  1. My point is we won a WS the old way of doing things. Why? One year everything went right (and we still almost blew it late in September). We all will be thrilled if we get one WS out of this rebuild. So why sacrifice 4-6 years of SUCKING totally for the 'chance' we might be dominant and win one WS? We could do it the normal way and acquire good players, develop some of our players and win a crappy division. Once you win the division you could catch lightning like 05 for gosh sakes.
  2. Why are you acting so mean in response to my question? I said I had no problem with 10 years. I'm pointing out reasons I feel he'll get a year in a posh prison. Remember this is about one case. The other cases are not included. So I was wondering if he'd get OJ'ed. The Vegas sentence made up for the LA acquittal. I'm not for Cosby the creep. Just asking what he's gonna get.
  3. I mean I'm not a rebuild guy, but this makes no sense. Why have a Sale-type pitcher on such a bad team? Explain please. Either a.) we are prepping him for next season or b.) he could be traded for 5 great prospects at the deadline if he's a star. For fans like me I hope it means the rebuild is sped up.
  4. It seems to me the managers have sucked, the GM's moves have sucked and the acquisitions have sucked prior to the rebuild acquisitions. I think we should be able to rule the division withot the tank/rebuild. You folks should be upset if Kopech is called up now. What good will it be to have a Sale-like star on a 100-loss team? Unless we're prepping him for a sped up contender next season?
  5. Undeniably true.
  6. Even Royals spent money. Even Cubs spent money. NY spends money; both teams. As far as not winnin' since 08, I blame our scouts, our front office, our owner. They have acquired stiffs. All you need to do is win your division, people and our division is not special.
  7. This should really anger some of you. MaKes no sense for a one-day promotion to win a game when we are tryin' to lose every other nite.
  8. But who's fauilt is it we won it once?
  9. The Indians are .500 for gawd sakes. This rebuild is insane. You get in the playoffs and the Sox may pull an Ozzie and WIN IT ALL. You'll never find out. We won one WS by catching lighting in a bottle. How many are we going to win this way? The division reeks. .500 to get in playoffs? Geez. We couda been contenders w/a few moves for a few dollars.
  10. I blame our scouts for picking up so many lousy players since 2006. It's an amazing dynamic that some fans don't want to rush players, so here's your window of stardom: 25 years old (maybe 24 with some players) to 29. That's four seasons in which a fan thinks a player should be raking. Any younger than 24 and we've rushed the player. Any player older than 30? Definitely DO NOT sign him to anything but a one-year deal.
  11. I mean how high can it go? At this rate, laugh if you will but in five years parking will be 60-70 dollars for a fricking baseball game; a hotdog will be 20 dollars; a burger 25 dollars; a beer 20-25 dollars; a soft drink probably stay about 10 dollars; a cotton candy 15 dollars. It's coming. I really don't understand how baseball teams make the kind of profits we read about. I thought ESPN was going broke laying off people. It's a very weird dynamic. Baseball teams are worth so much money, yet the average person certainly can't afford to attend a game today much less in five years when those prices I mentioned figure to be reality.
  12. This is actually a pretty cool video of Hawk highlights. I forgot how mad he gets at Joe West.
  13. I think we're going to win 8-9 games a month for a total of about 48-54 victories.
  14. To those of you who want to trade Abreu: My guess is you are worried about his age pure and simple. Anybody over 30 nowadays is over the hill in baseball jargon. It's sad, really. New ideas about tanking and players being on the decline after 30 are very bizarre. NFL? Yes. It used to be in baseball you could hit until you were 38-42 in many cases. Julio Franco?? Many Hall of Famers. Now? We have a good portion of our fan base who would be thrilled to dump Abreu. I hate to tell you folks: If we ever win the WS we are going to need a few White Sox veterans. We're not going to win it with all young-uns. And it'd help to have some guys who have worn the Sox uniform for a while.
  15. How often does that happen?
  16. Hmmm ... I always enjoy the SNL openings when they are about Trump. Alec Baldwin is a genius playing Trump. It's impossible to be that good of an actor. And I love Kate McKinnon doing all sorts of characters. But this week Stormy Daniels, the real one, was actually on the show. WOW! I wonder if this was appropriate. She is a bonafide porn star on TV. WTF? I don't think SNL should have put Stormy on TV. Couldn't somebody have played the part? They brought in several celebs for the skit like Martin Short, the guy from the Fockers series, Jimmy Fallon. Why the real Stormy??
