  1. I like catellanos bat to grow, but I'm not giving 80 million to a DH whose never had a wRC over 121.
  2. Not saying this is likely, or what's happening, but it would almost make more sense for the Sox to wait out this season and see Moncada duplicate last year and then just throw huge money at him that is similar to a FA extension.
  3. Yeah, and it's not like the question posed to him had anything to do with his tenure on the White Sox.
  4. Ok. As I said hes a 2.5+ WAR player with a wRC+ of 90. The more tools the less risky a prospect. Calling a guy the most risky prospect when he impacts the game in 5 ways just isnt a valid concern imo. Robert is safer than say Eloy who relies on 2 tools to carry his card.
  5. There is a difference between a player saying I love it here and would like to stay... and a player saying I love the organization and would like to be apart of it for life. I appreciated what they did for my friend and I'd like to do the same thing as him. I agree that actions speak louder than words but when asked how he felt about the white sox taking care of abreu, he didn't have to answer that he loved it and would like to do the same. He could have merely supported abreu but instead commented in the impact it had on his desires to remain with the organization.
  6. The fact that hes willing to have these discussions at all make me believe it's very possible.
  7. Don't want to sell this point too much, but Moncada is the only guy who has publicly said he'd like to sign on and stay with the organization for his entire career.
  8. Not sure I agree with this. He's a + defender and + base runner. Right now, with a projected wRC+ of 112 (12% better than the league) Robert projects out next year to be a 3 WAR player in 150 games. If he hit below league average and his defense is as good as advertised he's a 3 WAR player as a below average hitter in the big leagues. That's the safest floor of any of their prospects. The more tools, the safer the prospect.
  9. With this being even reported, I feel pretty good about it happening. 8 years, 90 million should be nice enough to get it done. Huge investment in a guy whose never played in the big leagues, but talk about an upside. If Robert is really good, he's worth 60+ million in arb so they're buying out 2 years at 15 million a piece to buy out the arb years. Seems fair.
  10. This has been a process over the past 4-5 years. It's been slower than some other teams, but they have certainly begun to buy in and implement this organizationally.
  11. Well no, I'm selecting the most recent time frame because it's much more valuable for project-ability than 2014. Wheeler has been much more healthy recently, and he's 3 years younger.
  12. Seems to me the White Sox are buying into a lot of things people implied they weren't.
  13. In the past two seasons, Ryu has thrown 264 innings. In the past two seasons, Wheeler has thrown 377 innings.
  14. If Collins isn't going to get consistent big league at bats he shouldn't be here. I don't think it helps his development to give him 30 games of PT and 180 AB's. EE could also fall off; as I said, I get that it's risky but it's a risk I'd be willing to take. The offense has a lot of talent, they should be able to protect Collins within it.
  15. I was absolutely shocked to read that Moncada lives in Cuba in the off-season. I had no idea that was possible,
  16. Feel for the defense; they're going to be top 3 in scoring defense despite an offense that never ever helps.
  17. I have no idea what the Angels are doing. They just spent 250 million on 3rd base and completely neglected the teams actual needs; SP. I guess they feel confident with Heaney (always hurt), Ohtani (coming off surgery) Teheran (bad) and Bundy (bad).
  18. We all really have no idea what Robert or Moncada's desires are. If Moncada truly wants to stay on the South Side - as he said he did for the duration of his career - he may sign an extension that pays him well but isn't necessarily the top top dollar he could demand.
  19. There is absolutely zero benefit to sending Collins back to AAA. If the White Sox plan on sending him back down they might as well trade the guy. He'll be 25 years old coming off a season in AAA with a wRC+ of 140. There's no benefit in a guy going back to a level he's completely dominated.
  20. Why would hte Sox give up Madrigal, Stiever and Collins for 2 years of Corey Seager? Seager just had a worse year than Anderson.
  21. I absolutely understand why they'd sign Edwin, but I'd love to give 130 games to Collins personally. It's risky though.
  22. Think people think that's 160 innings combined over the final 2 years. Which it could be.
  23. Gotta wonder wtf the Angels are doing. They have no starters and they gave rendon 250 million instead of paying a single pitcher. Angels and twins fans are pissed.
