McCann makes our catching unit elite. Both Grandal and McCann wore down by years end in 2019.

I expect an extension for Madrigal before opening day. These extensions have worked well for RH and are an important part of long term success.

I saw a lot of Hunter Pence when he was with the AA Hooks in Corpus Christi. He was a fun player to watch and he was advanced in his baseball IQ even then. Pence would make a nice 26th man to be around all these young guys.

I also like what Yolmer brings to the WS. As I've said in earlier posts...Yolmer might be back for around 4 million once he finds out that 6 million isn't going to happen.

This was a good way to compromise and get the deal done.

Look at that lineup. Envision what the pitching staff will look like after adding Ryu/Keuchel/Price and a top reliever or 2 this offseason. This is not a .500ish team. It has an excellent chance to win the division. Depending on how fast Madrigal & Robert acclimate to the ML game...might actually compete deep into playoffs.

Man this lineup is going to be fun to watch. Fearsome!

I bet Grandal thinks Ryu is a great pitcher if he could stay healthy. Pretty much what every person in baseball thinks. I hope we take our best shot with him...if we win that gamble he's a terrific pickup.

No I don't want to pay Price 18 million per year for 3 years. I don't want to pay Keuchel or Ryu for 4 years. Looks like we are going to need to pick someone who is a bit of a gamble.

Don't count out Lopez. He shows his stuff frequently. Control is the unknown for all of them and I love having Grandal & McCann working with them.

Boston should expect to send roughly 42 million in cash...and expect zero by way of players in return.

I think I'll take the over on Eloy. He's going to be a monster. The whole lineup offers protection for each other.

The more I have read up on Mazara the more I'm liking that signing. Might me the sneaky move of the offseason.

With Keuchel's experience last year...a bird in hand should have some appeal.

A strong BP can carry us a long way. Betances and Harris would be great additions. With our lineup we won't be out of many games.

I still believe Keuchel is our primary target and will eventually sign with us in the neighborhood of 3 years for 55 million. Boras will not hold out till the edge of the cliff again.

Price will not cost any trade chips much less a good one. He is strictly a money deal.

Price is probably worth 45 million for us. His contract has 92 million remaining. So if this is for Price alone...give us Price + 47 million. We give Boston payroll relief plus our best wishes. Betts or Benintendi have some value but that value is something like Fulmer & 10 million.
