  1. Ive gone from hating his hire, to being okay with it, back to questioning it. I pay more attention to meaningless emails I send than the White Sox general manager pays to major acquisitions and that is a large problem.
  2. Sure. But if you are a general manager of a major league baseball team, and you trade your biggest asset(kinda) for someone, I would assume at the bare minimum you watch them hit at least......once? How often do you hear a player traded say "its an honor someone would want to trade for me." Now Acuna hears well the general manager didnt even bother to learn my game. Is it the biggest deal in the world? No. Is it alarming? Yeah it kinda is. Shows you he has absolutely no fear of losing his job either.
  3. When he said it at Soxfest I second guessed myself......because......ya know, he would know
  4. Its a great time. Get there early in the morning and wander around the complex for their early workouts. Very relaxed and casual. Have some coffee enjoy the sun. Hit a game or two, mix up some different parks. Lot of great restaurants in Glendale. Definitely worth an extended weekend in my opinion. We do it every couple years.
  5. I dont know enough about Hicks or Sandlin to render a useful opinion but Red Sox fans seem to be dancing in the streets to be rid of Hicks.
  6. Just got back. Good vibes and definitely a less hostile attitude this year. Sold out for tonight at least. Some fun stuff with the younger guys on stage. Good to have Bo there. Getz chatted with Venable and Garfien and that was fine. That said, man do they need a new venue. I appreciate the desire to do something in the neighborhood, but that space is just very restricting. No seating provided tonight. Which speaking with other parents with kids was real rough. If kids were there it was tough for them to see anything. Older folks had a rough time too. We showed up early to get seats so my little guy had a decent view and notta. Also zero food options. No dogs and pizza like last year. The bar had one or two things but basically unless you bought the mvp package your options were very limited. Just such a far cry from the family friendly affair it used to be. Either way nice to get a dose of White Sox in the winter.
  7. The alumni hr derby is becoming a nice promo across the league. The idea of taking my kid to see Frank Thomas hit, or try to, is pretty cool.
  8. For whatever its worth mlb network this morning seems to believe White Sox won this trade.
  9. I agree this was a terrible trade but a lot of people are overlooking the possibility that Acuna outplays Robert this year. That alone should help folks understand why the trade happened. Pure salary dump with a talented, underperforming, unpredictable player. Let's just move on...
  10. I remember this too. It was connected to the gift shop behind home plate but for a while was its own separate entity. I remember have to pay like a dollar to get in in the first few years the park. Always thought it was cool. Guess unsurprisingly additional retail space won out. Rip Wilbur. If anyone would...
  11. I never said anything about not upholding ones standards. I just noted, accurately, we all root for people we disagree with politically because frankly, we don't know where everyone stands. I find it absurd to root against someone because you disagree with their politics but to each their own.
  12. Ive got bad news for you my friend, you already root for, and have rooted for people like Matt Shaw.
  13. I seem to recall him having the full support of his team and the organization.
  14. You just hit the nail on the head for a lot of people tired of perpetual rebuilding.
  15. No I don't think they've handled Taylor appropriately thus far. I dont know where it stated i did. Nor did my post you referenced say anything about the decision to possibly use Hagen in the pen. I think that decision is unique to each player. And im not privy enough to his development to make a completely accurate decision but I've never been a fan of taking a starter, making them a relief pitcher, then a starter again. Does it work sometimes? Sure but I feel like it could throw an unnecessary wrench in development as well.
  16. I think theres something to this. People discount or fail to pay attention to the psychological aspect of these kids at this point in their career. If they feel they stall, where they should be continuing to advance, it 100 percent has a role in their development. I think this was certainly the case with Colson. Everyone is so obsessed with numbers and peripherals that the head is ignored. I think with the talent of these two specifically they could just come up and take right off.
  17. Hard no. The path to a competent 2026 team could very well have either Schultz or Hagen having a breakout season. Which I think is very possible.
  18. Yes. People shittalked David Wells for being a fat slob here and still do. Also yes, people had problems with Lance Lynn as well. You're not helping your argument here.
  19. Lol stop. Vaughn got s%*# for his work ethic too. Underperforming players tend to endure more of a critical eye deservedly or not.
  20. Keep him at this point. Maybe he has a 2023 type season and we get 3 hitters who pop 30 hrs in our lineup. Have a little fun and if someone gets desperate trade him. Or don't and we lose him for nothing which at this point doesn't move the needle for me either way. But trading him for next to nothing and eating money sounds very unappealing.
