Tobias Myers could still be pretty good but yeah, that is a pretty impressive assessment of offensive talent. Hopefully, Rodriguez was the dude who identified Caminero as a target.

Here’s a thought — perhaps Getz would be better served in an EVP role like Kenny toward his end, with Rodriguez actually being the GM. Getz has shown that he is better at the operations side of a baseball front office moreso than the scouting and choosing of talent himself. I’d be down with that…

Once again, I don’t work for the Sox. I get evaluated for my own job, decisions, and results. Barfield works for the Sox and he chose poorly. What else has he done for the Sox on the position player side?

This is turning into a Jerry situation. Veiled threats for some funding. These teams are pathetic with how much money they have and are earning each year from doing dick most of the time other than losing.

Well, GM’s and assistant GM’s evaluate talent and decide on whom to sign and trade for. It’s pretty clear that the Sox aren’t spending much money to sign good free agent players so hopefully Rodriguez will provide a better assessment on more attainable players than Josh Barfield did (see Dominic Fletcher trade). Actually, I was hoping this guy was replacing Barfield completely and that they canned Barfield, but this doesn’t appear to be the case.

I literally said he is more qualified than Getz. That’s pretty positive. I’d rather have this guy be the GM than Getz. He was with an organization in multiple roles that had a helluva lot more success than the Sox for as long as Getz has been here in multiple roles.

Hilarious that he could possibly have more true front office experience than Getz, and for a much better team over the years. Luckily for Getz, he was in the right place at the right time.

Saw this. Worth a flier. He’s only 24. Will probably be no better than Canario, but worth a shot. His K rate was better in the minors than Canario’s at around 24% but was just as bad in the majors at around 30%. Once again, no reason to pay a guy like Tauchman $3+ million or another outfielder in the Sox price range to make almost zero difference in another losing season rather than playing a young outfielder that could possibly turn into something.

Agreed. We already have a guy we hope develops with the bat that we want at 2B and a glut of other infielders. Just move Sosa to 1B and be done with this pipe dream of signing Murakami. Also, O’Hearn probably won’t be worth the money he is ultimately paid.

Agreed. I didn’t realize it was Gilligan and the same actress that was in Better Call Saul. I just read the synopsis and I will definitely be watching this show now.
