  1. Past hour
  2. Are you at all concerned the Rays will try to push him down to 2 (assuming he’s still the clear 1) with their enormous pool, or am I just being paranoid?
  3. That’s what I figured. It wouldn’t make much sense for a young team to acquire Pereira and even Kelenic to then give playing time to older players like Tauchman and Conforto that are already nearing retirement.
  4. Yeah I can’t see them adding more than that unless they got someone via trade
  5. He’ll likely beat bonus record by quite a bit and still come in very underslot. Sox are in a great spot.
  6. The Sox would be one of the few teams that could feel good about giving him a rotation spot of out of the gate. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get like 1/3m or something. He could be a useful back end starter on the high end, but there just isn’t any real upside barring some transformational change to his arsenal. He's big, strong, and stable, which has allowed him to develop good command, but his stuff is maxed out and just not that exciting.
  7. Today
  8. Having a Murakami Jersey for potentially only 2 years isn’t all that much longer.
  9. Seems headed that direction. He doesn't miss a lot of bats. If you wouldn't sign Sugano, you wouldn't want Takahashi.
  10. Good article. Thanks for sharing. So you think the Sox want to give Kelenic a shot and would only add another cheap outfielder at the level of Tauchman/Conforto?
  11. MLBTR has him projected as a 5th starter. Not exactly exciting.
  12. I wouldn’t be surprised if no team signs him. His strikeout rate is ridiculously low. He’d have to come cheap for a team to take a chance on him an also pay a posting fee.
  13. Bro, he's a pitcher. Don't overthink it.
  14. One year opt-out? Another trick in Boras' bag. No reason to invest team resources in a guy that is going to book after one season. Fans would not even invest in a jersey with his name on it.
  15. Agreed. The numbers can especially be misleading for pitchers because we don’t know what they are being asked to work on.
  16. Kona is fringey, definitely at least a tick below Imai. The sad thing is he peaked two seasons ago and looked ready to get at least what Imai did, but Seibu wouldn’t let him go.
  17. I mean if you put it that way, every players floor is “dies in plane accident tomorrow”
  18. Yes. He could beat the current signing record by seven figures and still be well under slot.
  19. That sounds like a restaurant in Hawaii that serves great Japanese Polynesian fusion.
  20. Kona Takahashi has the same deadline as Imai, so there should be news on that front soon too.
  21. I think theres something to this. People discount or fail to pay attention to the psychological aspect of these kids at this point in their career. If they feel they stall, where they should be continuing to advance, it 100 percent has a role in their development. I think this was certainly the case with Colson. Everyone is so obsessed with numbers and peripherals that the head is ignored. I think with the talent of these two specifically they could just come up and take right off.
  22. I know that, I'm just wondering if it can be expected that he will sign for under slot.
  23. I mean his floor is he blows his arm out in ST and gets paid 63 million to pitch 100 innings for them. It's a pretty big gamble, a team like the Astros that has maybe one or two years left in their window sure, but the Sox? Eh, doesn't make much sense imo. Not with the opt outs taking any trade or surplus value upside away.
