What's with all the blind child references? I am not wanting Mark because I am like a 12 year old with a crush on him. He was f***ing good last year. How many quality starts did he have? He also has a style of pitching I think is contagious for our other starters. I AM suggesting he will continue to EXCEL. How many years did Jamie Moyer kick ass? You guys are nuts if you think I got owned in that post. I want Mark for his future contributions not his past. Geez. I'd appreciate the few Greg fans out there to support me on owning him back with my post.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) This has nothing to do with anything, greg. God f***ing damn it, are you really this thick? All those good responses to my post and then this? Some of us think the White Sox owner has a ton of money and if he ever sells the team will make a zillion dollar profit as well. So yes I wanted him to fork over some money to pay Mark. Cheers to the fans who toast the team with their 10 dollar beers.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:23 AM) Just because I don't care about Jerry Reinsdorf's money doesn't mean I don't understand why he does what he does. Talking to you is honestly like talking to a child. I am not the only Sox fan outraged that Mark is gone. You guys sometimes fail to realize some people actually do agree with me on some of these issues.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 05:20 AM) "Why didn't they sign Mark and trade Peavy for Pujols?" QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 05:36 AM) Jesus f***ing christ. You are f***ing ridiculous, you must be smarter than this, I can only hope for your sake. The Sox TRADED for Peavy, and assumed the current contract he is on, meaning he is making that money NO MATTER WHAT. MB was a free agent, he CHOSE to sign with the highest bidder, aka the Marlins, and it's been leaked that no one else was even CLOSE to the years/money that the Marlins offered. Recap if that was to confusing: Peavy is here under contract for 1 more year (and will not be traded because he has little value). MB is in Florida because they made him Mr. Moneybags (btw you are even worse that Joecoolman for nicknames). Does that make sense to you? I think you guys overvalue money that is not yours. I realize Mark was a free agent. He's a free agent that should have been signed IMO. Poor, poor Jerry. Can't sign a White Sox legend like Mark Buehrle who would have been the 1-2 punch with Peavy the team needs on the mound in trying to beat out Detroit for the division title. He also would have continued to be a nice tutor of Sale. I'm glad an internet message board doesn't frustrate me to the point I'd ever print what you did. You said "]Jesus f***ing christ. You are f***ing ridiculous, you must be smarter than this, I can only hope for your sake." WTF? You need anger management?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 04:17 AM) It has been explained to you 600 times. If it still baffles you, then you're purposely being obtuse. You have to keep the both of them no matter the cost. If you are not in it to win, why be in it? We now have a healthy Peavy, but no Mark to go with him? That just plain sucks.
-
Should be interesting season having Peavy ready to go from the get-go. It baffles me the Sox would have Mr. Moneybags on the team and let Buehrle go. Peavy's finally ready, now we have no Buehrle to fulfill the long-coveted 1-2 all-star punch. Sale better be good or this team is in a world of hurt starting pitching wise. If Peavy is Verlander this year and Sale is lights out to go with above average Danks and Floyd, we could have a chance at a top five starting rotation in the AL. With veterans Konerko, Dunn, AJ, Lexi and Rios we have some guys who might be extra motivated to go with the younger position players. One thing is for sure. This team is NOT REBUILDING just because Tank and DeAza and Morel and Beckham will be playing. That does not constitute rebuilding with all the veterans we have. WE NEED PEAVY.

If Adam Dunn hit 45-50 home runs would we win the division?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) And then you start thinking about the team you get to watch come spring... less awesome. I agree. It'd be nice for this team to overachieve and individual players earn their salaries this year. Last year only a couple earned all that loot (Paulie, Mark, couple others maybe). -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:34 AM) So you're saying as long as someone hires you to coach, you're automatically an excellent coach? How many awful coaches do you see get recycled in all of the major sports? I'm saying he obviously has a way better reputation than Sox fans who have fried him on here give him credit for since he landed another big league job so quickly. The guy obviously puts in the work and has a decent philosophy. It's not necessarily his fault if the guys with the bats in their hands don't listen and/or fail.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) Honestly, it could very well be that Becks tuned Walk out. Probably a bunch of other people too if he himself just noticed. Didn't Walker immediately land another hitting coach job the moment it was obvious he wouldn't be back with the Sox? Just saying, maybe he's not the devil.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) Like in 2010 when we were in first place until Bobby Jenks decided to give up the season? I forgot to ask. Was this bait for me since I love Jenks?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 02:07 AM) Kenny did his tired "woe is me act' yesterday when Garfien asked him his thoughts on the Tigers signing of Fielder. Kenny said (paraphrasing) must be nice to lose a guy like Martinez and to be able to go out and sign Fielder. It is what it is. Yes Kenny we understand, if you only had more money to spend . . . Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I can't resist. Must be nice to have money to spend??? Rios ... Dunn ... Peavy. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 05:08 AM) Um, what? There's no stat available that measures not giving a f***. If you watched the Sox with any regularity last year, you don't even have to ask for any "evidence." Rios was a f***ing joke last year. Rios does not hustle. He truly is a joke.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) I predict De Aza won't be on the big league roster by june.. You predict he's going to suck that bad? Wow.

