  1. As expected, the All-Star break took all momentum away from this team. So dull.
  2. Hope Sheets made good use of his 2 mill signing bonus as a second rounder. Looks like he's another guy not going to make it, at least with the Sox. Kind of sad. He looks so good in a uniform.
  3. Anybody who knows baseball knows this is not a good baseball team. Anybody who knows baseball knows the Sox division is very weak. And finally anybody who knows baseball knows anything can happen. But your last sentence is 100 percent true.
  4. Something is wrong with MLB. I will whine on and on, but it's just not entertaining. Could it return to the game I enjoyed? I doubt it. Pitchers apparently have morphed into physical beings incapable of pitching more than 5 2/3 and I used to very much enjoy a well orchestrated complete game or 8 inning masterpiece with ONE reliever mopping up. today's game is incapable of giving me that I guess cause of evolution of the arm (incapable of going deep in games). Also the shift is not annoying, it's laughable. ... As long as lefty hitters refuse to bunt when there's one guy standing on shortstop as the only guy capable of throwing out the hitter, I'll laugh my ass off rather than be entertained by his hitting a bullet to the right side for the easy out. ... No more stolen bases ... no more triples ... just strikeouts and walks and HRs (this year a bit diffrent cause of the dead ball). Baseball is horrendously dull. It makes no sense that I'm still watching. Whiners are not enjoyable to be around and I am a whiner about the pastime.
  5. I've checked out mentally. I won't feel like an ingrate if the Sox 'somehow' get their act together and win. I still try to watch on mlb.com when I can but the fact Robert has been out again (sadly Eloy's next injury is about due) and the injuries keep happening coupled with very very boring games made me realize a while back this team blows. Baseball is a funny game (credit to Uecker) and that is the 'only' reason I consider a playoff spot possible. But believe me I've checked out. Sox are mediocre at best and a very very lousy baseball team. Not sure what's worst, the makeup of the roster or the way the guys hit and pitch. It doesn't take a smart baseball mind to see the team is built to lose. Prove me and others wrong, White Sox. We are fans and deserve to change our minds if you show some life. Up to now most people would say we are not out of line for hating on this wretched team.
  6. Yeah I keep forgetting the job of football coach pays almost nothing. I wasn't aware he had a business. Man, that would be draining to run some business then head over to the high school for practice, monitor weights, then the games on Friday. Long days and nights I'd assume. He did a nice job IMO. Rice had good teams almost every year. I hope we don't turn into St. Laurence football. Just OK every once in a while.
  7. What brought that on? Stupid cause they buy tickets? I might agree with that, but Sox fans are oh very smart, not stupid.
  8. I wonder if Tony could take a month off to rest. Just see if Ozzie can do any better with this injured, wretched team. Then let Tony come back in a month after he's rested up.
  9. Sox are being back to laughably bad. Glad those fans donated some hard earned dollars to the organization tonight. Cha ching. Fireworks will be fun tho.
  10. Konerko is right. Sox fans are good. I do think booing is a dumb activity for a fan though. After what he did in 05, it takes a really ungrateful fan IMO to boo the same guy in 08 who gave so many people so much joy in 05. My gosh I can't imagine how much beer you'd have to drink in the park to boo a man who provided so much joy in 05. Yet I guess it happened. Sad.
  11. I saw Tepera pitch today. He's got nothing left. Low velocity Meatballs.
  12. "Your White Sox: Mediocre at Best."
  13. Maybe going over .500 is what the doctor ordered for the White Sox. As much flak as TLR and the team takes, it's one hot streak away from being a normal contender, say 6-7 over .500. Can u imagine if the Sox actually got hot and got that record getting to where it should be?
  14. 8-11 or 11-8. Could go either way. Don't think this unit is capable of better than 11-8 in any 19-game stretch.
  15. It's pretty apparent (to me) how this is gonna play out. Eloy is gonna get hurt again and be out again. ... That said, if this is the manager's call (which I can guarantee it isn't) that would show what a joke this organization is. Obviously the doctors/trainers/GM and maybe even Eloy himself are making the decision. Tony may have some input but if managers are making the call on playing guys with injuries the Sox might as well give up. Teams have doctors and head trainers. Yeah I would guess Tony could demand he only DH. That might be the manager's call. But again, probably not. He is gonna get hurt again. Probably one of the retweak out two week deals?
  16. Some real baseball highlights. Three lift and pulls for three good guy HRs at The Cell. Love watching all three replays. All 3 guys lifted and pulled beautifully. Hitting coach mite wanna stress that if he wants to keep his job next year. Sox have to hit HRs at home this year if they hope to win anything. Good starting pitching. Eloy is such a likeable prospect but can he somehow stay healthy? Nice win. Sox continue as a .500 team. Which means more often than not the team w high expectations blows.
  17. Do you want your kids sitting there and teach the lesson that, 'Son or Daughter, even though our team has been thoroughly decimated by injuries this season so far and even though we're short on talent in all the key areas (defense, pitching, relief pitching, hitting) we're going to chant to get rid of the manager?' Why does Tony win the chant game over Hahn. Or Harrison early this season when he was so bad or any of several relievers? I don't think it's positive for kids to be subject to home team fans booing their own team. It's not the main reason I think it's classless but why bring in the negativity to an outing with the family? As far as Tony's crime, I woulda been OK with Sox firing him when he got that DUI. It shoulda happened frankly. Again, Sox upper management should be booed or chanted against that decision. Just my feelings.
  18. I thoroughly disagree with this. I didn't read the thread or see this game but if they were chanting "Fire Tony" during the game that indeed IMO is total lack of class. What I think is 'reasonable' is after the final out, go ahead and boo if the Sox lose and you are so inclined to blame somebody. Or even boo and then chant "Fire tony" or "Bring Back Ozzie" or something to one's heart's content. this is just my opinion that it is stupid and counterproductive to chant "Fire Tony" during a game. It sets all kinds of bad examples for young kid fans, too, if we still care about kids in 2022. I am a fan of non booing and holding back on the negative chants. Anybody with me?
  19. I'm sure there are some fans on here who would not be thrilled with Francona or Dusty or even Bochy.
  20. Lot of mean posts tonight about TLR. Cmon, any criticism of his bullpen management has to go back to whoever put this team together. Most of those relievers STINK. I bet there's a reason LL got hooked at 80 pitches.
  21. Don't you think LL is probably on some kind of pitch limit at this juncture?
  22. Cmon. Who is a good manager? Seriously? Name 2-3 "good" managers. RR was as good as most of the big league managers. Didn't even the wizard, the genius, Joe Maddon, get fired this year? ... Francona has always seemed decent but I bet he has his detractors. Dusty is pretty good I guess. I'd think he has detractors as well.
  23. That's what the Sox get for firing a guy after getting them in the playoffs. That's pretty dumb. It's actually unfair (even tho at the time I didn't like his moves in that playoff exit series). But still, to axe a guy after a playoff season is pretty bush league and u deserve what u get with the successor.
  24. Not a surprise. Team was kind of hot before the break but you just knew the multi days off would take away that momentum. This as we all know is a severely flawed team. On to the next game.
