No one is being let go this year. Can anyone on here seriously tell me that if you were told the Sox would finish the season with a .583 record with: How many rookies or 2nd yr starters? No Kopech A down year from Moncada that you would have assumed RR/Coop would lose their jobs? Now, IMO they did this despite of them not bc of them..... but I would be shocked if anyone is let go after an overall successful year. However, 2021 will be different. We now have expectations after a good year and should see improvement from players. If they dont get it done (deep into the play-offs) RR will be gone (is he only signed through 2021? they would simply not resign him vs firing him).
-
I think they should. But bc of how the team performed despite of him they won't. Now mind you, to his defense, he played a season w 2 starting pitchers, how many rookies or 2nd yr players in the line up? Moncada wasn't himself post covid. Despite the above, if you really pay attention, the guy sets poor lineups and doesn't manage the BP well.
-
Why Bummer instead of Foster? Whatever... I guess it doesn't matter as long as they can pitch. Crochet better not be arm issues.
-
I'd start Dunning and see how he does. Pull him the split second he gets hit or loses his control. Let's assume 2 inn: 2 Crochet 2 Foster 2 Bummer/Huer 1 Colome Edit: In all honesty I would mind saying f it and playing Crochet longer. Lets see if he can go 3-4 (based on pitches thrown) then go straight to Bummer.

please no rodon

IMO I'd be happy if we: Resign Colome Resign McCaan (but i think we lose him and Collins becomes the back up) We fill in DH with Vaughn/Abreu We sign Cespedes and/or Colas and we grab a stop gap for 2021. Brantley, Markakis, etc? someone in that level. We sign a SP. Hoping for Bauer but I would not hold my breath. Never know though. Keep Leury/Mendick/ for the bench Sign a LR pitcher I think unless Rodon shows something this post-season (good luck w/ that) we cut our ties. I think we try Lopez in the BP on a short leash. Pray that Cease and Dunning progress next year. That Kopech comes back w/ his stuff knowing he will have limited innings.

Id rather face the As than anyone else. I know we have been bad at their home but no fans and this is basically a while new group of players.
-
I read that as he is playing like Degrom.

I'm happy for the season. Knowing how many rookies we have starting it's pretty unheard of to be as good as we are (were?). This includes Moncada's health. Bummer missing time. Etc. With that said.... I'm going to be pretty pissed if RR is back next season. It's obvious we've done what we've done this season despite of him not bc of him. He's lost several games with his poor lineup and BP handling.
-
No one knows yet. He has looked good. Next year he hopefully won't have room. Put him in the BP or stretch him. We need to use him this year as a BP piece. Next year we need to see if he can be a starter. Bummer I'm pretty sure has found his spot.
-
We'd only consider him on a short contract which is supposedly all he wants. 1 yr deals. He's obviously a nut.... but too much talent not to add if you can. I think our leaders would keep him in check. If not.... we're talking one year of putting up with him.
-
Seems like a guy that knows what he wants and wants to compete/win. We have enough leadership (Abreu/DK/TA) that I would love to sign him. That's besides the obvious talent.

thanks for the recommendations guys

sorry for the random post. Delete away after I get some suggestions. I'm in Chicago for only the second time ever. What's a good bar to go to and watch a game with fellow sox fans? Watched them clinch PO spot yesterday and I literally was the only sox fan there. All cubs peeps.

White Sox @ Pirates - 9/8/20 - 6:05 CT
Capital G replied to ShoeLessRob's topic in 2020 Season in Review
I would love to know how some of you handle your own life outside of the White Sox. Do you get a promotion at work but stub your toe the next day and proclaim that your life sucks? One loss after we own 4 in a row and if you read this thread in a vacuum you'd think the Sox were the worst team in baseball. -
and we still cant handle them ?
-
Unlikely to go down like this...... but all of the below should be in consideration......Could we walk away with several awards? Robert ROY Abreu MVP Giolito CY Anderson batting title?
-
Which Sox player has your vote for MVP so far?

I was happy w/ the Mazara trade bc of his potential but, even in a terrible situation (COVID), I have seen enough. I dont want to trade any of our top prospects so I would love a Brantley stop-gap until we see if one of our young minor league guys can take over in 2022, if not, make a trade. We need a SP since we dont know what is going to happen w/ Kopech. I'd like one of Stroman. Bauer I think will get too much. Collins becomes the full time back up C and plays some DH if his bat shows up. Vaughn takes over for EE. Move Burdi or Heuer to closer bc I dont think we pay Colome' and then sign some other BP help. Let Cisheck go. Move Lopez/Rodon to BP and some spot starts if needed. Keep L Garcia.
-
WTF got into Jose and his D? Did he actually focus on it during the off season?
-
I dislike RR more and more. Why not rest Yoan against the Pirates and Royals when we all knew he had leg issues? Nah, let's push him and then sit him against the Twins!

Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
Capital G replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
last i checked we are a top offensive team in baseball, and that's w/ EE and Mazara struggling. I dont see a reason to bring him up unless he magically learned how to play a better RF then Mazara. -
I'm guessing no as they look to move someone that stands out into the role. Save that $ for SP and RF.

Went to bed when Twins went right back up after we tied. In the past 15 years I wake up to a loss. Feels good man. I'll be in Chicago for only my second time in 3 weeks. I can't wait to find a Sox bar and watch a game with other Sox fans lol Any recommendations?
