QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) This year? In the long run. It is my opinion that the real Pierre is the one of the past two years and not the one of the first 2 months this year.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) id rather have pods also I'd rather have Pierre

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) The Marlins are my second favorite team, and I was wondering if anyone else followed them. I love the approach the team has and thanks to Oz, we finally have it this year. Pierre and Castillo at the top of that order is deadly and then they have Delgado, Cabrera, Lowell, and Lo Duca and that is one hell of a lineup. I do as they are also my second favorite team. The huge number of young players on their team gives them a chance to be very good for a very long time, provided they spend the money to keep them (Beckett, Cabrera, Pierre, Willis, etc...)

QUOTE(ISF @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) People forget the All-Star game is as much a popularity contest as anything else. Garland, Hernandez and Buerhle are all on if they continue at current pace. Hermanson, if he indeed is now our full-time closer, will be there as well, barring a collapse on his part. Iguchi will not be there unless there is an injury to Roberts or Soriano. Podsednick and Kong won't be there because their averages suck. No shortage of OFs with all-star numbers. Varitek and I-Rod/Lopez will have the C spot taken. SS will be Guillen and likely Jeter will be elected starter. Amazingly, even with our historic start, I just can't see us getting more than 4 pitchers and no position players on the team. Tejada I'm pretty sure will be elected starter despite Jeter's popularity on the east coast. At least Tejada SHOULD be the starter anyways. As of now I'd say we get Garland, MB and Hermanson on with the possibility of El Duque and PK as a long shot if he can bring his average up say 30-40 points

If Carl goes to the DL retroactive to a couple days ago we'd need someone for roughly 10-12 games. I'd be fine with just calling up Borchard and playing Timo/Ozuna in Carl's spot with Dye DH'ing and JoBo getting the occasional start. Borchard is not the long term answer at all, but if its for a week I'd rather have him here than start the arbitration clock on Anderson just because we wanted him to play here for a week. Just my two cents QUOTE(beck72 @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Which is why I said Anderson should be considered if Carl goes down. Having Timo and Pablo play more than their UTL roles is a Dusty Baker move that would turn out bad.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 10, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) I can understand being a little frustrated with Dye, I am too. But it's not even halfway thru May, we are 24 and whatever, and Dye is a proven major league veteran. Why start the major league service time clock with Brian Anderson until it's necessary to do so? Also, he's been striking out a lot in Charlotte, 33 times in 105 at bats, something like that. He clearly has things to work on at the plate. Guillen talked today about how important chemistry is to this team. Yanking out a veteran and replacing him with a rookie when your team has had an awesome start, I think that might negatively affect the chemistry, don't you? Again, I understand some frustration with Dye but a bigger picture view is in order. Now i am not saying that as of now I'm for doing this, nor am I saying these two guys were considered the same prospect-wise, but just remember what Miguel Cabrera did for the Marlins in 2003.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Barons 7 Mississippi 4 W- Reynoso (1-1) L- Basner (0-3) Barons Mash Braves Chris Young Launched a towering Homerun tonight and now has a 14 game streak Chris also drilled a Fastball up the middle for an RBI single. Cory Haggerty also launched a shot off the score board in right. Josh Feilds had a 2 hit game with an RBI Double. Sweeney had a 2-3 for night with a walk and had a Homerun taken away by the first base umpire who called sweeney's blast foul which Razor and I though it was fair and replays back up our position. Heath Phillips was outstanding I talked with Heath and he was glad to be in Bham. Heath knew he would be overmatched in Charlotte he was glad for the Sox's to show that much trust in him and he today threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings tonight. Reynoso gets the win by Fanning Jeff Francour with the bases loaded in a tie game 7th inning. Darren Blakely made the catch of the year in the 8th a fully extended catch in Foul Territory. Bobby Jenks picks up save 8 today. Staff ace Sean Tracey will be on the hill tomorrow. You know , between Sweeney, Owens, Blakely, Fields, Young and Rogo, Birmingham's offense is really good. Charlotte should be much better next year and hopefully some of these guys can produce up here in Chicago in a couple years or so...the future is looking pretty good.

FWIW, the U.S. beat Guatemala 2-0 on goals by Johnson (his 8th in 8 career games) and Ralston. They are now one point behind Mexico for first in the region through 3 games

QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Why would jackson be on there? I mean he was cut and all. probably the same reason why Donnie Sadler and Grilli are in Charlotte. Dransfeldt, Burke, Walker and Escobar are also there. Tony Alvarez, by the way, is on Pittsburgh if anyone wanted to pick him up. BTW, anyone know if Ozuna is anywhere in the game?

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Wow, the Seattle GM must really think that Paxson is a dope. The Bulls key to success this season: FG% differential Bulls MVP: Tyson Chandler (in a landslide) This rumor is disturbing, to say the least. Funny because I wouldnt do it either. The Sonics rebounding has been so much better this year and Nick Collison is looking good in his first year. The way our team is built this year I wouldnt want Radman leaving for an inside player.

I saw Escobar when he played in Binghamton. No doubt this kid has skills...he just has to stay healthy and fulfill his potential. Long shot? Definitely. But you never know. Can't hurt having inviting him to ST and playing him in Charlotte.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) So...many...grammatical....mistakes...brain...dying...can't.......... LMAO And dude, it's your own damn fault if you were caught, the cops were doing their job. Last night I was in the same situation....just put down your drink when you see them and go to another bar...or just go home, either/or, cops just doing their job dude.

at this point i'd rather the season get cancelled. Playing a 30 game season is just dumb. It would be only for the owners to make their money in the playoffs. End the season already and come back in September. Please.

I forgot about that, that was great.

Roy Oswalt would look GREAT in a Sox uni

Caroliona blew that game. The offensive coordinator made some terrible calls late in that game. But Julius Peppers had another amazing game. Wow is he amazing

not many rules when it comes to summation. mostly you're just gonna have to do it like that
