  1. I look at the big picture and if you said you did this, there have to be a TON of fellow Sox fans who did the same thing. I mean I have a friend in Lisle who got fired from a job because he had tickets for the Sox-Orioles playoff series (the Dybber, Britt Burns, Hoyt series) and his boss said if he skipped work he was fired. He went to the game and got fired. This guy doesn't know anybody on the Sox roster besides a player or two, has no idea of our farm system saviors who were acquired for Crochet. He has zero interest in the Sox. I mean a true diehard. A lot of you I know think as soon as we start winning again all the former fans who have lost interest will come back. Maybe, but there are an awful lot of kiddos who have NO interest in the Sox, many probably don't even know Chicago has a team at 35th and Shields. My point: Say what you want but the longer the Sox are totally irrelevant and loser of 100 plus games, the more fans will stay away. Most people will not pay those prices for a mere baseball game that features no players worth watching and food/drink/parking that's for the 1 percenters, not the average Jane and Joe workin' 60 hours a week. Very sad. My second year of not watching a game is upon us. I will watch highlights as long as mlb allows it for free.
  2. Very sad baseball hasn't commented on the Sox disgraceful treatment of its fans in not trying to win. It's disgusting to look at this roster. And it's not like the guys we're waiting on in the minors are THAT great. We're waiting on some good prospects, whoopie! Are they really elite?
  3. Well offseason is finished in my mind. A couple more days til Feb. 1. February means spring training and the Sox frankly have had the most pathetic offseason in my lifetime. They got rid of Sale, I mean Crochet, and added that one trade worth of prospects and a bunch of old mediocres. The pitching staff is made up of a bunch of nobodies. Until they get going in April, May I am confident 80 percent of Sox fans could not name 50 percent of our 2025 roster. 50 percent may be way too high. This franchise is despicable. I'd rather be sent to Antartica for a month than purchase mlb.com to watch this wretched team. Robert is staying it looks like. So he's the attraction, the one "star." Good luck Mr. Robert shouldering the load. It's apparent it is you and a bunch of stiffs representing the Sox in 2025. I do wish him well. Vaughn would be the next closest guy resembling a big leaguer but he's had his chances and he's Mr. Mediocre/Try Hard Though. Oh there's Beni. I'd rather have Rowand or Vance Law. Feb. 1. How depressing to know the roster is about complete. I predict 35-45 wins. I'm thinking 39 wins somehow. Q: is the sox current pitching staff, starters, openers and relievers, by far the worst in Sox history, maybe baseball history? Wait til u see the 6-7 we use every game lose almost every game.
  4. What a dummy TA is then. Chicago's a good town to be a sports hero. He stopped producing. He probably should write a book and name names. I take it he must have had a tough few years for sure.
  5. Anderson was one of the few Sox players anybody'd ever heard of during his tenure. I also wish him well. That'd be neat if he got good again. Abreu should sign a minor league deal somewhere too.
  6. somebody said he mispronounced veeck's name. You can't do that period. Chicagoans are unforgiving when somebody is that dumb.
  7. What a life. Got to play baseball for a living, got to broadcast baseball after his career ended. Got to 'work' at a job he obviously cherished all the way until it was time to head to heaven. And I would assume he had a great family life. Just a gut feeling he's a great guy. Rest in peace. What a glorious life he had.

I read thru the thread and saw the prediction by the poster came true and made a comment. It didn't put on blast any party or candidate thus I thought it would be OK to go there.

You were right. I won't get political, but I wonder who would be the next president had they done it the normal way, by nominating a candidate and having a convention. Or I wonder if KH would have won had she named the Penn. governor Shapiro her running mate instead of the other guy.
  10. Weird sarcasm coming from a guy who I thought liked me. I do not like Applebee's, never been to the one in Kansas. I do like the salad bar at that one restaurant I forget the name. Italian garden or whatever the name is. And I love Ozzeroo of course. McCarthy is a veteran coach, proven, Aikman upset the Cowboys fired him. Might figure ways to beat Green Bay, etc.
  11. Slam dunk. Bears next coach has to be McCarthy. He's only 61. He could be the coach of our next good team. If he's Bears coach til 71 you can't convince me he won't win at least one SB.
