La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
Didn't Stroman retract his comments last time he did this? I imagine his agent is going to be picking up the phone shortly; or maybe the Sox have expressed no interest in the first place so he knows there's nothing to lose.

Maybe, and if the Sox are interested and offer him the most money and he declines I'll be the first to say I was wrong. IMO though, I just don't think it happens. There are a lot of POS's in MLB clubhouses throughout the game. End of the day, you sign with a team for money, and you enjoy playing because you're around the guys. Odds that Tony spends much time in the clubhouse and not inside his office are likely pretty slim. If you can win a World Series, play with some guys you enjoy or think are fun to be around, and make big money doing it I think you'll look past the temporary Maniquin in the managers office.

It's his first in the state though; they don't have jurisdiction to use his other charge against him in their proceedings I don't believe.

1. No Free Agent is avoiding the Sox because TLR got a DUI 2. I said this before, but the majority of white people in baseball are Republicans; this may bother some, but it's simply a fact. Many would likely have attended the rally with Tony if asked.

I think this is a real possibility but in the back of my mind I keep thinking.... we're talking about TLR right now. He loves all attention; always has. Guy might be enjoying this.

Hopefully just a way for Tony to save as he steps away "willingly" to focus on himself and his health. Some would say family but no one believes that with Tony.

Looks like the one report was "someone called the police" and the other was he was on the side of the road. Cant find the tweet about him calling so likely made up.

Isn't the report that he called the police after hitting the curb, basically telling on himself. Hilarious; then he became belligerent, likely asking the cops if they knew who he was as he did last time. When this tape releases it will be even more embarrassing.

Yeah, it's just nonsense. People love to sit on these absurd moralistic towers where they would act altruistic at all times, but what the heck do I have to do with some dumb ass my boss hired acting a fool? That's not my problem, that's my bosses problem.

Blood on their hands? Because Tony is only capable of driving drunk due to his employer? Give it a rest. He has no business being hired for this job, and it's a position with plenty of qualified candidates that don't come with baggage so heavy you gotta pay extra, but Tony La Russa is a grown man and him being a POS doesn't mean Rick Hahn would have blood on his hands for decisions Tony La Russa made. Jaysus.

I'm 99% sure that corporate offices throughout America are riddled with people convicted of DUI. You're going to have a hard time finding a job if things like that become required.

Ricky after Jerry made him hire Tony: Rick after "someone" leaked the story to ESPN and Passan:

I think this works out for the Sox; I think La Russa inevitably steps down because he doesn't want to deal with this shit that he caused.

Why would you want things to go poorly for the players who have worker their asses off and done nothing wrong? Weird take.

He's 76 years old; probably forgot he was drunk.

I mean, they're not going to say they had no idea as that would be even more embarrassing. Maybe they get lucky here and it gives them an out; probably not though.

Nothing to see here folks... this is going well. This hiring is like an Atlanta freeway during a snowstorm.

2020 Election Thoughts
Actions are a lot more important than words; tone means about 1%, and while Trump was exhausting for us who followed politics and current events, it's obvious many don't care. So while I appreciate a non-hostile rhetoric, I would appreciate if Joe Biden actually did good things for people and wasn't a man of corporate intent as he's been for much of his 50 years in public "service" from which he is now worth 9 million dollars. Watching countless Republicans come out and praise Biden for slamming the progressive movement doesn't give me much hope for change because Biden has always been closer to say John Kasich than he is to an actual liberal who wants a Great Green New Deal to save the environment, or fair and equal health-care for all. What I hope is that I am wrong, and that democrats see the writing on the wall; "we are losing the working class Americans", which includes the minorities that we have spoken to in platitudes without executing any true community uplifting policies over the past few decades - the Latino's who we assume will vote democratic as we ignore their pleas for help over and over. It was difficult to be excited yesterday as we watched the Mayor of Chicago promote people being out on the streets "celebrating" while Illinois recorded 10% of the national cases - 10% of a day that was the worst since the pandemic began. We have become a nation in which, if you agree with me your actions aren't irresponsible. The standard for both sides is merely not the same, as many forgive and rationalize the decisions their "team" makes while admonishing the other side for their reckless actions. I was happy yesterday too, but we're in the middle of a pandemic and hundreds of thousands of Americans have died. It's been a tough year for all of us; hell, earlier in the year I lost my job that I had worked to get for 5 years. My wife hasn't seen her mother in two years because our trips got cancelled due to the virus, and Colombia walling off their boarder to Americans. I understand the angst and pain of being locked indoors with the impending winter coming, but you can't look at the other side and tell them how they don't care about lives.... how they're reckless and negligent... how they're complicit in the loss of lives because they don't care about their neighbor or grandparents; only to go on and celebrate recklessly in the streets when the virus is ravaging through our communities worse than it ever has. It's important in society for our judgements to be held to the same standard, if not even a higher standard for those we agree. It's great that Obama was a fantastic orator, and his message was uplifting to many who needed it but his overall execution was destructive to the lives of the average American and he's not the first Democratic President whose words didn't match their policies and execution. Similarly to religion, I respect the hope it gives but I despise the destruction it has left in its wake. It's great that the hostile orange man is gone, but it's important that we don't lose site of what has caused so much pain for so many over the decades of the past. Economic inequality has ravaged through our communities; environmental destruction has destroyed entire communities and states; water is still undrinkable in flint Michigan and throughout other poverty riddled communities. It's nice to hear someone who says everyone matters, again, but it'll be even more refreshing if for the first time in my lifetime a President actually shows that he gives a fuck. Oh, and Lori Lightfoot; after months of shaming and degrading those who were weary of the sincerity of lockdowns... those who lost their jobs and livelihoods due to government forced closures, only to be left out to rot after being given a lousy $1200 stimulus check.... it takes a lot of nerve to be out on the streets promoting mass gatherings while the local hospitals are at capacity... But hey, it's 2020 and if you agree with me... it's OK to be irresponsible.

2020 Election Thoughts
It does not prevent it the way you think: https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2020/07/14/supreme-courts-faithless-electors-decision-validates-case-for-the-national-popular-vote-interstate-compact/ " Given the amount of publicity received by the grandstanding faithless electors in 2016, each political party can be expected to be extremely careful in 2020 about vetting the people they nominate for the position of presidential elector. If the political parties do their job carefully and well, faithless electors cannot have any effect on the outcome of a presidential election—under either the current system or the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. 2020 Election Thoughts
"We have claimed, for Electoral Vote purposes, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (which won’t allow legal observers) the State of Georgia, and the State of North Carolina" While this sounds funny, I don't put anything past these people anymore. Republicans pretending like they'd check him is absolutely comical.

Trump is nearing levels of absurdity that things could be very dangerous out there. Be safe out there guys. This guy wants nothing more than to cause violence.
