QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) I have to agree. (Oh and thanks for leaving the Canes and the Sens off of that list. ) I would cut NO Canadian teams off the list. Hockey is a Canadian sport, and it makes me cringe whenever a Quebec leaves for Colorado, or a Winnipeg leaves for Phoenix.... ...not sure WHY I left the Canes off the list, they certainly have the lack of interest and crowds in that area to merit extinction...

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) I agree the league is way too watered down... they need to drop atleast 6 teams from this league...over expansion for a league that doesn't have the following is only killing the league. Panthers Thrashers Coyotes Sabres Penguins Blues Mighty Ducks these are the teams that should go.... heh...kidding about the Blues.....sort of.....

"Team is where tradition exists." I smell our 2005 marketing slogan!!!

Just saw on SportsCenter that the Red Sox are going to trade Doug Mientkiewicz to the Mets for a minor leaguer. The trade is expected to be announced today. Thoughts?

Wonder if those Sosa for Floyd rumors spark up again?

So I'm in the car taking my Mom home ( yeah, I'm a fine young man, blah blah blah ) and I turn to the Score for a second. Murphy is taking a call from a Sox fan who tells him the Sox are "right on the Cubs' heels talent-wise and will probably finish with a better record than the Cubs". Murphy proceeds to STUN me with his opinion that "the Sox are the clear favorite to win the AL Central, while the Cubs could finish third behind the Cardinals and Reds(???)", that "they improved their team MUCH more than the Cubs did, obviously" and - this one really got me, coming from him - that "if you made one of those All-Chicago All-Star teams today, you'd probably have more Sox on it than Cubs". Now I realize that all three of those statements are true ( although that third one is a close call ), but for him to actually SAY those things was very surprising. I can only think of two reasons for him to admit those things: 1. He's trying to do some kind of "curse by praise" or 2. He's trying to prop himself up as an objective, rational baseball guy. ...he's still a dope....

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) I hope that all these moves, including adding Iguchi, is leading to people buying up tickets. I was at Comiskey, on Jan. 14th, and the turnout was not all that great (I realize it was freezing). As much as I do not buy JR and KW saying the Sox 'Break-Even', its hard to tell them to spend, spend, spend...when we don't fill the place up very well. So lets go guys...start getting tickets (and not just on half price days)...and lets pack the place this year. Our players deserve it. Go Sox in '05! But there was no GAME on January 14th, so of course the turnout was bad.... I honestly can't say at the moment how many games I'll be able to afford this year, but I'll make as many games as I possibly can. Half Price Mondays, HERE I COME!!!!

Entering the season, I'd have laughed at any talk of playoffs. The way they play now, with the focus on defense, I think they have a legit shot at the playoffs, and not just the 8th spot, EITHER ( not "wither", they WILL NOT wither!! ). Who'da thunk it???

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) How long did it take you to come up with that? About 3 minutes, I guess. Made it up as I went along, actually. I saw "Sammytember" in 2k5's post and got to thinking. I'm very clever and intelligent.... -
Bad day, huh?

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Iguchi. Yep. Iguchi. I like the sound of that.

Did you check Novembruary? -
I don't know about the broken tail, but prison should take care of the sodomizing part for this jagoff.

The uniforms are great, and MB and PK would be the leaders, with AJ being my candidate for the next team leader.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) as much as this offseason was very active, and has changed the make up of the team. I still think that this is the season where we enter with the most question marks. The team is totally different, and we are heading in a different direction. Does anyone agree that there is a definite possibility of being really good, but also really really terrible. But in fairness, this can be said for most teams. Injuries, etc. can cause many teams' seasons to fall down the crapper. You can't get guys without question marks for "middle-market" money. Kenny has done a GREAT job of getting good risk-to-return guys with the budget he was given.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) I think this was the best off season in years. The Sox totally remade this team in a short period of time, without cutting payroll, while simultaniously getting all of their holes filled. Now the job is restocking the minors. All the minor-leaguers thrown into deals has drained the system a bit. IF the Iguchi move is true, KW absolutely gets an A from me. Like you said, he addressed all needs, bolstered the bullpen and did it within budget. Meanwhile, Billy Beane was selling off his rotation....
-
Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I'm going to wait for official confirmation before I pencil him into the 2 slot in the lineup and second base. I hope it's true, I REALLY hope it's true, but I'll wait for KW to announce it. I was going to try to write that in a style mocking that original translation, but I can't even write that confusingly.....only SS2k5 can....

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) I somewhat agree and disagree with you on that point. I am offended by and appreciate your opinion on this issue, sort of...

Aside from not being very similar at all, they're incredibly similar in a not-really-similar kind of way.

Without the NHL, this has been an extremely boring offseason, except for the moves the Sox made and the Wolves. Spring Training cannot come quickly enough.

Better not have Z's partner go solo.... "Hey, everybody, it's time for the ME show....."

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) The bible has been altered all the time. The concept of holy trinity wasn't even introduced until the 5th Century and I believe the Council of Trent. That's a pretty fundamental change for the New Testament. The bible is a living document. That is to say that it has been updated, modified over time through various different editions and translated. Although the basic story is the same, its odd how you can different messages and emphasis from edition to edition. The holy trinity...isn't that onion, celery and bell pepper? Oh wait, that's Emeril's cooking trinity.....never mind....
