  1. The last time the Sox were over .500 was on May 25 when they were 22-21. The last time they were two games over .500 was on April 20 when they were 6-4.
  2. Lose one Keuchel and in steps another.
  3. I think he understands the risk, but also knows what he wants. Good for him.
  4. Knowingly playing the two most important games to date shorthanded by two players is the urgency I’ve come to know and love with this team.
  5. They really need to sustain some sort of success. They’ve looked great these first two games with convincing(!) wins, but it’s still too easy to envision them completely falling on their faces these next two.
  6. I feel like there are two grades to give out, because the decision for a contender to sign Velasquez as the only SP depth add is an F. But I agree that he’s been more or less what was expected. It’s just that the expectations very low to begin with. I don’t recall most disliking this signing. I thought many saw it as a no brainer to help fill Lynn’s innings. But yeah, A+++
  7. I agree he’s an injury risk regardless, but it’s not a binary thing. The degree of risk is less if the MRI shows nothing, rather than nothing drastic. Plus, him playing banged up can affect his performance (or already has been) to the point that other players on the roster are just better options. It’s a sad state. Dude’s become such a huge question mark.
  8. Well, yeah, but that sure feels like a big if. "Reasonable" and "nothing drastic" paired with Eloy's series of setbacks doesn't exactly make me want to hurry him back in there, especially right before the break.
  9. Don't you dare.
  10. I like to think that the standard for minor league living conditions can and should improve over time. Is that pampering?
  11. I would take Ozzie over TLR. But I would take my dog over Ozzie.
  12. Glad we can provide the blueprint for what not to do.
  13. Nah. They’re even bad at being bad, so they’ll probably win like 6-3 to prolong the “there’s still time” talk.

So when do the nonsense comments about how the Twins had a bad 21 and bounced back the next year begin? You know, a variation on the 21 Braves comparison, which has thankfully died down. The dysfunction of this organization is so profound that these comparisons just end up being apples to dumpsters.
  15. Kind of amazing that we’re only halfway through the season. There’s still so much bad left to experience!
  16. Amazing sentence without context.
  17. I have no problem with Blackburn making the team because A’s and I don’t mind the every team represents thing. Nestor? Nice enough story, but come the fuck on.
  18. No because Leury will have a couple good foul tips earlier in the game that warrant him staying in
  19. And then the season starts the next day. But for real this time.* *Until the next time.
  20. The players deserve plenty of the blame for this debacle, but I’d like to see them under a competent manager and coaching staff. And, as others have said, a better supporting cast. With those things, I’m inclined to believe in them. Continuing as is, I do not.
  21. I propose starting the all star break now and having it run through, say, Oct 5.
  22. Yeah, but he’s accountable to himself, and that’s all that really matters. Not making the same mind numbing, game losing mistakes over and over and over. He takes the heat, so all is well that ends well.
  23. Dear god, the smell of the game. That is some advanced observational analytics.
