  1. I agree. You need some higher commitment level contracts and for sure you need to do good on bargain shopping as well. The strategy of trying to hit on all the bargain shopping has utterly failed. Just think of the guys that “the money will be spent” went to. Harper smokes all their value. It doesn’t mean you should run out and sign a $300 million pitcher, but you should at least be in true play on the top end position players. J.R. won’t try at those. That isn’t the fans fault, that is his fault and his anti-players union pride.
  2. But you can still take issue on the restricted allocation of resources. Yes he allowed their payroll to get in the upper end, BUT he made them do so by bargain shopping. Think of it this way. There is a budget for $1,000 household items and you have to go to stores to get all your items. Instead of going to one store to get your important pieces, like buying a Fridge at Menards, and then the dollar store for the fridge magnets, J.R. made it be so that they bought everything at the dollar store.
  3. What is even worse is, the Sox and A’s haven’t done a $100 million contract, but look at this list: Team’s that haven’t given a $150 million -White Sox -A’s -Guardians ($124 million) -Cardinals ($130 million) -Pirates ($106 million) This is even worse. Team’s that have not given out a $200 million: -White Sox -A’s -Guardians ($124 million) -Cardinals ($130 million) -Pirates ($106 million) -Blue Jays ($150 million) -Orioles ($161 million) -Ray’s ($182 million) -Astros ($151 million) -Brewers ($188 million) -Cubs ($184 million) The competitive bar has by far moved past $100 million contracts. The competitive bar is now $200 million contracts. And the Sox record contract is 37.5% of the competitive bar.
  4. The fact that they have a 700 million contract and the sox haven’e even been close to 100.
  5. I was perusing the Athletic’s top 40 Free Agents and their predictions for contracts and lists of teams that would be best fit for each one. First of all, they didn’t match ONE with the White Sox. Everyone knows that we are not a serious organization. Even a beginning of the off-season piece. Secondly, Lucas Giolito is the 13th best free agent? There is zero hope for 2024. It is nice expectations are clearly set. https://theathletic.com/5008102/2023/10/31/mlb-free-agents-2023-contract-team-predictions/?source=user_shared_article
  6. In the Athletic article there is rumblings about her joining the White Sox. “It remains to be seen if other organizations will make front office moves or if Ng would be considered for a president role, with some rumblings in the industry that perhaps the Chicago White Sox — with whom Ng served as an assistant director of baseball operations from 1990-96 — would be interested in her overseeing newly promoted general manager Chris Getz.” — Tyler Kepner and Ken Rosenthal contributed to this report.
  7. Yes. This makes it worse…no? Better question is what is the payroll per loss breakdown. Ha!
  8. In a historic year of terrible play, we are being outdone. We can only get to 22.
  9. Conspiracy theory: Sox announce the hire of Ozzie today, on a Wednesday while pubbing it as the 17th anniversary from 05’s victory.
  10. Question: I know there is a lottery for the draft now, but does that set the first round and all the rest? Or is the first set by lottery and the rest is by record? Bonus question: Is the draft money available also determined by the lottery?
  11. As someone who played a 2nd role similar to that, I will say this is utterly false. I had a complete different leadership style than the first in command, and when he was around what i could do and couldn't do as far as leadership style was night and day different.
  12. Cairo getting out there fast and in the middle could have saved injuries/suspensions. Big deal he took the focus instead of a player.
  13. Seriously give Colas a couple weeks and let his wrist heal.
  14. 😂Hahn was obviously playing long ball on the Tatis trade. He must have known about the roids.
