  1. In my opinion the WS have not stood pat. Opening day has Grandal & Mazara and a few weeks later Robert, Madrigal and at ASB or sooner Dunning, Kopech and Rodon perhaps. If no other changes occurred I think we would be looking at roughly 84 or so wins. Two #3-5 starters and two good not great relievers push that number of wins to 90. I admit this isn't the sexy offseason we all hoped for but we're in pretty good shape even without landing a whale.
  2. Makes me mad if RH didn't hang up the phone.
  3. This doesn't sound like you Orlando. Please...don't go over to the dark side.
  4. Price is being paid 32 M for the next 3 years. If RH & KW think his actual value is 16 M per year...Boston needs to ship 48 M in either $ or players. Doesn't seem all that hard to find a way. Actually both sides should be motivated. Sale on the other hand has a brand new extension. I presume that extension has some type of no trade clause. That probably would hinder him coming in this direction.
  5. Not at all necessary. This is about us getting pitching and Boston shedding high cost of pitching. Take away half the dollars the Price & Sale are using up...done deal.
  6. That might be an overpay. Boston wants salary relief more than players coming back. Need some minor league name or two but mostly want so send as little money as possible along with price.
  7. I would feel safer if Fulmer & Fry weren't in the bullpen so as not to temp Ricky to use them.
  8. Moncada & Robert are both 5 tool players and Timmy is just short of that. When is the last time the Sox had 3 players like that in the same lineup.
  9. Price & Benintendi + 26 M for Fulmer & Fry...done deal.
  10. I'm not knocking Snell as much as voicing my displeasure with getting rid of Madrigal who I see as integral to the next 10 + years of WS baseball.
  11. Deflecting all the b****ing about Mazara.
  12. I don't think we have the pieces. We are in the strange position of having very good top 50 guys like you mention and very thin after that. Guys like Walker was are not much to bait the hook with and Kopech, Madrigal, Robert and Vaugh types are more valuable to us and our needs. Madrigal & Vaughn plus would be similar to the fleecing we gave the Cubs for Q. Our best trade affordable trade chips are probably McCann, Fry, Fuller and Rodon... maybe Colome. I would part with Vaugh + a couple of names I mentioned. That wouldn't be enough to get it done IMO.
  13. Wouldn't take two meetings to say no to that.
  14. I have said repeatedly that I expected the WS to be open to spending $160 and still think that. I don't expect them to pass up a bargain like Mazara in order to spend money. We still have four high quality pitchers to acquire at a minimum. We will see what the final number turns out to be.
  15. I'm fine with the trade as I've had a chance to familiarize myself with Mazara. He came from out of the blue and took us all by surprise but he has a good chance to fit really nicely. We are appreciably stronger in Center, RF, 2nd, DH and Catcher. 2020 WS are going to flourish or fail bases on building up the pitching staff.
  16. Grow or trade for the stars while using free agency to plug your holes. Now we need to fine two competent starters and two reliable pen pieces.
  17. The move looks to be OK but everyone is bummed that the signing isn't a name player. He might prove to be a real sleeper.
  18. Biting the hand that feeds you never looks attractive.
  19. I didn't get on the internet all day between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm. Very proud of myself to have such restraint. Log on ready to devour details of the one or two deals sure to have happened. Wow...tomorrow is really going to be a busy day.?
