Aaron Rowand and Johnny Damon
Damon is one of those guys I'd like to have on the team. He appears to care. He appears to be a gamer. I could be wrong, but we obviously have to change the temperament of our team. Right?

Amount of posts down/question
Seems like the traffic on here is down. Maybe I'm just dazed, bored and gloomy on a sleepy Sunday, or depressed we still can't prevent the Twinks from winning this division ... but do you see any reason for real hope for our Sox next year? We still are slow afoot. We have a lot of marginal players that we're kind of excited about, who frankly aren't championship quality (Uribe, Timo, Ben Davis, Burke, the guy playing ss now), young guys like Crede and Borchard who have somwhat disappointed. Contreras doesn't look like he's all that and we know all about Garland's inconsistencies, which means our starting staff still has severe Q marks. Oz we've learned apparently isn't a savior. Maggs is aching and may be gone. Hurt isn't getting any younger. My question is ... can anybody cheer me up or do we look like a franchise that has seen it's best days?

Why Would a FA sign with the Sox
If we pay more than any other team, they will come. We will not, so they won't.

Great Nancy Faust article
Forcing her out would be bush league. Good story. It implies in several areas she's getting the shaft.

Hawk's Analysis
The turning point was Crede whacking a big home run to win a game for us walk off style. For some reason our dysfunctional boys saw that as a negative and lost about 15 of 18 at home after that.

Everett Trade
I wish we would have acquired 2 other guys besides Everett and Alomar. Try somebody else. They've now seen us fade late 2 years in a row.

Game Thread 9/2/04 A's @ Sox 1pm
Who'd a ever thunk we were a 2-man team. We are soooo horses*** without Maggs and Hurt it amazes me. We are one of the worst teams in baseball w/out those 2. We are punchless w/out 'em. How are we gonna re-make this team?

Jose Valentine
People that want to get rid of Jose and everybody else need to realize they are average ballplayers to decent ballplayers and we could do A LOT WORSE. We just notice their deficiencies cause we see em every day. WE COULD DO LOT WORSE THAN JOSE V

sox got swindled by new york in loaiza deal
Good trade by KW. I still don't like KW though. I feel sorry for E-Lo. If it's true he wouldn't listen to Coop and Oz, maybe if he gets his arm healthy he'd be more apt to listen to them next year. Sign him for 1.5 mill.

Jose Valentine
I like him. I wouldn't mind an upgrade if there's one available to us. He's better than Uribe, though. I'd prefer Jose over Uribe.

It Starts Today
Like your enthusiasm but ain't gonna happen. We will not sweep. We ain't got it in us w/out the dynamic duo.

Joe Borchard
You said: 240 OBP 260 Slug Mediocre glove (CF) Non-factor on the pads. 26yo 504-foot dinger What a resume. --It's official, in one year this board has gotten sooo cynical. I'm close to out. Not that anybody cares but geez the guy has so few at bats and you don't get behind a blast like that?? Geez.
-
Joe Borchard
I was only half kidding. To hit a ball that far is pretty exciting.

2004 Sox MVP
Mine is Paulie. He had a great comeback year and his production would have put us over the top had Frank n Maggs not got hurt.

Soxtalk Soundoff: Jon Garland
The point is ... who are you comparing him to? The major leagues are full of Garlands. He is our Garland. Who do you want to bring in? We're not going to pay for star free agent pitchers. We are not going to trade for star pitchers who command big bucks. Reinsdork is cheap. Some act like Garland is a complete stiff. The guy is a mediocre pitcher who occasionally is awesome. Who do you want instead of Garland??? Keep him as a No. 3, 4 or 5 starter.
-
Garcia missing another start
Uh oh. Dreaded arm trouble. Shut him down.
-
Joe Borchard
2 points: 1.) what was it like with a crowd of 5,000? Was it weird? That has to be the smallest crowd since 1970s Old Comiskey. 2.) If Joe can hit a ball that far ... keep him! This proves he has potential to be a phenom. Work with him. 500 feet???? Way to go, Joe.

Garland
Me. It was under my name you gonzo. Joke.
-
Ozzie and KW on the same page
I hope with our payroll, KW is capable of putting together a future winning team. Every year it seems we're strong in some areas and so pathetically weak in others that we can't contend with the Twinks.
-
Esteban Loaiza
garcia, buerhle, contreares, loaizia, and garland would sure be a tough one to beat... --on paper, the Sox always look tough to beat. Then we take the field and can't beat out the Twinks year after year.
-
Garland
Oz said after the game: “It’s a shame,” Guillen said. “(Garland) has all the talent in the world and doesn’t use it.” Oz obviously has given up on him. He's gone. Too bad, though, we're still going to need a No. 4, 5 starter. If I were the Braves I'd trade for Garland If he stays healthy, he's eventually going to win big.

Thanks for Olivo..
I love Miguel and would rather have him than Ben. But nobody can argue with Ben's production. He's done well.
-
Jon Garland
How long has he been here? 4 years? Isin't that enough time to work through mechanical problems or learning when to make a certain pitch? --No. Only because he's 24 years old. He'll be a great No. 4 as you all have said.
-
Ross Gload
Gload is a toad. He's a good backup, though. Keep Uribe and Gload as BACKUPS!
-
Is re-signing Jose really that bad of an Idea?
Juan Uribe is not a quality baseball player. Jose has been good enough. I wouldn't be against upgrading, but not with Uribe. Keep Uribe as a backup. He does have 18 hrs. p.s. does anybody else think Uribe swings too hard sometimes? Nice RBI single tonight though.
