  1. In the example we were discussing... that's Price.
  2. With all the heat surrounding the WS...I would think 2 deals by Thursday is a lead pipe cinch.
  3. There are exceptions to everything but Madrigal is 99% untouchable.
  4. It could be Fuller instead of Vaughn. You can't fill in the prospect until we would see the financial aspects of the deal. I am not recommending we trade Vaughn. I have posted my opposition to trading for Betts and his one year of control. Somehow if Boston wants to get rid of their high priced pitcher and Betts their are ways to make it happen. For the record...I'm against trading any of our top tier prospects but I acknowledge their are deals that could change my mind I guess.
  5. No resting against this lineup. Opposing pitcher can be on cruise control then the roof caves in.
  6. Agreed. Just saying that some form of salary relief for Price & Betts might justify a Vaughn type return. Depends how much money comes with them.
  7. Thor was 10-8 with era of 4.30 in the NL. Good but not unworldly. Did start 31 games which I like. I would like him OK but wouldn't consider Madrigal or Vaughn in the return package.
  8. With Price the issue would be salary relief not requiring Vaughn type value. I do think a deal for Price has potential. He's still good...just not 31million per year good. Now if the deal is Price and Betts like some suggest then Vaughn might be going. It would take something wild to entice RH off of Vaughn IMO.
  9. I don't buy the Ozuna to DH stuff. Costilano is the better hitter with a worse glove.
  10. Like you...my first choice would have been Joc Pederson. Irrationally I don't want to give up anything to get him. I value defense more than some I guess. A noodle arm in RF scares me. All that said...I too am warming to the concept of Ozuna. Our lineup with Ozuna looks menacing.
  11. Yes...but we are not done yet.
  12. Apparently Eaton and Garcia will be getting lots of late inning playing time.
  13. No reason to be out on him if wheeler was worth 125. Probably wouldn't be enough but might not hurt to try. Limited # of teams with the cash...we're one of them.
  14. I've been thinking Strasburg isn't as far fetched as I once thought. When KW and RH get mad about the Wheeler disappointment ...liable to go all in on a big one. Six years at 30 per might get it done.
  15. If we are looking for a one year solution...Hunter Pence might fit the bill. A useful guy with lots of post season experience.
  16. I'm starting to believe that if Avi didn't have a history with us...we would all be calling for him as a cost effective alternative. I am also wondering if Brett Gardner might end up as available. He would be a great one year solution.
  17. Keuchel helps by putting a competent #4-5 on the mound until Kopech, Rodon and Dunning are back at full strength. Gio, Kopech, Cease, Lopez & Dunning all have the ability to be very good pitchers. Need someone like Keuchel and Ryu to weather the storm until everyone is back at full strength.
  18. I think the odds of getting Ryu and/or Keuchel are quite good. We have both the money and the need. Their appeal for me comes in the fact that 3 year deals are possible.
  19. Kole Calhoun is starting to feel like the easy way to greatly improve the position while not spending foolish money or giving up worthwhile prospects. I still prefer Pederson but only if the asking price is modest.
  20. We've lost exactly 1 targeted free agent and we were the high bidder. I don't think this qualifies as a trend.
  21. Castellanos and Ozuna both bat right handed. Castellanos can't catch the ball and Ozuna is recovering from shoulder injury. My guess would be Pederson.
  22. Ryu and Keuchel each offered 3 years at 15 million would work for me at this point. Some risk but a fair degree of possible upside as well. Way better gamble than Bum at 100.
