The fact Uribe won't alter his style of hitting proves Walker is rendered helpless by today's millionaire athletes. The guy has all the talent in the world, everybody says in media reports, yet simply won't adjust. Does the guy want to hit sub .250 all his life?? Hope you are right about Massett as a starter. His pitches scream hit me, as do Danks' and Mac's.

He ends the column this way ... "I'd love to have that kind of man's man on the South Side. But, oh, I forgot. They gave Ozzie Guillen an extension through 2012. Fools." Fools? The Sox won a WS two years ago. Led by Ozzie. Only in Mariotti's world do coaches get fired on a whim. This guy is too predictable. What a "fool"ish column. Man this guy is a one-trick pony. Fire the manager; fire the quarterback. He even wrote a column a couple weeks ago on the Illini quarterback situation. Where's his column on firing Wedge? ONE TRICK PONY. Think Jay's hatred of Oz may stem from the fact Oz hates Mariotti and vice versa? Fans aren't that dumb to fall for this. Can you say personal vendetta? I voted for the Red Sox. American League loyalty and karma. We won it the year after they did and will again next year.

Say what you want about Oz, he managed perfectly in the 2005 postseason, as did our other coaches. No mismanaging of pitching, no dumb baserunning coaching blunders. No panicking and yanking starters early like Torre and some others. What was Skinner thinking tonight in not waving Lofton home? Is he insane? I think we have a manager who if given the tools will at least expertly manage us in games that count. There were so many blunders you could second guess this posteason. I mean how does Wedge survive blowing a 3-1 lead??

You make a good point. I am a firm believer we must keep Jon, Mark and Vaz. So I would be in favor of trading either Paulie or Thome. You are right. You have to trade something. So I'd deal one of those two and perhaps some of our young starters. We need to acquire one of those older pitchers LIKE a Byrd, Rogers, Moyer, Maddux, Mussina, Wakefield. I'm not saying those exact guys. The Sox tho need an older starter.

I hate articles like this. Hall hit .254, 14, 63. Those are Owens-like numbers. Garland for Hall? That would be robbery by the Brewers. KW can't afford to make another hokey trade. It has to be one we clearly win. I still say we are not as "deep" in starting pitching as the writer suggests.

I would think Rowand actually would have gotten all the money he wanted had the Phils won it all. He would have been named as one of those guys you "must have" on a winning team. They flamed, however, and I doubt Rowand will get superstar money. I love Rowand but he doesn't deserve superstar money.

I would love to see a game from the early summer of 77 on youtube or somewhere. The old ballpark was packed every game and the White Sox hit the s*** out of the ball. Ran out of gas in August and September, however.

The Tribe is loaded. I guess I would change my tune if Tulo is a future ARod. He's pretty damn good. Holliday however is capable of having the type of year Paulie had this year.

If we don't go into next season with Mark, Garland and Vazzy we have no chance of making the playoffs. None. If we have those three and for once add a serviceable veteran (like a Byrd) our starting rotation will be looking good. We must tinker not revamp.

Cleveland is going nowhere next year. The Tribe is scary good. Our division is gonna remain strong. Hope we're not just playing for the Wildcard. The Rockies on the other hand ... lightning in a bottle like us in 05. I think they will suck next year. It's their year. They better make it count.

A general manager that takes a chance on Bonds will be a desperate GM. There's not a more hated player (outside of SF) than Bonds. Even AJ is not as brutalized in the media as Barry.

It sure was nice having Crede's defense on a daily basis. If his back is healthy, his defense alone makes him invaluable.

Rowand is a good player. The guys we have replaced him with the last 2 years were not good players. Owens might be a good player soon. Who's to say what he's worth in this market nowadays? I'm sure he'll sign somewhere for close to what he wants. I'd rather have Hunter just to try something new.

I didn't even notice them til reading some old threads and they kind of intrigued me. I usually just read the main threads in Pale Hose talk and trade talk but one day saw those old awards. Kind of funny.

Oz better have us ready to play out of the gate. For years the Royals have been out of the race by mid May. Hope that doesn't befall our Sox. We better be ready for those division rivals early.
