQr_gDP4NQZndqnot

Teel only had 63 ABs post rehab and hit .190 with 2 HR. Holding serve with Quero, who had 150ABs and hit .187 with 2 HR. There were higher expectations for Teel than there was for Quero. Teel chose to gain 20 pounds in the off-season and bulked up with weights. He will have time now to possibly consider a new path forward in terms of his conditioning and diet. Maybe lighter and faster like he used to be instead of heavier and stronger. IMO Getz will not settle for Quero as the primary catcher knowing that Teel is toast until some time next year.

What is a Boston Smith for? Already 23, raking in AA. Not much experience as a catcher or what? Must not be ready yet. Maybe when he’s 25!
