A little tidbit to brighten your day amongst this gloom -
Since Aaron Rodgers can only beat the Bears and not anybody else in the NFC Championship Game, the Packers are now effectively eliminated from Super Bowl contention.
I would not trade either one just for the sake of trading them, but as I've noted before, the current roster has a major redundancy in the right-handed DH category with Abreu/Vaughn/Eloy. There has to be some serious exploration as to whether Vaughn or Eloy can be part of a package that bring back a big time 2B, OF, or SP.
Choosing 3rd and 12 over 4th and 2 with that amount of time left is 100% the right call. It's just that the defense is awful. Only 5 quality players on that side of the ball and 3 of them are injured. Firing Nagy won't help if Pace is allowed to pick his successor and be in charge for another offseason.
That wasn't really the point though. I've heard of Magic Johnson, and the Miracle on Ice, of course OJ, and other things that came before that. It was more noting that Seles probably doesn't rise to the level of other things mentioned because I've heard of them and not of her.
By "more than we thought" you mean more than enough to have rejected the Qualifying Offer and thus leaving this incompetent front office with one fewer draft pick than they should have had.
I don't hate Vaughn. He's an outstanding talent. It's not his fault that he was forced to play out of position. It's also not his fault that his skill set is incredibly similar to others on the team, most notably Eloy and Jose. That said, having Vaughn in the same lineup as Eloy and Jose is problematic. I'm not going to try and guess as to what's the best way out of that situation, but it's a reality that has to be dealt with somehow.
