Fan Safety
I saw today somebody on the Indians hit a home run and drilled it pretty good and some fan in the second row of the bleachers totally whiffed on catching it and it rocketed into the third row. There were people in the third row who didn't even see the ball because the uncoordinated slob totally missed the line drive homer. That ball woulda caused some injury (at least a big bump/bruise) had it hit the guy in the row behind the fan who committed the error. Obviously they can't put up nets in the outfield, but somebody today almost got drilled and there woulda been nothing they could really do about it.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
I wonder if the Cubs can beat the Pirates in the WC game. I would think Pitt has the advantage with experience.

Mike Olt dfa'd by Cubs, claimed by White Sox
Somebody mentioned it and deserves credit. Somebody compared Olt to Josh Fields and I agree. He reminds me of Fields a lot.

no slider Chris Sale
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) 2 runs early with Indians not playing their two best should have been enough with Sale on the mound You expect a lot. Holding an MLB to just one run is a helluva performance, no matter the opponent IMO. I think 3 runs is a decent outing even for an ace.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) And risk losing more games? I think the great thing about him playing is that it might mean Saladino isn't in the plans for 3b going forward. Good post as usual. You are hot this season, your best season of posting IMO. I'm not a Saladino guy (except for utility action; please cut Beckham and keep Sally), but Olt is not the answer at 3B. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) So you want to have our players choke up on the bats like its little league and bench a player we just picked up from playing in meaningless games in September. These are gems Greg. Hey, it's helped. Flowers actually has some control of the bat with 2 strikes and who was the guy the other day that hit the gapper after he choked up? I forget now but I remember noticing at the time in KC.

Political Correctness is Pretty Silly
Of course our country is totally engulfed in not wanting to offend anybody and political correctness. I think George Will makes about a dozen good points in this column, listing many many things we could be outraged about if we elected to be outraged. For instance, Washington D.C.'s name should be changed and so should the name of the state of Oklahoma. Several more examples. I think Trump is awesome for battling back against political correctness cause as Will points out, where do we draw the line?? I mean he makes a perfect point that the state of Oklahoma's name should be changed as well as the name Washington, D.C. Tons of good examples. The P.C. people won't read it or will just say George Will sucks. Might want to broaden one's horizons and consider this column. http://www.newsmax.com/GeorgeWill/redskins...9/06/id/673810/

no slider Chris Sale
If the offense gets him 4 runs nobody cares about the homers just like EJ's homers in KC.

That Labor Day game was laborious to watch. Two quiet runs. Pathetic game.

Trayce hangs in and bloops a single. I have little confidence in Gio. Prove me wrong.

I'd end the Olt experiment early.

If Shuck gets on base, there's a sliver of hope.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) No. I would if the minor leaguer was a non prospect.

Is this the guy who set all the records on Jeopardy?

Would you trade Cleveland Melky, Duke and a minor leaguer for Francona?

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
Three horrendously bad at bats. The bad White Sox may have returned for this homestand after the good White Sox played well on the road. This game shoulda been busted open the inning he walked four guys. Stuff happens.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) He had a great July, hit .323, but pulled off a weak august and so far a terrible September. It'd be worrisome except we already know we can't complain about that pattern since our LF has done the same thing and people are somehow fine with him. Not me. I'm a Melky hater.

Abreu, Cabrera, Garcia sure looked good on paper last winter. Can the three muster a hit in the eighth inning of a close game against a lousy Cleveland team?

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) I am going to say you have absolutely no idea what you are saying. Johnson needed more consistent at bats after his injury. He will be up in next few days I'm sure. Micah was kind of scapegoat for the horrendous start.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) Really we pinch hit for Flowers with Leury Garcia, heck I would have rather had Flowers hit. I get the feeling Robin likes Leury more than Micah.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
The Indians logo on the sleeve is kind of offensive. I'd think it's way worse than Washington's Redskins. You don't hear as much about Cleveland needing to get rid of Chief Wahoo.

Olt makes $520,000 a year. Not a bad check for his pathetic resume.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) I'm sure FIP will say it's a good start due to strikeouts, but Sale has been awful. Definitely time to maybe skip a start for him, as who cares about 300 strikeouts I don't know why they don't just send him home for the winter. The experts think he has injury potential so why pitch him when we're out of the race? Sit him.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
Sale is like anybody else. Hittable some days. Obviously his full body of work is outstanding.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
That at bat by Alexei was not good. He's been hot and still had the bad at bat. I feel like he was trying to blast a three-run homer there on 3-2 and the pitch was kinda high to be swinging so hard.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
Flowers finally made contact and got the fly ball. Everybody should choke up except Abreu.
