I agree with you. Seby has certainly picked up a few fans of his own. He is the best defensive catcher in the organization IMO.

My player of the game is Lopez. Pitched like he wasn't afraid and with a decent pace. He could help a lot in the early inning relief appearances.

I've seen more than enough of Goodwin. He is in no position to be dogging it.

I liked what I saw with the bat...especially that he knows how to bunt. He didn't have many chances to show off defensively other than he covered 1st base nicely on that Cleveland bunt. Want to see him turn the DP and cover some grounders before I can say I like him. Overall I thought he looked very good.

Mendick seems like a nice guy but he's no Madrigal.

Robert is our next big move. Not long now. Can't wait.

That must play into it as does RH wanting to win now. I will miss Nick but it was the right thing to do IMO.

Several weeks ago I and others opined the need for two relief pitchers (one of them being the late-inning type) and a second baseman. We got about the best available of what we asked for.

Cesar showed us he knows how to bunt. Situational bunting is fine with me if the person doing it knows how.

Rough first outing for Tepera. Rather see him in situations with a little breathing room until he gets comfortable with his new team. Ruiz being forced into action and dominating might do a world of good for his confidence though. All is forgiven when we win.

I think Nick will be at the top of the Cubs lineup for the next 10 years or more. As the saying goes...you need to give something to get something.

Very good likelihood of that happening.

Cleveland is also trying to help.

No one is crying about Heuer today. He was our next closer in some minds just a few months ago. Relievers are just unpredictable for the most part. I love the idea of two horses for the closer role.

Funny how Bummer has become our weakest link in the late innings relief role. Not long ago he was untradeable IMO.

A mixture of emotions today. Obviously sad to say goodbye to Nicky. I now have a reason to watch an occasional Cubs game. I know Nick realizes this was an all-in move to lock up a couple of WS championships for the Sox and the right move under the circumstances. Let's face it...with our pitching and everyday lineup...we look awfully tough to beat. Wishing good things for Nicky and I still hope he gets that 3000 hits.

Yeah....working on that. Giving it careful consideration.
