  1. I like that uppercut swing yesterday when he hit the bomb. Hope he keeps it up, but I applaud him regardless. .351, 4 HR 9 RBI and 6 walks in 80 plate appearances. Not half bad.
  2. That's why I'm so against tanking. You keep a competitive roster and guess what? You strike playoff gold every once in a while. And guess what? The Sox get in the playoffs and anything can happen. Remember Baumgartner that one year? One guy (Gio?) can get red hot and lead the way, baby. That is if you are not trying to lose.
  3. I love McCann but you guys slay me. He turns 29 in June which is so close to being too old by modern board posters. It's OK some players are pushing 30 and can get nice deals backed by the fans and other guys get meh'ed to death when they near 30. It's all cliche. That said I do love McCann. he's one of the reasons we are sniffing .500.
  4. Well, we are an inconsistent team which I guess is better than being a rotten team. Great starting pitching from Gio. Congrats. Can you imagine Eloy going after that ball Tilson caught? Yikes. Gotta love Tilson so far.
  5. Start the shuttle between the Sox and the DFA list. Please release Fry. Thank you in advance.
  6. Fry has no chance; what's with the ground ball pitches??
  7. Fry ... one big LOL (get him out of there).
  8. He's only 26, one year younger than Engel. He only had 121 plate appearances last year. He has four full seasons before he hits the dreaded 30. A second round draft pick, former 9th rated prospect in Cardinals organization who has been plagued by injuries, he deserves this final shot. Here's yet another guy who has to prove he can hit or it's about over for him. If he gets hurt again, you would think MLB would cut bait with him. Last chance here for Charlie?
  9. I forgot about Fisk. That experiment didn't last, did it? As I recall he was a catcher til the end and the end finally came cause he couldn't catch the ball any more.
  10. Good win. We're due for a pleasant surprise. How bout it Tilson? Good start, now turn into Ralph Garr please.
  11. What the heck? Why are the concessions people so slow and inept?
  12. I long for the days my favorite team at least tried to win. It was fun going into a season thinking we had a chance and not being OK with the Cub saying, "Wait til next year." Next year blows. I want to win now.
  13. If we had Robert and Eloy in the lineup and picked up two free agent starters there's no reason we couldn't win this crap division.
  14. They certainly are relying on a lot of players they drafted in the futuristic fans' beloved draft.
  15. Is Shields pitching this year? With our staff as lousy as it is, I wouldn't mind seeing him give it a shot. Hell if we listed all the horrible fifth starters we've had in the Robin and Ricky eras we'd think Shields was Joe Horlen/Gary Peters/LaMarr Hoyt/Jack McDowell/Alex Fernandez/Mark Buehrle incarnated
  16. I love Timmy completely. Should I forget about his walk totals? Are they pretty inconsequential? greg needs an education on whether I should care if Timmy walks much. GO SOX! Nice crowd today, fans. Take a bow.
  17. Just checked the box score. Sometimes I like our team, but other times I wonder how we win a game. Do you realize we not only started Covey, but Delmonico, Castillo, Sanchez and Cordell were our 6 thru nine hitters?? With Alonso cleanup? That means our 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 hitters are all not only bad, but horribly bad. How have we won as many as we've won?? Geez.
  18. It'd be cool to have a soxtalk fan forum where we all could get together and tape a 2 hour special arguing topics. Greg would vehemently argue against rebuilds and against tanking. The clock keeps ticking, ticking. Now it's a 6 year rebuild?? Wow. Credit the Sox for making money and lots of it in such a losing environment.
  19. Great post. The grass is ALWAYS greener when it comes to White Sox veterans who have been White Sox a long time. We don't show 'em much love around these parts. There's always somebody better out there.
  20. Sorry Mr. Engel. You sure try hard, but you can't hit. No shame in that. Hope you have a backup plan although you've probably made some good $$ already in the big leagues.
  21. Interesting if Engel was sent down. That should be it for his career. Baseball can be cruel. Mr. Engel can sure field, but can't hit a lick. Another big league hopeful bites the dust (I realize nothing was expected of him as a 19th round pick).
  22. It's not Abreu's fault he had to play here during the tank years.
  23. That happens a lot to the White Sox. Very annoying.
  24. Engel is no good but as long as we are trying to lose and we've got nobody else he does us no harm. I guess I have nothing against seeing what Tilson can do this time around.
  25. I'm just glad he's been out of sight out of mind. Please DFA him, Sox.
