White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M

Probably not . Some people are hopeful and positive and some feel they were betrayed . Some prefer to praise and some to comdemn . We will always have that dichotomy that shapes the conflicts. -
Not at two years and this price…
-
Still need another OFer, though.
-
Acuna is your starting CF. Getz pretty much told you that when they traded for him in the Robert Deal.
-
Oh yeah, they got the 69th pick in the 2024 draft and Santos couldn’t stay healthy.
-
Santos, Houser and Robert trades are all fine imo. Fedde/Kopech wasn't great, Cease was bad.
-
The Santos trade wasn't bad. Cease - yikes. Jury's out on the Houser trade. Same with Robert.
-
The only other time I remember a Manager taking a player out like that was when Billy Martin took out Reggie Jackson at Comiskey Park. That happened well before the Cox/Jones incident. I'm sure there were others.
-
And the not so good trades… Santos Cease Houser Robert

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M

All true but not possible atm . I take more of a coach or parent perspective than I do as a fan. I cannot pour a lot or hate into a team I profess to love. Winning is great and we root for those who conquer their opponents . I understand the dynamic. I just rather pretend I'm a coach patting them on the back more than crying that their performances hurt me. I realize that makes me an oddball fan because I don't call players mental midgets or hate on the people under JRs management for sucking at development but then turning around and not giving coaches credit for actually giving players the tools to reach their potetial. Most of these guys can point to people or coaches in their development that made a difference. I'm hoping now with some recent examples that the Sox have more modern processes in place to maximize development. As fans were not going to remember the behind the scenes things or even be aware of most of it But to be aware of it to a degree and deny its existence seems like you prefer misery to hope. Or that winning is the only thing that matters. I like the good human interest stories too. -
Didn't want nor expect the Sox to sign him
-
Ah that sucks

What don't you like about the Crochet trade? Fedde/Kopech for Vargas +2 wasn't great, but he's your starting 3rd baseman that teams are calling on.

He's been doing a good job if you don't include any of his trades. -
Knowing that Berman was rooting for the Red Sox made winning that series even more sweeter.

I’m not sure what I should/allowed to post. But “Carlson is an electric defender at shortstop with an 80 arm and surprising power for someone who has barely begun to fill out his frame, coming into pro ball with a high floor thanks to that combination and the upside of a frequent All-Star if the White Sox can help him get to more contact with some swing changes.” Law List Athletic

Sam Phalen breaks down the case for Chris Getz as a good GM. The White Sox Have Been Bad — But Chris Getz Has Been Doing a Good Job

Keith Law's top 100 came out today. His blurb on Bonemer says he doesn't really have the arm to play on the left side of the IF, so he either winds up at 2nd base or left field. His bat will be his carrying tool. The only infielder who could possibly force the issue in the bigs this season is Antonacci. I would think somebody would have to stumble for Antonacci to get serious reps.

January 26, 1983 - The Sox and G. M. Roland Hemond embarrassed the Cubs by hinting through the media that they might select pitcher Fergie Jenkins after the Cubs left him unprotected in the free agent draft. Jenkins, the future Hall of Famer, was getting close to the magical 300-win mark in his career. The Sox were entitled to compensation after losing outfielder Steve Kemp to the Yankees. The Cubs were forced to trade Scott Fletcher, Dick “Dirt” Tidrow, Randy Martz and Pat Tabler to the Sox for a promise not to take Jenkins, along with pitchers Steve Trout and Warren Brusstar. The Sox then traded Tabler for Jerry Dybzinski. After it was all said and done, Cub G.M. Dallas Green was quoted as saying, “To say I’m relieved probably would be an understatement.” Fletcher would be a part of the 1983 divisional champion but his bigger impact perhaps came in 1990, for the “Doin' the Little Things” White Sox, who shocked baseball by winning 94 games. Fletcher was a defensive rock at second base and executed small things like bunting, hitting behind a runner and to the opposite field and driving in key runs exceptionally well. Tidrow did just about everything a relief pitcher could do in 1983 and Dybzinski stabilized a shaky infield in the early part of that same season. Unfortunately, his base running error in game #4 of the A.L.C.S. is what he is best remembered for. The Sox starting staff was so deep in 1983, with seven pitchers on the roster who all won at least 10 games in a Major League season, that Martz never really got a chance. He only made one emergency start that year in a game at Detroit. Those other pitchers who won at least 10 games were LaMarr Hoyt, Rich Dotson, Floyd Bannister, Britt Burns, Jerry Koosman and Steve Mura.

Good sign here. Law is better with positional prospects than pitching prospects IMO and he appears to be on the high end for Braden and Carlson.

MLBTR Offseason Outlook on White Sox
Chicago White Sox replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’ll keep saying it, but Meidroth is not the same as Madrigal. The former is one of the most selective hitters and the other is one of the most aggressive. Both have great bat to ball skills and not much power, but Meidroth is going to get on base at a significantly higher rate than Nick and has much better baseball IQ. Obviously it’s very much possible that the lack of power pushes Chase to a reserve infielder role, but he does offer a different and better skill set than Madrigal. -
Yeah, Meidroth is much better than Madrigal. He'll never have big power numbers, but he's shown so far to be a good hitter with good defense. Sosa will have bigger power numbers, but his defense is bad at best.

I think how things start will probably look a lot different at the end of the year. It's hard to see Colson staying at SS if they have prospects coming who are better defensively, but I could see him at 3B since they seemed interested in trying that a bit last season. Sosa is an intriguing bat who doesn't get on base, but if the White Sox value defense, it's hard to see him at a set position everyday unless his bat becomes difference making. When will Benemer be here? In 2026? Probably not to start the season at least. Chase is going to be the opening day 2B, but he has to get on base at a high clip. Then there's Vargas - he improved last season, but that doesn't mean he'll get regular at bats when a few of these guys start coming without further improvement. It's great they have options and a few of them are probably not ready (or even here yet with the #1 pick) for the majors. At this time last season, none of these guys were either in the majors or coming with all kinds of skepticism. Some of these guys will improve, some will get worse/stagnate or have injuries. More young talent will probably arrive in the middle infield over the the next season, but I think the outlook is generally positive with the amount of young talent/options that will be available of the next few years here at SS/2B.
