Michael Brantley to Astros 2/32M
Brantley is about what I would expect. Could be credible.

White Sox looking into bullpen arms
At 38 Cruz could be an oncoming disaster. One year plus option would be wise. Sounds like a Cleveland kind of guy.

Rick Renteria Signs Contract Extension, length unknown
I want to see my guys diving into first base every day.

Rick Renteria Signs Contract Extension, length unknown
Not to forget how the Sox rolled over and died in September. Where was Rikkay. Great leader of young men.

Heyman says White Sox interested in Nelson Cruz
Sounds like an Adam LaRoche project.

Hahn says Eloy will spend most, if not all of the season in Chicago
Shocking. Any word on whether he can play LF.

Heyman says White Sox interested in Nelson Cruz
DH is the one spot where we had a guy emerge. Let's give up and go with the old guy instead.

Rick Renteria Signs Contract Extension, length unknown
I am really disappointed. I have seen a lack of strategy leadership and personality that should disqualify him. I do not feel he is an MLB manager. He will not guide us to or through the playoffs.

Rosenthal: “rival exec believe white Sox will spend big”
A lot of athletes could use a deferral which resembles an annuity. Oops I'm broke and retired. I don't see 300 for Machado. Maybe if they signed both guys they would want to come here.

Dear FO: Harper VS Machado, Soxtalk Will Help You Decide
Word is the Giants have been long-focussed on Harper and will be serious bidders. I expect the Sox will put out a modest initial bid at maybe 5 x 30 before things get real.

Burdi removed from AFL "general fatigue"
I think it is a given that any org would have 2-3 guys in recovery from TJ working their way back. It would also explain why Coop is not big on velocity as his top focus. Not all arms are going to respond well trying to add 3-5 mph to their fastball.

Rebuild
There was little sign of progress at the MLB level in 2018. Maybe 2019 will bring some more. Agonizing over the disappointments gets really tedious.

Burdi removed from AFL "general fatigue"
This post I find ironic because my first concern was the challenges during the recovery period between TJ surgeries. They knew enough not to push Zack beyond the normal discomfort level at this stage which is good. Also a shout-out to all the posters including Kopech in the 2020 rotation. You have to stock many arms and hope for the best.

2018 MLB catch all thread
Word is The Tribe financial plan may involve moving veterans for the right offers. In other words losing some veteran talent in MLB's worst division ever would not keep them out of first place.

FA pitchers the Sox could target
Time for Shields to move on maybe KC could use him. Eovaldi would be nice but someone will overpay. Sox will find an under the radar candidate.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
After his first year of health quirks I would expect Jose to bounce back and play full-time in 2019. After that all bets are off. Jose and Avi we expect to be dangled as trade bait along the way.

Sox Exercise Jones Option @ $4.65M; Buyout Shields
I believe insurance normally has a lot of contingencies beyond our assumptions. I doubt you just put in a claim when a guy goes on the DL. You might have some specifics being involved in the game.

Sox Exercise Jones Option @ $4.65M; Buyout Shields
Would not pay Jones. Would take $2M to retire and take my chances. If they think Jones will stay healthy then I question their judgment. He might give you two decent months. Any thoughts on the future career of Chris Sale who seems to be at a crossroads.

Sox clear 3 more spots off of 40 man
Would rather give Cordell some AB's and see how it goes. I suppose Engel will be back unless they pick up a solid vet.
-
The Moncada / Madrigal Situation
Would like to keep Rondon over Silly Sanchez who is meh and belongs in the North Korean league.

Your Offseason Plan
YoMo has proven to be a record-breaker and you have to respect that. There may be an HoF exhibit and future marketing with the Nike swoosh.

Davidson two way player
This is no surprise. With pitching taking up roster spots guys like Matt will become a necessity. No one wants to acknowledge MLB's roster problem. People agonizing over Moncada and Anderson hardly noticed that they rarely got a day off. In the 1960's teams had 8-9 pitchers and now it is 13.

Kevan Smith claimed off Waivers by Angels
They can't let Wel go when they still owe him. Imagine an All-Star team of Sox FAs.

2018 World Series - Red Sox v. Dodgers
So if four inning starters is the new thing does that make Matt Davidson our hoss out of the pen.
