Yeah, but you have to admit it would be pretty amazing if Veeck would have had access to the internet
  2. That, but don't forget that the contracts that made those guys such favorable assets were given out by Hahn. Not saying he doesn't deserve to lose his job over these past few seasons, but he DID do a passable job of assembling talent... just not a team. Seems like the kind of guy who will perpetually make a fantastic assistant GM but then s%*# the bed as the actual GM.
  3. It was almost like 2020 happened, and Hahn wasn't ready to flip to "win now" mode. Or at least he showed his ineptitude in trying to "win now."
  4. Well the good news is that accountability isn’t the issue here. Imagine how much worse it would be if accountability was what was the issue.
  5. Hahn (10/26/2022 ascension to GM) technically gets credit for the Sale (3/7/2013) and Quintana (3/2014) contract extensions. He also deserves credit for extracting great value in the returns for the above two, plus Eaton. IMO he deserves a lot of credit for laying the foundation for a great core with his tear-down and start of the rebuild... but he's completely and utterly failed at rounding out that core (including contingency planning outside of 1B / DH)
  6. Hendriks for Madrigal would be the chef’s kiss of incompetence for Hahn.
  7. Would have been a great all-star game hat in the late ‘90’s and early ‘00’s
  8. Sure. Mark me down as the "people want to see him play." That said, it seems like everyone on this board either thinks he's a star-crossed warrior or a pansy who needs to suck it up. There can be no in between. My point is that either way, every thread on this board becomes a referendum on Moncada's dedication to being a professional baseball player. It took 6 posts for this thread to devolve into that, which I'm labeling the "Moncada Score" or "Moncada Index."
  9. 6. The Moncada Score of this thread is a 6. That's 6 posts before Yoan's name was mentioned in a sarcastic or disparaging way, or in a way that attacks his character.
  10. It must be bad if he immediately ends up on the IL. No waiting the usual 8 days.
  11. It would help solve our RF problem.</sarc>
  12. Not sure where you'd slot him in defensively, but maybe we can find a place for his bat between Burger and Colas. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/05/diamondbacks-dfa-seth-beer.html
  13. Billy Hamilton was made to be the 10th inning Manford Man. He IS the Manford Man.
  14. Fun fact: 2/3 of this Sox lineup features the word “and” in their name.
  15. This goes beyond the "he's a bad guy because he's greedy." Reinsdorf is a horrible owner, but Wirtz was on a whole different level. It's not even close... like saying that both Hank Aaron and Daniel Palka were home run hitters.
  16. As bad as JR is, there is NO comparing him to Bill Wirtz IMO. Try to find and read Career Misconduct. Wirtz was a crook who stole from his own niece for his own gain.
  17. He’s available for a prorated league minimum!
  18. ...until you show that that's your goal by clearly taking action ONLY so far as to achieve second place (maybe), then publicly stating that that's your goal. THEN they won't be happy.
  19. Also, shouldn’t the comparison be Abreu vs. Benentendi?
  20. That was a BOMB.
  21. Wow. That's the hardest home run I've ever seen Vaughn hit
  22. There's always extras....
  23. …well, with Kelly coming in and the umps not delaying it… yes, estupido.
