  1. Why is this so difficult to understand? Jerry is not taking a $20 million dollar gamble that Robert will rebound in 2026, even if it may be the right strategy if the current trade offers for Robert are weak. It simply isn’t happening. Robert is gone one way or another. The Sox payroll is at what right now — around $80 million? So Jerry is going to pay one player 25% of the entire current payroll next year? I think not…
  2. It’s just a matter of time. 9 days or less to be precise. 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 31.
  3. Try reading the tea leaves. Do you think Robert switched to Boras as his agent to sign what would be an inexpensive/team-friendly contract (4/$40)? Robert is a player that no doubt has an ego and thinks he is the same guy from 2023. Afterall, he did achieve that height in the recent past. If he comes even close to a season like 2023 again, he is worth triple the contract you suggested, if not more.
  4. And Robert’s hiring of Scott Boras in January 2024 indicates that this will no doubt be his offseason plan.

  6. Per Wikipedia, it happened after his MLB playing days were over when he was pitching in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
  7. I’d love his thoughts on that Fletcher trade. Guessing he’s probably not too talkative about that one. 🤣
  8. Jerry isn’t paying $20 million to bring him back for 2026, so it’s either the Sox get some prospect(s) back no matter what the quality, or they get to pay Robert $2 million to look for a new contract. It’s truly a no-brainer.
  9. Seems like it’s the way to get both Vargas and Sosa in the lineup as well.
  10. This response to Heyman’s tweet made me laugh…
  11. Sure doesn’t seem like a wise decision to let him face the #2 team in the MLB in runs scored, but that’s assuming a trade can be worked before the deadline.
  12. And even if Robert is more than likely worth 4/$40, his recent play gives Jerry an out from spending even that much. Cuz like you said, Jerry doesn’t want to pay him. And I doubt he even wants to spend 4/$40 on any player with the way he has been cutting payroll.

  14. I don’t want to settle for anything. However, your offer isn’t realistic. Robert changed agents to Scott Boras. He is much more likely to sign a one-year deal with a high AAV to recoup his value for a shot at a bigger long-term deal after 2026. Boras isn’t going to settle for $40 million over 4 years. Boras doesn’t short his client or his own percentage of the cut with team friendly deals.
  15. $10 million a year is nothing these days in the MLB. Take a look at what Joc Pederson has earned since he turned 30.
  16. Was it the swing change or gaining 20 mounds of muscle in the offseason, or was it Ryan Fuller? And then what is the reason he reverted back to his old bad self?
  17. I don’t think it means anything in the long run. It’s just funny how the minute he leaves the Sox, he gets hotter than s%*#.
  18. The casual fan is not running the team. Jerry is. Do you really think Jerry is going to approve Getz picking up Robert’s $20 million dollar option for next season after he has had two down years in a row? No, Robert is going the way of either Eloy or Moncada. He will likely be moved before the trade deadline. If somehow Robert is still on the Sox after the trade deadline, he will go the way of Moncada. His buyout will be picked up as soon as it can be and he will become a free agent. I mean, how can this even be in question for you?!? Just look at history.
  19. Still too small of a sample size but this happens too much to be a coincidence. The Sox organization is a black hole that sucks up players’ desire to play baseball.
  20. Was this a direct result of AJ talking about the Sox negatively on his Foul Territoy podcast?
  21. They are playing the third worst team in baseball.
  22. Who cares? They have already won a WS more recently than the Sox so what does it even matter? If they have the best offer for Sox players, deal them. It’s not like we don’t already know that the Cubs are a better organization and team than our lowly Sox.