  17. To the attorneys on here ... Cosby will be sentenced in July. What do you think his sentence will be? Remember he is old. He is not healthy. Now this is for one case, but will the judge pull an O.J./Vegas verdict and nail him for all the other alleged Cosby crimes that could not be tried? I personally think he will get a year in a country club jail/facility. The judge pretty much has to give him jail time, lest the judge be attacked from all sides. However, the judge if the judge goes by her/his sworn oath has to sentence him for ONE CASE. In other words, probation could be possible IMO. Remember this is an old guy, not some young guy. His life is basically over. However, his crimes are heinous. This is a tough call, folks. I think all things considered, he gets a year in jail. If I'm out of line, sorry. I would not be against him getting 10 years no chance of probation. I'm just at a loss for words on this one. I submit to the attorneys on here to give us a Cosby sentence. Thank u.
  18. If we trade Abreu, I will either a.) abandon my Sox fandom or b.) simply cry and get that over with.
  19. Me too. I LOVE Cooper's "mean" comments all the time. I do love the guy. He doesn't suffer fools. He'd hate a guy like Greg. Kudos to Coop. That said ... the reason some fans (and I'm glad to see a lot of board newcomers join me in hating on Hahn and Kenny) doesn't embrace the rebuild or trust the process is it didn't have to be this painful. OK, some of you want THE Nos. 1 or 2 pick which we appear destined for the next 2 years. Some of us don't think there's that big a difference between 2 and 8 or 10. Granted, the idea of No. 1 or 2 now does intrigue me, since our team blows so much. However some of us contend the baseball draft is much different than NFL or NBA. Way more busts. Finally to conclude this point, some of us would prefer the Sox did not save all this cash last offseason. Had they acquired Moustakas, which was easily attainable; had they acquired GOOD relievers not ones named Soria; had they acquired one good veteran starter not named Shields. All it was gonna cost is a few bucks and it wouldn't be THIS painful. We might even sniff .500 which means sniffing the playoffs. All it meant was to spend like a big-city team should spend. So do I trust the process? No. If you held a gun to my head, I would say Eloy, Moncada, Timmy and Kopech are can't miss prospects. I have a good feeling about Cease. But do I think Robert, Rutherford, Burger, Collins, et. all are locks to be good to great, no. If they are great, I will celebrate. But I have the right to be a demanding fan. Kudos to 2005! Bah humbug to the crap we've endured the last few seasons, including this one.
  20. If the knee thing is true, it would be BEST to get it scoped or operated on NOW before he starts to age. Seriously. Assess the knee and if he needs to be Embiid-ed, go for it. Eloy is a big man. A huge prospect. If he has "knee issues" Sox better act now or soon.
  21. I like this Fan O'Faust. He can be my spokesman anytime.
  22. I love Wimpy. I love Hawk. But the "know it all" Hawk of the past two seasons has been annoying. He reminds me of a grandpa who is right by gawd and he says his comments forcibly and you dare not disagree.
  23. I'm sure it's against baseball unwritten rules to ask managers about bunting philosophy. They can show RR all the advanced stats in the world and he'll consider them I'm sure, but tell him the advanced stats say never bunt, I bet even RR would blow a gasket and probably resign if they told him he couldn't advance runners via bunt. What a sport.
  24. Great post. Great post. I applaud the Sox for 2005. I give them credit for that. But this current crap is beyond belief. It's insulting to try to lose. It's obvious Hahn "wink win commissioner" built this team to lose. Any of us could do that. Any of us could get our underlings to draft the best available player. I'll give them credit over the average fan in getting Moncada and Eloy. Nice job there. And Kopech. Good job. I'm not convinced any of the other guys will lead us to greatness. I hope so. We shall see. All I know is the current product is crap. People ask me about the years before the rebuild and if I was OK with that. No I wasn't. And I also blame the front office for that. They are the ones who acquired hacks like Dunn and too many guys to mention who were stiffs.
  25. So all the advanced stat books say teams should never bunt. We bunt all the time. What does that tell you? RR is doing it to help the tank? Or RR likes the bunt?
