  1. Yeah, OAA liked him; UZR, DRS, and FG didn't like him so much. Defensive metrics are pretty voliatile in general, I'll usually take the average or culmination of them all over about a 3 year window. Doing that, he's pretty neutral - just looking at 2B. He's been pretty solid at 3B, but not really needed. He's been terrible everywhere else.
  2. Limits on these at BO are microscopic, so I'd wait on some Pinnacle or Bookmaker #'s, but that said this feels about right. Sox are in a bad division which hopefully should inflate their win totals a bit.
  3. There is more to taxes than income tax, but even beyond that we paid Harrison 5.5 million so his take home post tax will be $5,227,750. Obviously Miller is getting the 2nd year guaranteed though which is a difference.
  4. Where is this Harrison is a great defender narrative coming from? He's been a neutral or negative defender via multipl metrics since 2017.
  5. I just have no idea why people here can say this with such confidence. They haven't been legitimately linked to him outside of the "he'd be a good fit" crowd. At this point, I'd be surprised if the Sox even have an offer out there for Conforto.
  6. I just really don't like or trust montas. If you have doubts about crochet as a starter, Sheets + him would be fine for a nice arm. Not sure I trust the sox to assess crochet at this point. If he has any chance of starting I wouldn't move him. If he doesn't, I'd ship him.
  7. Yeah, and honestly I was really pleasantly surprised by his LF last year. He is serviceable out there; far from a butcher and possibly even slightly plus because he catches everything he gets to and it's a horrible defensive position. Right Field seems absolutely outrageous; not only does he have limited range but his arm is a 1st base arm.
  8. lol ok pal. I'll go ahead and not look at 328 PA's and 160 PA's as the be-all-end-all for guys. Sheets was a pleasant surprise last year. Vaughn is one of the better hitting prospects of my lifetime.
  9. Amazing thing is even with a couple rough months, Vaughn was top 35ish in avg EV, top 30ish in max EV, top 40ish in Hard hit %, top 50ish in barrel %. Vaughn is going to be about as consistent and good of a hitter as the Sox have seen since Frank.
  10. Vaughn has had some of the most ridicolous circumstances put in front of him after being draft. Missed season from COVID, brought right up next year. Asked to play positions he's never played. Vaughn still one of the three best college hitters I've ever seen. Guys swing is bum proof as I call it; no wasted movement, barrel in the zone for so long, direct path to the ball. Vaughn is going to be a stud. It was all a timing issue, and having never seen those big league sliders low and away. He'll figure that out sooner than later, and the guy will be a straight machine afterwards.
  11. If Yolbert ended up being a viable big leauge piece, it would be absolutely hilarious given how much everyone on Soxtalk has dogged that signing. For that reason alone, I'm rooting for it.
  12. Andrew Vaughn is a first baseman. Even at the high end of the earning structure there's not much risk or reason to try and manipulate his service. It's just bad PR and bad process.
  13. I've never been a fan of service time manipulation in the first place, and it should honestly never be happening during the middle of a championship window none the less outside of one.
  14. Not sure who said that, I laid out that most teams have pitching depth issues. Dodgers also have one of the best lineups of the last 50 years, and one of the reason they're short arms is because Bauer is a clown. With Bauer, May and Kershaw they have 6 starters - 7 if you count Gonsolin. If the Sox didn't have Giolito and Cease they'd be starting Me and Wegner.
  15. Vaughn bomb after hearing people relegate him to AAA for Gavin freaking Sheets. Vaughn doesn't need to get work in against bum AAA arms. Guy needs to learn at the big league level.
  16. Kershaw and Dustin May are hurt; May out until at the earliest June/July. Bauer will likely be suspended for a decent chunk of the season. The Dodgers don't even have 5 starters as of now. ANd they are relying on Heaney and Gonsolin right now. Price is very likely going to receive starts in the first few months of the season.
  17. Man, you had me with the keep him part, but that move Hendriks out of the 9th part has always been so weird to me. You're basically punishing Hendriks because Kimbrel sucks.
  18. Dodgers have no pitching depth, I highly doubt they would trade Price at this point.
  19. Used to be a big Paddack guy, but he's washed. He can't develop a third pitch and can't be a two pitch starter with Fastball/Change up.
  20. I'm really not sure why the Padres always get grouped into these conversations; the Padres stink.
