  1. The most interesting thing that I read in that article was Yoan being quoted that he would play wherever the team wanted him to. So, in response to the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it", the answer isn't that 3B is broken, but that 2B is. So it's not really true that it's "not broken." There's no question the Sox would be a better team with Yoan at 2B and any of those other names in the article at 3B, rather than most current 2B options who are currently free agents. Guys move around all the time to make the overall team better. There is no reason to make an exception for Moncada. To provide another example, if the Sox hadn't traded Tatis Jr to the Padres, and he was still on the Sox, do you think the Sox would have moved Tatis off SS or Tim Anderson?

  2. Honestly, all this is one more reason making me wonder just what I am rooting for as a fan. The players aren't tied to their fanbases since they they are just moving around to where their contracts will be best and I have no interest in following, much less rooting for, the owner and his wheeling and dealing.

  3. Yeah, for all the millionaires vs billionaires talk, it's the tertiary people that will suffer the most.

  4. I bet they are all reading SoxTalk, just to get some ideas.

  6. Does this mean posters will stop suggesting we move him to 2nd base?

  7. I feel bad for sportswriters right now. There is literally nothing about baseball to write at this time, so this is what we get.

  8. I think it's great that his overall popularity is basically a plot theme of the show. He knows he is just a guy, and in the worlds eyes he is an avenger but not one of the the greatest ones, just a background guy. It's a good tongue in cheek plot point imo

  9. How are the White Sox supposed to sell season tickets if they didn't come in second for these guys?

  10. It's a little slow and I really don't find the Hawkeye/Clint Barton character that interesting.....but I also didn't expect a 6 part Hawkeye series to change the world, and I enjoy watching it....so it's fine for what it is. Not everything needs to be unbelievable, being good is fine sometimes.

  11. We will be lucky if there is a deal in place by the end of February IMO. Both sides think their bargaining position gets stronger as ST gets closer. If they were serious about getting this settled they would be holding meetings daily. This is just posturing...and is very annoying.

  12. Love it, it's a lot darker than I expected

  13. I'm cool with him coming back as a fill-in guy. He excels in that role. But if he's our starting 2B, then we have a pretty significant downgrade from Nick Madrigal.

  14. People would have overlooked the ego if he had kept hitting, but he didn't do that either.

  15. His attitude and his 0-fer a month are both bright red flags. You never know though, sometimes guys are able to figure out how to reign themselves in. im sure this guy can reign himself in

  17. Gonna be a part of me sad to see the Micker era end without ever starting. I do think he can be a Franmil Reyes type and run into 30 or so homers a year somewhere while racking up the Ks. Butttt he quite simply has absolutely no spot on this club moving forward, and certainly not on the 26 man in 22.

  18. Its not about the owner's cash flow. Its about how this contracts can cripple the franchise moving forward because they have to pay a guy 35 million a year and he is hurt and sucks and the team is up against the luxury tax. Oh, and the contract is now unmovable. Also, you have to trade off assets because you can't afford to keep your own players because your saddled with albatross contracts.

  19. You can try to walk back your smart a comment that didn’t address my point, but the reality is chasing the top free agents each off season isn’t typically a good strategy. There’s ways of more prudently spending the same amount of dollars and getting a better bang for your buck. A high payroll doesn’t tell you the composition of the contracts (you of course know this but were intentionally being disingenuous). The Semien deal and many others leave the signing team with little/no upside optionality. Even if they perform they’re merely justifying the contract. Winning teams have some players outperforming their contracts. So no I’m not upset at all about Semien, and I’d prefer signings with upside optionality.
