You sound like you may be better off working for yourself or being the boss of a company. You said you like to be in control of "everything." And "do things my way." That's tough in the job world unless u are very established at the company.

Good post Beast. Sounds like you are doing well. Hope you find that fulfilling work.
  3. Avi is 1.7 WAR. He comes cheap. He loves Chicago. He has tidy numbers of 19 HRs and 66 RBI in 453 at bats. Seems to me he'd be perfect for a year. Then if Rutherford bombs keep him another year. How bout Avi to a 2-year 16 million deal? Or one year 7 million with a club option for a second year at 8 mill? He and Abreu are the two free agents I'd like to sign. Some of you guys should trust my position that we need some veteran leadership and those two guys bleed White Sox colors.
  4. Your credibility is in question because you think Abreu is absolutely no good. That's just not true so that hurts your credibility. I mean to attack a guy who leads the league in RBI and except for Albert Belle would be right up there in all time team HRs is downright wrong. Yes your position on Jose hurts your credibility. Now you could argue my credibility is gone because I opined that a certain player would be a good catcher. Kind of Manny Sanguillen-ish and had the stats that would make him an outstanding all-star catcher. That was before Timmy turned into a .320 hitter. That obviously translates well at shortstop or any position. I did not foresee that coming. I dropped it when called on it so my credibility isn't completely shot.

Dick Allen, Jose Abreu and Hibbard oh my! They are my favorite peeps since Lions, Tigers and Bears in Kansas. Thanx you three for praising Jose!

He was hot early and earned an all star berth. He wasn't enough to carry some of the stiffs in our everyday lineup and in our everyday rotation. Anybody with sense IMO can say he did his part in helping this team contend. He's been basically good all year cept for what, that 2 weeks right after we fell out of contention? Maybe 3 weeks? I credit him for playing so well when the team has so few big games in the course of a season.

I'm glad a couple guys like greg hibbard are rebutting some of the statements about Jose with facts. I like it.
  8. I can understand criticism of a player. I certainly blasted Royce Clayton enough and Adam Dunn. But I don't understand criticism of somebody who has produced. It really makes one wonder what is going on in ron's head? Say what you want about RBIs ... the guy leads the team and league in RBIs. He's over .280 now. He drew three walks yesterday and crickets. He's having an all star season at age 32 on a horrible team. I know in a free society you can criticize anybody you want but this reeks of something utterly unfair. Considering all the bad players on this team ... and the guy to attack constantly is Abreu? Makes no sense. We're all worse for having to put up with it cause it adds to negativism in our daily lives. Oh well.
  9. Great win. Good story on Cease's outing. He knows he has to throw strikes. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/dylan-ceases-latest-outing-short-and-not-very-sweet-its-another-chapter-where-he-needs-be
  10. I see Brother Rice pounded Perspectives the other night. I love BR but seems like they should have known Perspectives couldn't give them a game. My perspective is BR would have been better off playing some suburban school like Naperville North or Benet. Putting perspectives away in one quarter doesn't benefit anybody really.
  11. Cool, Breach. Let me guess. Evergreen Park HS or Morgan Park HS or Oak Lawn HS. Or Reavis. Can't think of any other south side schools.

Congrats, Jose on another fine season. It's a pleasure to watch you play on mlb.com. Hope the Sox give you a fair offer and you accept it. That can wait. For now ... nice age 32 season, sir!
  13. Not to be the board's hall monitor in pointing out stuff but cmon, Gatorade Man? Either you are kidding or you don't think there should be fun in baseball. Yolmer is who he is. One of the worst players on one of the 10 worst teams in the league. He's OK. And I like the Gatorade dumping on himself.
  14. Jose is finishing so strong a lot of you may get your wish and he'll be gone. 31 homers. 112 RBI, this guy may be earning a multi year deal from somebody and it obviously won't be with the Sox. Congrats Jose. You have helped make the price of admission worth it in this awful season. ANOTHER DINGER FOR JOSE! Nice blast, baby!
  15. Abreu is up to 30 homers and 111 RBIs. Are you bleeping me? Do you folks realize how impressive this is for a team as bad as the White Sox? I'd like to ask somebody if a Jose appreciation thread is appropriate? I think it is. Being that most realize Jose is one of my favorite Sox of all time I probably should not go there and start one lest I get accused of inciting his detractors and put on vacation. So I'd just like to say, 111 RBIs. Albert Belle once had 152 for the Sox which is insane. 30 HRS; Belle once had 49. Jose has earned his paycheck this season, folks. I hope Jose got a loud long ovation Saturday night for homer No. 30. I'm thinking the fans who go to games appreciate him. It has to be fun to watch him bat when you pay good money for a game.
  16. Really? I'll want to see it to believe it. I hope we're trying to win in 2020, but we'll see. It still might be 2021 with this organization. Jack I love your posts but I agree with Vile about winning. I want to win every day mainly because I love the Sox and I don't care about the draft frankly. Pitching a guy like Covey was a slap in the fact to paying customers last night and a clear sign the Sox wanted to lose that game. Sad. Fans should get a refund.
  17. You gave up free tuition? Where'd you wind up?
  18. That's wild. Is that legal? Like against IHSAA rules or ? You got free tuition to Rita? That is wild. By the way, how did u like attending Rita? I enjoyed Brother Rice for two years. I guess it didn't seem to matter we had no girls in classes. The McAuley girls came to our dances and it was fairly easy to meet them. When I went to Rice, Rita had a great running back. I forget his name. I think Rita usually beat Bro Rice in football back in the day.
  19. You know, if you are being honest, you can't believe Bummer is that great a prospect. He's another inconsistent Sox reliever. Pardon me for not believing he's a stud, so to speak. The way I see it only Colome is a sure thing. Hahn needs to do some work on this inconsistent pitching staff. They have the $$s available to get some guys if any are on the FA list.
  20. No offense but we deserve to have nobody decent in RF after the treatment Avi got from fans on message boards. We had a decent RF bat making pennies.
  21. I loved Palka last year. I feel sorry for him. He's not this bad. He needs to be DFA'ed though.
  22. I wonder how many guys throw batting practice for the Sox. I'd imagine those guys' arms eventually fall off like MLB pitchers. How the hell do they find enough BP pitchers? They have to whip it in there at least 75-80 mph I'd think.
  23. The guy pitched a one-hitter. This thread should be congratulating him for what actually could be one of the best outings of his career AT THE END of his career. One-hitter, 11 strikeouts don't grown on trees. The other stuff should wait. Kudos and only kudos to Lopez today.
  24. I can't imagine the Sox have THAT MANY full season platinum box seats ticket holders. A smart businessperson would lock you into the same price as last year for 2020 as a reward for sticking with the team during an insufferable rebuild. I mean we "should" be a playoff contender next season. You really should be locked into the same price as this season IMO as a reward. 6.6 percent is pretty hefty. The team's payroll has been miniscule. Sox should be ashamed. Great post!
