7/11: Sox @ Twinkles: 6:10 CT, WGN
Why is it unnecessary? It's exciting. How many times did he use it tonight? I heard it at the end of game.

I hope Gordon improves his D. He's a good hitter.

14 hits almost weren't enough. But they were enough. We win.

If we somehow lose tonight, we should just forfeit all games in the dome.

Time to shop some relievers
Anybody notice Dotel has sucked on the road lately? Last night he got the loss. At KC, at Cleveland, and two games at Cincy, all outings he gave up runs, multi hits in all but one of the games. His overall road numbers aren't good with 11 walks and 17 hits in 16 innings with 17 strikouts and an 0-3 record. Must be nice when you can make 6 mill a year and be a set up man. If he was doing that as a closer, he'd be crucified in the media and by fans. Now he's still considered good.

Do the Twins really own us in their park...? Myth?
It's such an obvious angle the reporters have to bring it up and the players have to respond to it. The media has to go after the obvious story lines. AJ's response last night was better than some of the stuff we've heard before. He said "So?" when the told him minnie has won nine of 10 against us there or 10 of 11. Let's face it the odds of a sweep are huge right now. Detroit won that 17 inning game up there and Minnesota then won the next two like that 17 inning heartbreaker was no big deal.

Great Moral Victory Tonight
True. But Mauer's batting average is so good right now, it seemed the obvious move with first base open. If it's a close game, let's see what we're going to be b****ing about tonight cause we don't win close games up there.

If Dotel is as valuable as you say, and teams will really want him and his salary, then by all means trade him now.

As far as the retractable roof, wasn't it too expensive? I think voters kept voting down new stadium plans. The only hope was an all outdoor place I think. I can't understand the umps' horrible strike zone squeezing pitchers but it's been this way for years now. Umpires invented their own strike zone and nobody has ever really explained why.

Can't argue with a thing soutsideirish wrote. The way I see it is the only way we're ever going to win there is to get between 15-20 hits in a game and still we'll probalby just win 12-8 or something. We're not going to win if the game is tied or we're down a run after six innings there, that is for sure. I can't see our starters holding them down in the dome. Our only hope is to just have a game where we mash the ball from start to finish and how many games do any teams have like that? Thank God we won the coinflip last year.

I don't think anybody will be putting the Twins out of the race. They're not going anywhere in our crappy division. I wish Detroit would start playing as poorly as everybody else.

Great Moral Victory Tonight
Another reason it was no moral victory from Mark Gonzales of the Tribune: The Sox issued six walks Friday night, and five resulted in runs, including the tie-breaker in the seventh inning that enabled Minnesota to take a 6-4 victory at the Metrodome. The loss dropped the Sox 3 1/2 games behind American League Central leader Detroit.

No moral victory. Not today. Twins have not been very good this year. They are identical to us in their mediocrity. Even though we came from 4 down we had way too many goats to consider it a moral victory.

White Sox GM Hampered by low Attendance
Whoever decided to pay Dotel 6 million should be canned. Or reprimanded. Get rid of that bum.

SOX v. Minnesota 7/10/09 - 7:10 CSN
Good questions both. Two good baseball men in Hawk and Stone immediately called for the walk. Actually Stoney immediately, then Hawk after a pitch or two chimed in he also would walk Mauer. I think on a lesser note the play in rightfield on the Getz bomb was huge. It needed to clear the fence or hit the wall to give us the lead. Also the Twins' bunt was bad news for us. And the fact we couldn't kayo Blackburn his final two innings and could do nothing with their set up man. We definitely had our chances. But Oz had a bad game; Thome a bad game; our pitching overall was ordinary to bad. Wise was his normal oh-fer. Beckham RBI hit but just a 1-for-4 as his mild slump continues. The M boys did OK and will do even better the next 2 games; Kubel 3 of their 7 hits. Yuk. They scored a lot of runs off seven f***ing hits. Ugg.

I would be stunned if anybody would even want Dotel/Linebrink. Both overpaid and you can find somebody to fill that role much cheaper. Why would anybody trade for those guys?? I'd be in favor of trading Dotel. He's the definition of mediocrity. But who would want him? Maybe the Spankees who would consider his contract chump change? Or the Mets?
