  1. In that case you should have no problem with it, because home plate umpires are gods, not humans.
  2. A pacemaker can take you from listless to normal like magic. Ask someone who had one done. But some of this stuff sounds like it's also a perfect excuse for what needs to be done, and Tony's in on it. Either way, we're in a big, big hole on the loss side and Cleveland has its momentum back.
  3. Hope I'm wrong, but as soon as Clase sees our guys, it fixes all his ills. Huge blowup tonight.
  4. Also noted that Hendriks threw only one fastball, used it as a shoulder high bait pitch for strike three. But somehow our guys got two in the 8th under the same conditions. Need Cease to eat innings tomorrow. Kopech wore out the bullpen today.
  5. Add high outside fastballs to that. He has plenty of company on both.
  6. Simple approach to JR: You're spending too much on the wrong things because we can't identify talent and develop it so we have to go out and try to buy it. Like the current bullpen. So be prepared to spend more but find a FO that knows how to spend it more wisely. The current one has failed at that.
  7. At least he wasn't hit hard tonight. Still scares me worse than Colome did, but does it faster. Just about a month ago he faced four batters, all of whom hit the ball hard and walked off with a save, despite two wild pitches.
  8. Offense was what you'd expect after a 13 run outburst the day before. A Law Of Nature. The Good Gio showed up. Although this is a different Gio than his short-lived glory days of a few years ago.
  9. You and I are conditioned to look for conspiracies and this certainly smells like one, but I still give it only a 10% chance of being true. But that's still a chance.
  10. I'm thinking of a flashing cursor, or was it a cursing flasher. Feeling sorry for the fan who was picked to win a new Nissan Rogue on the pre-game lead-in on AM 1000 if the Sox pulled off a no hitter.
  11. Huge dominating win and we're all weepy afterwards. This game, the best game, messes with you, doesn't it? Dammit, that slider needed to be a foot lower.
  12. Warm evening, big crowd, three run homers, a few cold ones. I love this game. Oh yes, and Cease.
  13. His stuff hums but he can't get people out. Don't ask me, I'm only a poster here. Big surprise of the game: Grandal gunned down a really fast runner, or Jose didn't strike out with the bases loaded? Either way, we're all excited about a few wins, ugly as they may have been, and you can include me in that.
  14. Right on target. Who then should we ask? How 'bout an ex-player. Keuchel? McGuire?
  15. As long as you mentioned it, he's given up runs in his last three outings, one of which was a non save situation. Naturally, Stoney blamed that time on the fact that it was a non save situation. What about the other two times, Steve? Maybe Liam just isn't that good right about now. Stone has the curse of a mathematical mind. Get an idea and stick to it in the face of facts to the contrary. Otherwise, nice win, good defense, timely hitting, the long ball and a solid start. To sum it all up, who cares.
  16. I hope you're not leaving Grandal out of the passed balls discussion. He can hold his own in that category.
  17. Yep, his numbers lie. Sixty RBI with three guys who are frequently on base hitting ahead of him. Not good. Lotta seeing eye ground ball singles in there too.
  18. Target on his back or not, deservedly or not, he hired Tony while still paying Ricky. Tony's had his own target around here since Day One for reasons we can't discuss. Keep it real.
  19. 20,000 in the stands for crucial games should be a hint. Just my .02 but if McDonough had anything to do with the Hawks winning anything it was a coincidence.
  20. Did someone say that they were aspiring to mediocrity rather than putting up with it until a better alternative existed?
  21. Vince looked like he belonged last night. Just saying. Stuff was hopping. Mediocrity ain't bad sometimes, in comparison to just plain awful.
  22. They already had Jim Paxson and Clyde Drexler at SG. Who needs a third shooting guard? ?
