  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Mr yasny. I agree with you. Please pardon my hatred towards the packers. Being a bear fan for 50 years does this to you. I have many packer -bear stories over the years. Bars, at games. You name it, I have seen it all. I like the packers AS much as we all here like the cubs. It is hard for me to embrace any packer fan. I embrace a Packer fan every day.....because I married one..... She also likes the Cubs and the Milwaukee Bucks. She grew up in Wisconsin - but that doesn't explain the Cub thing..... But we don't argue about sports at all, because it's only sports, and not anything important at all. Life's hard enough without adding goofy arguments to it.
  2. I hope Brett does what he feels is best for himself and his family. He's a great QB and it would be sad to see him go off on such a sour note, but when it's time it's time. Can you imagine how he'd have been revered in Chicago if he'd played for the Bears?
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Kap, what are some extra revenue sources NHL teams could have usen if it wasn't for Bettman? There's the misperception - the only way to save hockey is for the people who run the NHL to realize that hockey IS a niche sport, at least in the US anyway, and it isn't going to have the same ANYTHING as the major sports. It's not going to have the same ratings, revenues, mainstream acceptance, none of that. There are enough people who love it in certain geographical areas to support it, but it's simply not going to be a national sport. It's just NOT... Know your place in the foodchain, fellas....or die off completely....

    Iron Chef

Rachael Ray has a LARGE lower portion ( and I say that in admiration - cue Sir Mixx-A-Lot right about now....), but she has a bit too much of that Katie Couric/Kelly Ripa hyper-perky thing for my liking. The FHM pix were enjoyable, though...
  5. It's impossible to name one all-time favorite song, so I'll try to do a short list: Metallica - Creeping Death Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song Naked Raygun - Vanilla Blue The Clash - Safe European Home Public Image Limited - Rise Tank - This Means War there are so many more, this isn't even a fair question.... :banghead
  6. Here's my take on it: I'm grateful. I'm grateful for the memories of Magglio in a Sox uniform. I'm grateful that he DIDN'T take the Sox' offer before his knee blew out. I'm grateful that the White Sox decided to try a different approach rather than trotting out the exact same lineup with the exact same result as the past 4 years. I don't hate Magglio, and I don't wish him any ill will....except an 0-for-any series he plays against the Sox.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) The press will take care of this for us. As a joke why note have a Sosa bobblehead day, in an oriole uniform. Yeah, they could give a SamME bobblehead with a cracked batting helmet, and a button that you push to hear this sound: "AHHH-CHOOOO!" and then the bobblehead folds at the waist and you hear this sound: "AIYEEEE!!!" ...and then the bobblehead can't get back upright for 6 to 8 weeks...
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Bruce is awful. ...but....but....he's Chicago's premier baseball authority.....
  9. Can you imagine the s***storm if Sosa somehow fails his physical? MAN, that would be entertaining...
  10. I'll tell ya what, if she has anything like the flu I've had all weekend, I'm not surprised at all that she collapsed. I felt woozy every time I stood up all weekend. Fever, chills, body aches, throat RAKED from coughing....it's been miserable here in Criticville. Hope Hillary's feeling better.

    Iron Chef

I never could get into Iron Chef. AB is the best, but even he cannot get me interested in Iron Chef. And I couldn't be less surprised that Bobby Flay is a cock. He seems so smug it's unreal.
  12. ...somebody wants to get hiiiiiiiigh.......
  13. Yeah, you can say a lot of things about that team, like that they should have gone to at least one more Super Bowl, but that season was NO fluke. Quite possibly the most dominant defensive team the NFL had ever seen to that point. ...oh, and I have no idea if Mcmahon's restaurant is still open or not.

    U2 fans?

