QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Careful you are going to get a naked Critic picture on here... :puke Loosely quoting Slap Shot: "I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna wiggle my dick at 'em, and when I do, EVERY woman in that room with the exception of my wife is gonna run screaming for the exits!!" I seriously would NEVER subject anyone to the horror that is a naked Critic!!!!

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Was? Medical science these days....

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I'm all over this one. The most expensive price, for a damn good seat is like $15.00 I think. That is correct - and the best part is, both teams will have their rosters set by then, so we won't be seeing any #86's playing, unless 86 is the number that player wants!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) I think there is a big group of us going up there on Friday. We'll have to swap seat info and I'll buy you a beer It would be great to finally meet you, Mike! I'm in section BL104, row 3 - right field bleachers. I'll PM you as the date approaches.

I think we're arguing more about this than they are. My opinion remains - I'm sorry to see Magglio leave, sad it had to be this way, but excited about the 2005 team with the moves that were made. Maggs took a gamble turning down the Sox' offer, for whatever reason he did ( deferred money or whatever ), and luckily for him another team is interested in taking a chance on him and his knee, albeit a hedged bet by the Tigers. I'm not going to boo him if I go to a Sox/Tigers game, but I'm not going to cheer him either. I'm going to treat him with the same polite detachment I have for most opposing players. I don't hate him, he's just not on my team anymore. I don't care who's "right", both sides made choices and this is how it turned out.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Well at least on the bright side this article paints the cubs about as badly as it paints us. Still the guy who wrote it is a jackass. Is this guy real or is he just Mariotti collecting two paychecks. It's hard to believe there are two sports writers that stupid. Couch should stick to what he does best, which is shining the light on the Prince Richie Daley Empire's dirty dealings. Maybe he wrote this stupid piece just to piss Richie off...

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) IIRC... it's $150 for rows 2 and back, $200 for the first row (might be $200 and $250 - I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look ). It does include food, drink, ticket, and parking. But still.. that's pretty steep for most people. IMO it's ridiculous to pay that much for a ticket to a baseball game, but if people want to pay it, more power to 'em, who am I to say?

I agree with TLAK, especially when it comes to defense. That's why Dye will be a key. If he can hold runners to a single on RF gappers and such, that will be SO big in helping to prevent big innings. My key players are Dye, AJ, Duque and Pod.

Ex-Sox Player Admits to Steroids!
The Critic replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose Canseco is the male equivalent of an aging bimbo who can't deal with the fact that nobody fawns over her anymore. He's a pathetic attention whore. -
I think he's going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.

BUMPED to report that I just grabbed 3 tickets for the Friday night April Fool's Day game. ( The wife works every weekend, so the Saturday game was out of the question ) Just couldn't refuse 5 dollar bleacher seats. 3 tickets, 23 dollars AFTER service charges. Can't beat it.

I can't disagree with any of what you said. I will, however, suggest that PK will probably hit a few fewer than he did in 2004. I'll take a lower HR total if the new lineup gets on base and makes things happen. And I'm thinking 15 or so from Frank if her returns in late May or early June.

If you had total control over sports...
The Critic replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'd disband the Yankees first of all. Second, I'd institute one-year contracts for all athletes. Third, I'd deny Steinbrenner the right to own any sports team in any league anywhere. Fourth, I'd deny Mariotti any press credentials for any game in any league anywhere. Next, I'd banish Gary Bettman and Bob Goodenow to a deserted island together, so for the rest of their lives they would only have each other to talk to. Then I'd get me a beer. Hacker-Pschorr, of course... -
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) Why in the hell would the Marketing guy hire the radio personality...??? Yeah, everyone knows that is the responsibility of the catering manager....

QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I believe OJ was found not guilty.. thats all I have to say about that I agree. I also believe that OJ is spending every waking moment searching for the "real killers". I believe that because that's what OJ SAID he was gonna do....

You know, I always kind of thought in the back of my mind that these people couldn't be stupid enough to flush an entire season down the s***ter, but it now appears inevitable that it's going to happen. They waited HOW LONG to even start talking, and now they're having too-little, too-late BS conversations in FEBRUARY? IMO, all this is doing is trying to set ground rules for the late-summer talks, or attempting to prove an impasse for the courts. This is NOT about trying to hammer out a fair deal for both sides, or getting players back on the ice. This absolutely blows. The stupidity is astounding. I wish I didn't care, that I didn't miss NHL hockey as much as I do. It would make it easier to make fun of everyone involved in this mess. I'd be stunned if Friday's talks amounted to anything at all.

Personally, I'm grateful to Canada for Moe Berg and his group, The Pursuit Of Happiness! I loved that band!

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) This is an entirely true statement. Your venue, your call on who plays. No First Amendment issue here. It is a censorship issue, but the owners of the Forum are within their legal rights to limit who does and does not take the stage. That said, fans of the band and like-minded bands should file this away in long-term memory and should take a lesson from the conservative Christian groups that often band together to express their opinions via their purchasing power. Don't see shows at the Forum if you are a fan - drive the 50 miles and catch a headliner somewhere else the next night. If you are a band that objects to the decision, don't book future gigs there, and voice your opinions on the issue so fans understand your decision. Good call, Jim. Accept the decision, but make a decision of your own not to go to that venue again. Dollar votes and all that....

I like this part: "Come on, it's a Wednesday night!" WHOOOO!!! No laws apply on Wednesdays!!!!! As mentioned before, he should thank his lucky stars ( and those dirty nasty police ) that he was just shooed away and not charged with anything.

They can have him. I was never a fan. Good luck to him, but I won't miss him at all.

Dog Day...another gimmick day that I avoid at all costs.

I actually had to walk a Cub fan off the ledge at work today. ( NO, not LITERALLY.... ) Told him that a year of Burnitz IS going to be better than a year of Sosa. Bernitz HAS to be a better fielder than Sosa, he just HAS to, there's NO WAY he's as bad or worse. Burnitz won't play Chase The Triple around the right field corner like Corky did VERY regularly. Burnitz has decent numbers as Wrigley. Burnitz is not a clubhouse cancer, self-centered, ego and steroid-riddled, gloryhound like the Shrinking Gladiator. Burnitz will put up very similar numbers to SamMEEEE's, without the daily drama show. Picking up Spiccoli was not a bad move - letting it get to the point where he was the best remaining option WAS.
