Reese McGuire (+ Taylor Broadway) to Red Sox for LHRP Jake Diekman
I was thinking initially that this was the first of several moves. Not sure how I feel about this trade either way. I don't think I'm a fan.

Time to buy, not sell
Williams tried, even if it meant flailing in mediocrity between 2009 and 2016 before finally admitting that a rebuild was needed to be actually competitive. We've never drafted / developed well, and that's been the main downfall of this organization. Not enough home-grown players to use as trade chips or backfills for veterans. Not enough success on developing the pieces that we've got.

The official thread of unbridled second half optimism
Resisting the urge to take a hit off that one.... As frustrating as the first half has been, and as frustrating as July was, The Beloved went 16-11 in July for the month. For those of you keeping score at home, that's .593 while playing 27 games in 31 days, with 4 mandatory off days for the ASB. ...and the schedule is going to get easier from here.

Maybe a more gratifying poll would be to guess Anderson's upcoming suspension.

Yeah - not gonna lie. My first impression when reading this thread title was “yeah, we can probably get a pretty good return for someone like Lynn.”- Give Your 2022 Sox a Slogan
I am thinking "no words," similar to this Stanley Cup promo (tears and all)- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
2021 Liam Henriks would have pitched back-to-back-to-back games.- Joe Kelly leaves with injury
Pretty sure there are insurance reasons why it's more advantageous to stash him on the 60-day IL so you can delay that decision until the offseason.- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
Walking the bases loaded to lead off the 9th inning is generally frowned upon, right?- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
Well, he finally threw a first-pitch strike.- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
This game feels like a loss.- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
Thank you for picking up what I was laying down.- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
Jimmy likes first pitch pop-ups.- 7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
only 1 out on that fly ball that dropped in. No way to tell if Blackmon was going to get there. I can excuse that part. Also, not sure how he's supposed to score from 2nd on that attempted DP. The pickoff? Yikes.- What is status of Luis Robert?
Luckily with Harrison playing well, that frees up Leury to become an everyday OFer. </sarc>- Whit Merrifield
"is a really bad fit." Translation - our management tends to ignore things like "good fit" or "team needs."- Whit Merrifield
....which would make it more likely.- Whit Merrifield
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/07/royals-trade-rumors-whit-merrifield-best-fits.html MLBTR thinks the Sox would be a decent fit for Merrifield. He could plug in at 2B or RF. He's a RH bat, but, barring his would-have-fit-in-with-the-Sox April, he's been OK, and his salary is affordable. - White Sox among 'most agressive' teams in pitching market
