  1. So players are still getting top dollar. Just sign Garland, Kenny, Just do it.
  2. I'd rather have Michael Young out of those 3.
  3. I will miss Dye if we trade him. What a stud. If we trade him for Figgins ... my god.
  4. Pls answer this: Why would we want Jones? Isn'tt he done???
  5. I'd rather have free swinging Lexi bat second. No need to protect him. He's a good hitter. Give him the extra at bat a game up there.
  6. I'd rather have Durham back than Gooch if we are going that route.
  7. I don't like AJ batting second. I agree the rotation needs one more proven starter. This team will be a lot like last year's, only winning when the big bopper veterans blast the ball over the fence and the days our bullpen is on, not off. How bout a veteran starter, Kenny? How bout one more trade, talking Paulie or Thome into being moved.
  8. It just seems like this would be a perfect time to make some significant changes. I guess our higher ups feel some of the young guys we have and acquired actually will play. I don't know about you guys but I sense this is the year we need to give AJ a lot more time off and we have no backup catcher. We still have all our station to station hitters. We acquired no veteran starters so far. I didn't want Javy back but we need another starter to replace him. I can stand KW standing pat in our pen. On paper like Joe Morgan said, we have a good pen if those guys all do the job. The question is ... can Carlos Q carry our team on his back? Paulie and Dye and Thome are getting no younger. Ditto AJ who has been great but can he be this durable forever with no backup? Hopefully KW will make some moves of interest. I can hear some boos this season if we are the same Jeckyll-Hyde team we were offensively a year ago.
  9. What moves? We've been too quiet regarding guys who can contribute this coming season. We need to make an eye opening deal. Oz is going to implode if our lineup is station to station again with the same cast of characters this year.
  10. Anybody agree with me we, like Obama, need change. I don't wanna see Paulie, Dye, AJP, Thome plod around the bases again this year. I want one gone. It's time to change don't you think? We barely escaped Minnesota due to a gutsy 1-0 win at home, then got smoked by the Rays as most expected. We need change in our lineup.
  11. Can you imagine if TV money dried up in this economy what the Yanks would do? How does TV remain able to pay the Yanks the kind of cash they do?
  12. It's pretty obvious KW is going with what we got. Are we rumored to be heavily after anybody? Not complaining just wondering.
  13. I love it. Like Ryan said arms hurt anyway because it's unnatural motion to do that to your arm. I do think it's too late to do this, however. Too many pitchers and fans have been conditioned to the babying of pitchers the last many years. So this will fail.
  14. Yanks are going crazy. Hope we take some of that luxury tax and do something with it. We got to add some pieces.
  15. I wouldn't have minded keeping OC considering we got rid of all the other guys I despise: Swish, Logan, etc.
  16. I wonder what KW has up his sleeve. We are not a better team right now than the end of teh season.
  17. I like when studs like Bobby fight back. It's easy to be an expert from a computer or from the stands. Bobby is a stud.
  18. My god, some people can't be pleased unless the names we bring up are minor leaguers who have never pitched an inning but have potential. Baseball is full of mediocre pitchers. I'd like to bring in a mediocre VETERAN pitcher like Garland. Garland is an inning eater. Yes he gets rocked sometimes. So does everybody in baseball. Wasn't Sabathia sucking just two seasons ago? Didn't Cliff Lee suck 2 or 3 seasons ago? He had a bad year in there. We need an inning eater with the potential of throwing 8 innings once in a blue moon. Garland is good enough. Bring him back. Or just sign a bunch of young guys we've never heard of and let them each pitch 3 innings per outing. Because second time through the order young pitchers GET ROCKED.
  19. The way I see it is they are going to raise ticket prices a ton anyway and keep charging big bucks for food, parking, etc. Who cares about what they pay out on salary? The money thing can go either way. Some teams that don't spend win. Some that don't spend really suck, like the Royals. I just think we need another starter who has some experience, maybe 2, could use an upgrade at third or second and backup catcher. If it takes money to get these things, then spend. Why throw away a season? If we are going to keep Thome/Dye/Paulie/AJP/Mark, they are not getting any younger. With veterans we should at least fight for the Central title every year. If it takes spending, it's not your money. They are definitely going to take your money no matter what. And yes I already realize we have one of the highest payrolls, so good for the Sox management in that regard.
  20. Why no thanks to Garland? He was pretty damn good here and probably would love to be reunited with Cooper. We need an inning eater. The f***ing Red Sox keep Wakefield ever year to eat innings. We need one. I'm glad that article said KW may sign one or two veterans to throw in the mix.
  21. I'd use the word scary or a big concern rather than inexcusable, but that's just me. We need another inning eater type starting pitcher if we hope to make the playoffs, folks. I'm not saying Garland, but a Garland type, or a "good season" Paul Byrd type. Not the Byrd that can have a sucky season. Add to that the possibility Floyd or Danks could have the sophomore jinx or sophomore type setback, and our rotation is a concern minus another "good" starter. Our relief is still a concern unless Dotel and Linebrink stay healthy and develop to where they are GOOD in 7 of 10 or 8 of 10 outings. Not Dotel being good one day and the next outing horrific. I still prefer we trade one of either Thome/Konerko though I guess it's impossible to find the right trade/fit with no trade clauses. We again will only have a chance for a special type season if Thome/Konerko/Dye/AJ really have big big years. Heaven forbid if AJP gets hurt with the backups we have. If we were to somehow get another good starter I might feel way better about our team.
  22. Not a bad article on rebuilding, though it only examines the issues of Owens, Fields and Getz. Should be interesting to see if these three new everyday players produce. Obviously Wise can take over for Owens if he sucks. As far as everyday position players, I do wish we'd keep Dye and find a team that Paulie or Thome would accept a trade to. I don't think we should continue on with the four station to station players -- Paulie, Thome, Dye and AJ -- in the same lineup. For change sake, I'd like to see one of the four gone. We are going to regret not finding a suitable backup for AJP by the way. He's been very durable. He could use some more time off, time off that Mr. Pie in the Face couldn't provide. Any comments on DeLuca's fine article?
