Old Comiskey was that way. If you had lower level boxes first 5-10 rows or so you'd walk in the park and walk thru one of the tunnel entrances and BOOM, a glorious baseball field overcoming all your senses. I don't think my senses have ever been through a more glorious experience than entering old Comiskey field level. Actually Wrigley may be that way too but I can't remember that as much as Sox Park, 35th and Shields.

Good post. If folks want to kill an hour or two go to youtube and watch the 3-4 people who go to games and rate the ballparks. Our park, Rate Field, consistently is the worst park the reviewer(s) have ever watched a game. Our park does reek but it has to be in the top five in terms of delicious (albeit overpriced) food.

We gotta give credit where it's due. Getz is no longer the devil. He's made some great moves including picking up this Mead guy. As well as Tauchman and the others we discuss a lot. Folks, it's time to raise a glass to Getz. I'm thinking he 'gets it' in terms of talent evaluation, baby. BTW: Quero and Teel are for real IMO. Any current or former haters of Getz willing to raise your glass with me to toast (not roast anymore) him?

Like I said before he is gonna take Chicago by storm. He's the Sox version of Pete Crow-Armstrong, Bobby Witt Jr., Connor Bedard. Ten home runs at this stage is remarkable. His last two homers have been rockets.

Great post. The block lettering unis and hats were intriguing. Kind of unprofessional though as u said like a softball uniform. I will say the Sox have always had good uniforms though. But you can't beat the current hats and jerseys. Like somebody said the rap community all wore Sox hats and Sox gear. The current S-O-X script is gorgeous. Again, the best hat in baseball tying the Yankees. I'd prefer we keep the current unis but scrap those dark red and black ones we wear sometimes. To be honest our best uniforms in my lifetime prolly were the red ones that Dick Allen wore in that picture with the cigarette in the dugout. Our only bad jerseys were the ones with the collars Zisk wore. Anybody else an Eric Soderholm fan? He could hit (in '77 at least).

I love Frank Thomas. All I was trying to say is our lowly White Sox, an embarrassment to those who pay attention any more, finally have a Caitlin Clark, a Connor Bedard, a Bobby Witt for those who think I love the Royals, a guy like the Cubs player with the 3 names. Frank is/was amazing (his batting eye especially and overall hitting of course) but this Montgomery has the SWING. Smooth, explosive, BOOM.

Montgomery, no hyperbole, is our best prospect maybe ever. That swing on the homer is as smooth yet forceful as anybody who has worn a Sox jersey. Whoever is responsible for drafting him must be a genius. 22nd overall pick? How could all those teams pass up this natural talent? When is the hype machine gonna take off?? He is the Sox's Caitlin Clark. He is the Sox's Connor Bedard. He is the Sox's versus of the Bulls' Mxxxxxx Jxxxxx. OK I won't go that far yet.

BUT in D.C. did you see the officials were saying via numbers crime is down like 50 percent and lowest since the 1960s or something. Then somebody proved the numbers released were fake news. There are a lot of things stupid and unnecessary about sports, Lip. Taxes being used to pay for stadiums of billionaires is one of them but it's the norm. So you gotta do it. These salaries to play a kid's game also are stupid and unnecessary. I just wonder at what point fans stop going. Not sure where they get all the money to drive to games, park, eat, drink and watch the games. ... The new thing in college sports is having to pay a rental fee just to have your season ticket seat. The cost of the seat is in addition to how much you have to pay lump sum just to have right to the seat.

Also hard to have pride in Chicago itself. I won't get political but living out of state, trust me, the nation's opinion of Chicago's financial situation and mayor's plan to increase taxes on businesses and crime stats dominate what we're told about Chicago. If it's fake news, fine, but nobody is proving it's fake news. To the average out of state joe, Chicago is a mess and it'd be insane to not move to suburbia if you were a sports owner of any team but the Cubs and their museum (park).

No retractable roofs in Chicago for baseball please unless you wanna hold Final Fours in there. Otherwise the Bears should have a retractable roof even though it's sexy to play playoff football when it's 20 below zero. Sexy but dumb. It's not football at that point.

The new owner would be wise to escape all the upcoming taxes, etc. Also like I said, Lip, there won't be a redeveloped Bridgeport. Do you see the new owners wanting to be in that area of the city? They'd be guaranteed a boon if they and the Bears joined forces and built a sports city out by the old Arlington. Why would the Sox stay at 35th and Shields with their brand new, rich owner? Luxury is what he'll want.

The area around Comiskey will never get redeveloped into a baseball zone. So move it to suburbia and make it a complex with the Bears. Make it a one of a kind destination area with roller coasters, etc. Maybe even renew the old dogtrack/racetrack concept out there too, or soccer.

No way. The Sox hat is perfect. The Sox logo is perfect. Just because our team has been an embarrassment has nothing to do with our hat and perfect jerseys. Changing the beautiful Sox logo would be the most ridiculous decision in Chicago sports history. That'd be like asking the Cubs to completely switch their logo. The Sox logo and uniform is in the top two in baseball with the Yankees. I do realize the Sox abandoned it with the block lettering Sox years ago when our unis looked like the Astros. But cmon. Don't mess with the traditional Sox uni.