QUOTE(The Bones @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Yeah, especially if you consider a revolutionary band that has reinvented themselves multiple times, who's been around for over 20 years and sold millions of records, including one of the best albums ever produced (Paul's Boutique) to be "really bad hip hop". :finger I understand and appreciate their influence and popularity, but I also have no interest in listening to them. I wouldn't call it bad, just uninteresting to me personally. They sound like 3 Flavor Flav's to me.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) You need a dose of reality if you think Hendry is going to open the season with that outfield. Once the Sosa trade is done, Hendry will start his own flurry of activity. Book it. The only bad thing for Hendry is that he has no more sucker trade bait left. Even Farnsworth has some explainable upside to fool another club into trading for his loony ass. Otherwise, Hendry's gonna finally have to start dealing his prize prospects if he wants value in return. If he ever had to deal Angel Guzman, I think he'd cry himself to sleep and wet his pants.
  16. s***, man, if we're pessimistic we're bad fans, and if we're optimistic we're delusional or something. Can't f***in' win for losing. Call me delusional, but I'm excited to see what this "new look" team can do.
  17. Damn. I'm wondering if maybe Josh has a sibling who's pulling some s*** on him. Or maybe he got hacked? This is a pretty severe change of attitude. Josh gets angry and whatever, but not usually this harshly... ...hope that's what it is, cuz my scroll bar is broked!!! and FWIW, I thought the original post was pretty funny...
  18. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Who's behind this, what are they saying in these meetings? "lets make him narrower and it'll look tougher, therefore we'll be better." Well....a meaner Falcon equalled a trip to the NFC championship game, so why not???
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxmurph @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) I can not go into details but there is a movie in development, about 16" softball, that is supposed to shoot in Chicago this Summer. I know the Writer and Producer and will update Soxtalk as things progress. This movie is about 16" softball, "About Last Night" had 16" softball as almost a backdrop to the relationships that the characters had going. This would be a great movie for all of Chicago showcasing our game, a game that we invented and that we still play better than anyone in the country. PS "Keep it pure, no gloves" I've been playing 16" softball since I was 18, so that's.......(carry the two).......23 years, and I love the game, but I can tell you that a movie about 16" softball would bore me to tears. Plus, I'd bet anything that worthless asswipe windbag no-talent, no ratings getting f***wad Mike North is gonna wriggle his way into that movie somehow.
  20. Father to son, cute! Tom Hanks > Intercourse Rita wilson > Childbirth Colin Hanks I WIN!!!!
  21. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) There is a big difference between a paid endorsement running in a commercial and a government buying off a critic. DAMNIT, WHERE'S MY CHECK???????? I am SO ready to be bought off.....all they'd have to do is fill in the blanks: "I believe that ___________ is the best ________________ in the history of ______________. Anyone who dares to criticize _______________ is UNAMERICAN, and surely is supporting the destruction of our way of life!!!!!!" Now where was I.....oh yes......DAMNIT, WHERE'S MY CHECK???????"
  22. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) Mr. Show is great. It's too bad Bob Odenkirk has been reduced to that awful Adult Swim cartoon about the mayor. and REALLY bad beer commercials..... ....at least David Cross is still putting out EXCELLENT comedy CDs!
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) I'ts just good holsem fun. Rancid, by the way....... Just sayin'....
  24. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) IMO this team would be much better with Willie off the bench then Timo. It would also give us more flexibility because he gives us a 2B and an OF. However Timo wouldn't be traded unless he got caught pissing in KW cereal and even then it's kind of iffy (because they love him so much for some damn reason). I'd much rather have Willie able to step in and become the new CF if and when Pods or Iguchi fails. Timo should be traded.... Sadly Harris will be traded... Only difference is, Timo knows his role on the team and Willie is a disgruntled employee right now. Harris is of no use to the Sox unless (1) he accepts his role and is willing to do it or (2) if Iguchi or Uribe get hurt.
  25. Well, so much for optimism. Read in the Sun-Times today that both sides agree that no progress has been made and no future talks are scheduled. The talks scheduled for today were cancelled because both sides feel they're going nowhere.