Kenny said there's no money left. The fans should say the same thing to him. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) If you blame the players, then how can you give the manager any credit for winning the World Series? I thought it was all on the players. I have given the players off the 05 team a lot of credit. People accuse me all the time of blindly praising the 05 guys.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 03:15 AM) When a large fraction wanted Milledge kept over him? Yes, Milledge was reaching legend status. I do love Lilly, though. I'd almost like to have him be a starter all year just to see if he could whack 30-40 home runs. It's amazing how many homers he hits.
-
QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) So why are you still high on Ozzie despite his behavior and awful managing of late? I never believed Ozzie was "awful" last year. I think he played the high-paid guys and never faulted him for that. I tend to blame players. As far as his behavior ... I don't care about him 'quitting' with 2 games left. I believe even with a year left on his contract, he wouldn't have been brought back for this season even though everybody says he was welcome to come back. I think the Marlins' thing was obviously going to happen and Jerry knew it. It gave the Sox an easy way out (they didn't have to fire Oz) but no way in hell were Oz and KW both going to come back this season. I truly believe the Sox would have parted with one of the two and I think KW won that war. In my opinion he did it by brownnosing, but we can disagree on that.

The whipping boy usually is identified early when he emerges by making a few errors, or blowing a few saves or something simple like that on the first homestand. So I think it'll be DeAza (if he's the starter) or Morel. DeAza could kick a couple fly balls like Juan Pierre did or go 0-for-20 or something. Morel could have an unexplainable 3 error game on the first homestand and be the whipping boy all season. However, the AJ post intrigued me. I do think he could be the whipping boy all season unless he shuts everybody up by hitting well and actually throwing out a few runners. He could easily get buried by the fans since he's one of only two remaining 05 guys left on the team. I will go with DeAza because from what I can tell he hustles his ass off and embodies the typical "overachiever" and this board doesn't like the guys who are not great players, but get the most out of their ability thru hustle IMO.
-
Is DeAza going to be this year's whipping boy? I sense some anti DeAza sentiment growing. I like the guy a lot.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Yet you call them rats and ass-kissers. You disrespect them as much as others disrespect Ozzie. I don't like that about them, but I'll give their props. Yes, Coop is best pitching coach in Sox history and yes KW is best GM in Sox history cause he did engineer the title team. But I am not high on either of them right now; Coop for his behavior in the Oz thing and KW for his awful GM'ing of late.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) And KW built the team and Coop coached the pitchers. So, greatest GM and pitching coach in White Sox History? Yeah, KW probably deserves that title and Cooper as well. I'm just standing up for Ozzie when somebody calls him a clown. Nobody called those two guys clowns.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) Ozzie the Clown. What an incredibly fitting nickname. That Clown directed the White Sox to the only championship in your lifetime. He is no Bozo. He is the arguably greatest manager in White Sox history cause he led the team to a title.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 06:25 AM) Did you watch him play last season? I agree, he looked like a very good leadoff hitter. He reminded me of the lines Rock Raines put up before he couldn't run anymore. Rock would go 2-5 or 3-5 and bash line drives. DeAza was a likeable player on an unlikeable team.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 12:32 AM) What's genius about the Rozner article is if Ozzie and/or Oney and Co. respond like they usually do, it will prove Rozner's point. That is genius on his part. He can always say that he told everybody what was coming, even though he couldn't get the story from Ozzie in his newspaper. I still say he wrote it as a preface to Ozzie's upcoming piece with Cowley. No way the Herald is going to get that story, so it's prolly an old media trick to act like nobody cares about the upcoming Ozzie rant/story in the competing paper. It makes it seem like he wouldn't even want to write more excuses from a person he called the "clown."