  12. The month of January creeps on. Once you hit February it's all over for roster building. Assuming all our studs are "not ready" the lineup and pitching staffs are both worse to way worse than last year's team that came out of spring training. That must be a helpless feeling as a GM knowing you don't have the weapons so to speak. Seriously our only hope at 50 or more wins instead of 41 would be our central division opponents not being able to get up for the Sox. It will be difficult to get up for the Sox games if you are an opponent. Only way you could get up is if as a hitter you decided to feast on Chicago to build up the RBIs and batting average. And if a pitcher to get those strikeout totals up and ERA down by virtue of domination of the Sox. We're that bad.
  13. If the zips projections are correct, we will be throwing a bunch of bodies on that pitching mound all season. Just arms, little ability to get guys out. If the pitching is way worse than last year and we win 50 games then the new manager is manager of the year.
  14. Disagree. You don't win games with an up the middle of DeBong and Nicky as well as the light stick we had at catcher. Also easily the worst pitching staff top to bottom in Sox history. And finally nobody except Beni lifting and pulling any home runs to speak of. That team deserved what it got, 41 wins. It lost blowout games, it lost 'close' games cause of the bullpen and it lost games cause of its lousy starting pitchers not named Crochet. also Fedde did OK even though he stunk as a Cardinal. Luis Robert also had an uneventful 393 at bats.
  15. You are an optimistic fan. I'd venture to say most Sox fans either are upset or totally have moved on and do not care and would never ever consider going to a game unless it was some special occasion: free tickets in prime location, free parking. I don't live in Chicago but I'd assume there's general who cares malaise about our Sox. Am I correct?
  16. I don't know about that. I don't think anybody can say the roster is any better right now than last season. Who is the Sox starting shortstop and second baseman in the year after DeBong and Nicky? Those two truly were dreadful so maybe this year's crew will be better. If Vaughn and Robert have horrible seasons there's no way they'll win more than 45 games. Cause somebody list a two-deep roster with likely starters and subs? I need to start learning some names even tho I won't be buying mlb.com again.
  17. That's where some of you differ from some of us. You say Crochet is worthless to the Sox. If you have a great player some of us think it's fun to watch him wear our jersey and win a few games. If you keep your Crochets, Cease's and some of the other guys let go in "rebuilding" you might actually be able to win the old fashioned way. But let's just keep dumping all our good players in the name of a tank/rebuild job. Ridiculous. And this last one didn't work and some of you still like tanking/rebuilding rather than keeping your good players.
  18. As a fan I don't mind Getz. He seemed to be a good speaker/leader during the few minutes I watched before having to turn off the podcast cause of the annoying announcer on the left. I wish Getz well and I think he does want to win after hearing his comment on Sox fans wanting to win now. Getz-ie (I'm sure he was called that as a player cause it seems everybody is an 'ie' at the end of their name in baseball.
  19. I tried but had to turn off the podcast a few minutes in. That co host on the left ... loves to hear himself talk. His questions are way too long and he's acting like he knows everything. I couldn't take his long speeches culminating in a question. Geez, just get a huge list of questions and let the GM talk and explain this mess of a 41-win team.
  20. You could make a helluva exciting highlight film with several of Vaughn's at bats. "Sometimes" he whacks beautiful doubles in the gap. Sometimes he actually puts together a few good games in a row. ... But to me most of the time he looks so pained at the plate. Like he's nervous or something. This has to be it for him. Is he a fine hitter or not? If he has another mediocre season he's probably shown the door.
  21. I'm glad your remain a negative voice of reason. There's no reason for us long time fans to buy into this b.s. JR has been selling for years. I can understand people saying, "If you are so negative why follow the team?" Fair question. We could go away and shut up but when you are a lifelong fan it's tough to start rooting for some other team. It is mildly encouraging the farm system got ranked fourth. That's all the Sox have to sell now. Marketing strategy would be: Fully invest now; we're coming!" And then in smaller print note the farm system getting ranked fourth.
  22. How the mighty have fallen. We used to be a representative team in the division year after year with real players. Now the Sox arguably are the dregs of all of baseball. Sad.
  23. It'd be nice if they 'rushed' all those guys into big league uniforms. Why not? We're not winning anything regardless. Remember Bobby Witt? He wasn't 'ready' and endured a bad year then came out gangbusters. If Witt had hit in the Yankee series and Salvy KC prolly woulda won and moved on. Meanwhile our Sox ...
  24. Sox aren't winning anything with this low-paid roster. From what I've seen the roster is worse this coming season than 2024. No $$ means no fun.
