  1. I don't know, but I'd be interested to know, surprisingly enough, we didn't go over that in the Beatles class I took at IU. That is where I learned most of my so-called trivia. BTW, for anyone interested in that class, check out this link...I believe they are actually going to England this summer for a course over there...What fun that would be. http://www.music.indiana.edu/som/courses/rock/beatles.html
  2. I hope not, he's a jackass and I hope he stays in the minors for the rest of his career. Sorry to be negative, but I will never cheer for Jon Rauch to be successful, he is far too full of him self and I cannot respect the way he has treated fans when I have seen him.
  3. Favorite Beatle songs, by album: (cw and 2k4 I want your lists as well) Please Please Me: I Saw Her Standing There Explanation: While this is arguably the worst album the Beatles made, this song starts things off well and gets your attention straight from the get go. With The Beatles: Don't Bother Me Explanation: First song George wrote on his own to appear on an album, this is where I feel George coming into his own. A Hard Day's Night: Anytime At All Explanation: John and Paul together, to me this is one of their best efforts both singing lead together. Beatles For Sale: I'm a Loser Explanation: While this album is usually written off as subpar, which in parts it is under Beatle standard, it has produced this song which I feel is a vastly underrated John song. Help!: You've Got To Hide Your Love Away Explanation: Another underrated John song, this song gets my nod from this album, which wasn't one of their better efforts in my opinion. Rubber Soul: In My Life Explanation: No explanation needed; this is just one of the great Beatle songs that everytime you listen to it, it makes you reflect on things in your life and that to me, is what makes this song so valuable. Revolver: Here, There and Everywhere Explanation: Particularly hard to pick a favorite from this album because I love it top to bottom, so I just picked the song in which I would pick if I had to choose one from all of them. Probably the best Paul song besides Yesterday. Sgt. Pepper: She's Leaving Home Explanation: This pick may surprise people, but the instruments and the lyrics in this song are powerful to my ears. I think it showed a new side of the Beatles musically, which is something I can appreciate. The White Album: While My Guitar Gently Weeps Explanation: George Harrison at his best as a Beatle (besides maybe Something). Enough said. The Clapton guitar solo was also amazing. Let It Be: Across the Universe Explanation: This is probably my least favorite album (besides Please Please Me) and I feel this is the strongest song on the album and in a way, it doesn't belong with some of the other junk they placed on this album. Abbey Road: You Never Give Me Your Money/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/etc. Explanation: Everything stringing together to end their last album...Simply Amazing. To you Beatle amateurs, you should listen to this sequence of Abbey Road, it will blow you away.
  4. Musta read it wrong...sorry there sir.
  5. Some Beatles trivia for cw or anyone else: (If anyone gets all of these correct, I'll give them a cookie. I don't think there will be any cookies given out though.) - Who was the first manager of the Beatles? - In what year did the recording of the first Beatles single take place? - What is the title of the song that was supposed to be the follow up to Love Me Do, but was never actually recorded by the Beatles? - What is the name of the only home that was ever shared by all four Beatles and what year did they live in that home together? - What artist toured Britain with The Beatles from May to June in 1963? - What drummer filled in for Ringo on the June 1964 tour of Europe, Hong Kong and Australia? - Which Beatle song featured the first use of intentional feedback? - Who directed Help? - What two artists are covered three times each by the Beatles, which is the most any artist was covered by the Beatles. - How many versions of Strawberry Fields Forever were mixed to get the final version which was released? - In the song "A Day in the Life" a woman dying in a car crash is mentioned, what is the name of the woman (she is a real person) for which this reference is meant to relate to? There are a few, I've got plenty more if anyone wants some... Now, get to work...
  6. Right now I have a summer school class in which all of the teacher does for half of our class period is ramble on about his political views, mainly ripping apart John Kerry. Now since I agree with him, I am not offended about his comments, but a lot of the liberals in my class are growing tired of his act and I don't blame them one bit. I think it's totally inappropriate for him to push his views out there constantly, but hey, I'm not the one in charge of the class. However, he did piss me off when, in sox4lifeinpa fashon, he ripped the Beatles by calling them overrated and plain...At that point I wanted to stand up and make a jackass out of him, but for the sake of my grade, decided that would not be in my best interest.
  7. Livan Hernandez... :sleep Please wake me when you have someone I actually want...And who doesn't have a contract like Livan's (like 6 million a year for his "tub o goo" ass) Until then... :sleep
  8. I wouldn't go to half-price nights...period. Too many drunks...too many people who only come for the cheap tickets and are there to cause trouble... I have only heard bad things about half price nights, so I think I'll stick to only making my trips to games on weekends only. Plus, it's the best time to tailgate with Steff on the weekends...
  9. Rowand sucks in centerfield...Quit being blind everyone, just because he gets terrible jumps on balls and then makes himself looking great by having to make a tough play because of his bad jump doesn't make him a good outfielder... Borchard better arm than Rowand....check. Borchard smarter than Rowand....check. Borchard better bat than Rowand....check. Borchard can hit from either side of the plate, Rowand cannot....check. And the thought of Carlos Lee in CF really makes me want to cringe.
  10. Borch continues his reign of fire...
  11. Jose couldn't hit a lefty to save his life, this is ugly.
  12. You conduct small interviews with the players, what the hell are you talking about?
  13. I was asking myself the same thing while pondering whether to delete it or not and also wondering why people keep spelling his name Neil... It is NEAL COTTS!
  14. Don't forget for MIRC users: /server irc.centralchat.net /join #soxnetchat I won't make it to the chat tonight, but everyone have a good one...
  15. Maggs isn't coming back, regardless of what you've heard. It's just not going to happen.
  16. Let's hope this has some validity, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. HE GAWN :headshake
  17. Not another one of these threads...
  18. I don't care if I am kissing ass, I've spoken to Borchard on several occasions, he knows me by name and if I want to cheer for him, I have that right...He's always been nice to me, cooperative and eager to talk about baseball. To me, that means something.
  19. I think he should ride on a bus to Charlotte and the bus should bring Reed back to Chicago after it drops off Rowand...
  20. I've talked to Gregg Ritchie about Reed (the Charlotte hitting coach) and he expressed confidence that Reed's power would increase because his approach to hitting and mechanics are nearly flawless. Reed is for the most part a line drive hitter who uses all parts of the field to get on base. If a guy throws him away, Reed will go opposite field and if someone tries to come inside on him, he will smoke the ball on a line into right field. The most impressive thing about the way he swings a bat is the fact that you will almost always see Reed get the bat head level to the ball, which usually results in a line drive, which he can spray to all fields depending on pitch location. I don't expect him to be a major power guy by any means, but I think in time he will be a 10-15 HR guy at the big league level who hits for a good average and gets on base frequently because he hits the ball hard almost every time he makes contact. Hope this gives you a bit more insight on Reed.
  21. Congrats to Joe, I plan on catching back up with him for another five minutes when Charlotte is back in town in early August, assuming he is still with the club. A class act, a great person and a hard worker, he deserves all he gets...I can't say enough about him. Joe
  22. I agree here, this site doesn't need publicity, I think it's for the most part well rounded with great conversation already. And in terms of WSI, I had some of my best White Sox conversation with one of their posters that Steff introduced me to at a recent tailgate so I've got nothing against that site either except for the fact that I think they overstep on their rules from time to time (ala Game Thread restrictions).
