  1. I still wouldn't stress about it. I'm sure he's thrilled to make the team and I doubt these guys are firing fastballs all week leading to the game.
  2. That's a neat story. Please write us a little recap of what the experience was like for both you and your niece. How old is she? I'd be interested in if the modern kid is thrilled upon walking in the park, more worried about the stuff you can do outside of your seat and the food or what. Let us know how much money you drop as well. You've got to immediately get her a hat, right?
  3. I wouldn't worry about that. Cal Ripken could have used the days off all those years and it didn't bother him. This puts pressure on the Sox to make Thornton the full time closer doesn't it? Baseball is proclaiming him more important/impressive than Jenks. Didn't they expand the rosters big-time a few years ago? Even with that Rios/Paulie get snubbed?
  4. You think Putz would not fail if he entered as many save situations as Bobby? People always want the unknown.
  5. Let's see Putz do it as a closer. My guess is some fans wouldn't be happy with any closer because none get saves every night. Two nights ago we abused Texas' ultra phenom. Jenks has been great this season; Putz as well. But let's see Putz close night in and night out. He'd blow saves just like Bobby has blown saves in the past and will blow saves again.
  6. Fine if you want to blame Ozzie for the roster, do so. And do so again and again and again. But he's got to play these guys that are on the roster. I said before the game the last 5 guys in the order wouldn't scare any pitcher. So what? That's the roster we have. You can nitpick all you want about who should pinch hit and when. Ozzie didn't do anythng that cost this s*** ass offensive team the game tonight. Jones is on the team. He's going to play some games. CQ apparently had a bum elbow. Blaming the manager is so funny after losses. The manager never gets credit for moves during a win, except the easy cop out, "Oz managed a great game tonight." Uh yeah, you win it's a well managed game; lose and a poorly managed game. I wish you guys could get your wish and get Ozzie fired. You'd all be so much happier until a loss when you could pinpoint 10 moves the new manager messed up on. For a while, though, you could still blame Ozzie for not wanting Thome and thus the new manager would have an Ozzie driven roster that can't hit.
  7. Have you ever watched a game we lost and not blamed the manager? That is all. You wanted CQ to pinch hit in the seventh inning as I recall didn't you? yeah we should pinch hit for everybody. Our lineup sucks. Is it that hard to fathom?? We lose. Ozzie sucks. On to the next game where maybe we win and Ozzie that day only sucks a little.
  8. Why I never wanted to run Jimmy Thome out of town. I liked him. It was obvious we needed him if we were gonna go with the moronic combo of Kotsay/Jones at DH.
  9. I wouldn't call it a tough luck loss. We are getting what we deserve so far with the punch and Judy hitters.
  10. It's like our hitters are 98 pound weaklings. It's the total opposite of steroid ball. It's like our guys are biddy ballers. No pop in the bats at all. We got rid of Randy Williams. Hopefully Jones will be next. Then somebody to relegate Kotsay to PH duties. Jimmy Thome, please come back. Please come back.
  11. Not saying it was you, but earlier people were absolutely AGAINST having Lexi bat second.
  12. I don't know about that. Many many games especially early on were deadly boring.
  13. Seriously why would any team give us a cheap single? Teams should play as shallow as they do when pitchers hit in the NL except for CQ and Paulie. It is a crime to let a White sox bloop a hit into left or center. I'd play shallow shallow shallow against the punchless Sox.
  14. We're like a Little League teams in terms of power. They should play so shallow for everybody but Paulie.
  15. I like Dayan a lot but if he continues to swing at everything he's destined to make a ton of outs in his career. You gotta be a bit selective or you are gonna get eaten alive in the big leagues.
  16. That's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Nobody is going to buy tickets to watch Jones hit some meaningless milestone. Jones sucks. They need to just realize the mistake of their ways and dump him. It's a miracle this team has the record it does. This offense blows and has blown all year.
  17. How many walks did Viciedo draw in the minor leagues? He is the definition of a free swinger.
  18. I thought he made it clear he would not be a DH anywhere.
  19. Jones is the worst player in baseball. It simply baffles me why Dye wouldn't agree to be a DH. He's rather sit on his ass doing nothing and counting his money instead of getting a mill a year DHing in the Big Leagues. Stupid of these rich big leaguers to have that much pride.
  20. I acknowledge that AJ is having a bad year at the plate. He was on the 05 team. I acknowledge Dye's defense was declining, but I'll never say he was a butcher out there during his Sox career. It took a while for those long legs to get moving at times and his last year he had a bad year. So what? I could go through the rest of the guys like Pods, Jenks, et. all, but I doubt anybody wants to go there. I never have said those 05 guys were perfect but I tend to stand up for them, especially in threads mocking Pods for striking out to end the game the other night when he also drove in two of KC's three runs, and people freaking out when Jenks lets a guy or two get on base but ultimately gets the save. He sucks in tie games; last night Texas' ace phenom player of the century also sucked in entering a tie game. Uh Putz walked the lead off guy last night as well and I wasn't freaking out.
  21. Jones rf Kotsay dh Pierzynski c Viciedo 3b Beckham 2b We should have a contest on how many hits these guys get tonight. Kotsay was the hero last night, and I credit him for that, but man, how is that guy a regular on a major league team? Should be interesting to see if Jones can hit against his own team. He has been pathetic for a long while now. I like Viciedo but of these five he's the only one who excites me entering this game.
  22. When I make a comment on some of my favorites from the past and arguments start, nobody on the other side every issues posts like this. You say this now, which is great and fine and nice of course. What normally happens is I stand up for these guys when somebody bags on them and then all hell breaks loose. By the way did anybody see D. Wise hit a bases loaded triple for the Blue Jays last night?
  23. Thanks. Some guy put me on ignore. You didn't. The world is round. There are differing opinions out there even on message boards.
  24. Great win. If the Sox cared about message board wackos they would give many of us the finger for doubting them most of the game in the game thread. Kotsay - yes, way to get a big hit after a lot of s***ty outs. You da man tonight. Have a beer. Freddy - Wow. What a great No. 5 starter. Some of those slow pitches, I can't believe they get people out, but they do. Rios - So consistent. Tough luck on that liner to center. Thornton - Heat. Putz - Nice. Way to bounce back after the walk and ball one to the second batter for five balls in a row. Pierre - Three hits is always good. No. 4 would have been special. Wasn't to be. Beckham - Hits are always good. Alexei - 3 hits? Finding the holes on the grounders between third and short ... me likes them. CQ - Four outs, but got hit by the pitch. Good win.
  25. Pierre did make the big out, but he had 3 hits and hustled as usual. Kotsay sucked much of the night, but drills the big hit off Feliz. Alexei finding the holes and gets on base on the dribbler. Great job by No. 5 starter Freddy and excellent relief. Nice win though frustrating to some of us us non believers through six innings at least.
