  1. Just in case anyone was seriously thinking the Sox would be spending in free agency this offseason, Getz probably just checked off “lefty bullpen guy” and “platoon RF for Tauchman / starting CF when Robert is traded” from his offseason checklist with these two trades today.
  2. We finally have the final pieces to the Cease trade!!!!!! Tanner Murray looks like Braden Shewmake’s brother from another mother.
  3. Pereira’s strikeout rate is pretty appalling. 29% in the minors and 39% in the majors thus far.
  4. Gomez was penciled into the 2026 rotation by some, but as of right now he probably would have been. This looks like a classic Getz trade. Pereira was a former Yankees top prospect that hit well in the minors but hasn’t shown the ability to hit in the majors. But it’s probably worth a shot since Gomez was the cost. The problem is that Getz isn’t hitting the mark with these acquisitions outside of Vargas (sort of) — Fletcher, DeLoach, Meadiocre, etc.
  5. By the way, it looks like Shane Riordan finally got a gig as Executive Producer of the Michelle Beadle and Cody Decker podcast. They aren’t even on a radio station after previously getting booted from SiriusXM for complaining about their time slot being replaced by Stephen A. Smith.
  6. Marshall Harris has been great at calling high school playoff games, but he’s an absolute dud on the radio. It’s also painful to listen to Rahimi try so hard to act like “just one of the guys” and fake laugh at everything, including their dirty jokes. I don’t even like ESPN 1000 much but The Score is an immediate station changer these days.
  7. I think you nailed it, but Murphy’s age versus Booser’s and what Getz gave up for Booser makes this move much less bad.
  8. Jerry drinks our tears and it adds years to his life.
  9. The next time they sign someone out of Japan will be the first player since Shingo and Iguchi, I believe. Washed up Kosuke Fukodome doesn’t count and they won’t be in on any of the big expensive names anyways. Not really much to get excited about.
  10. Brother Rice getting the prime time good broadcast this Saturday. This will be BR’s third broadcast game this season. The first two were on Marquee Network against Mount Carmel and Saint Ignatius.
  11. If you guys beat Oswego, good luck to you against Mount Carmel. Someone needs to beat them. 😡
  12. Lansu was apparently cleared to play after coming back in 4 weeks after surgery in his non-throwing arm. He had his best game of his season in his first game back from the injury. https://247sports.com/article/2026-minnesota-qb-commit-owen-lansu-details-his-return-from-injury-and-gopher-gameday-trip-257146428/ “I broke my radius bone about halfway down my left arm. They had to put a plate over it to align the bone which was displaced," Lansu said to 247Sports.”
  13. Well, to be fair, all his article says is that the Sox had scouts looking at Okamoto. I ran the article through Google Translate and he isn’t embellishing. Here’s the key excerpt below. Now does that mean the Sox will sign him, especially when the other scouts were from legit spending teams like the Yankees, Phillies, and Blue Jays? I sure wouldn’t bet my left nut on it… “On this day, representatives from several teams, including the Yankees, Phillies, Padres, Angels, Blue Jays, and White Sox, were watching from behind the backstop at Tokyo Dome.”
  14. Okamoto turns 30 in June. I doubt the Sox are all that interested. Murakami is only 25 but the Sox aren’t going to meet his price. I also read that Murakami has struggled mightily hitting fastballs above 93 MPH. That’s pretty scary.
  15. ChiSoxFanMike’s article below cites Yahoo Sports Japan’s reporting that “White Sox scouts were in attendance for a recent Japan vs. Korea exhibition game featuring star Japanese free agent infielder Kazuma Okamoto at the Tokyo Dome.” https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/white-sox-are-reportedly-scouting-star-japanese-free-agent/
  16. I don’t think we really know that. Free agency started on November 1st. Teams could have offered Naylor a deal and Seattle just matched.
  17. The extension isn’t official so only the number of years is known so far.
  18. Did we have a seat at the table?
  19. My son just told me DGN had two key injuries — Tackle Anthony Bertacchi and DL Aiden Solecki. I saw Bertacchi limp off the field in DGN’s last game. Those are two big injuries for their lines.
  20. Definitely some questionable calls in that MC game, but I wouldn’t blame that. MC is just so damn good. Coach Q recruited Lansu when he was on the Downers Grove Panthers with my son, but he decided to go to his local HS instead. So Q is very familiar with Lansu and hopefully will know how to stop him from connecting with some of his bombs.
